No. of bitstreams: 1 HISTORIA, MEMORIA E IDENTIDADE NO SECULO IV DC.pdf: 432485 bytes, checksum: d94fc0d050725604a8428ff62dc3f005 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2007-10-19 / Lactantius, Christian rhetoric from the North of the Africa, is one of the most important witnesses of the moment between the end of the third century and the beginning of the fourth century. His works, specifically the De ira Dei and De mortibus persecutorum are a register of theological, philosophical disputations and some events of his time. Influenced by the idea of Providence, in case, for the Genesis, Exodus, Numbers and the book of Josue, for the idea of Providence, History and memory from Israelis , Lactantius builds his ideas about the Providence of God and a History and a memory to the Christians in De ira and De mort. works. Despite the importance of two works, we don t find indications that any historian did a study about the construction of the and how works the Providence of God in De ira and it application in De mort. This is the core of our research, the construction and the explanation how works the Providence of God in De ira the dispute with Epicurus of Samos about the existence of the Providence and it application in the De mort. work, specifically in the political world of the Roman Empire in History (trajectory) of Christians , until the establishment of a new political order, when of the victory of Constantine on Maxentius, in 312. The History (trajectory) of Christians gives elements to the edification of a memory, being the memory the conscience who was in the past and who is in the present. The memory of Christians gives elements to the construction of an identity, being identity three points: a) positive definition of yourself; b) negative definition given to the other and c) dependence between the positive the identity and the negative the difference . The Christian is the positive the identity and the pagan is the negative the difference . As for methodology, our foundation is Régine Robin. According to the principles developed by the author, we analyse words and expressions in De ira and De mort. works, revealing meanings, at the first moment, hidden. Finally, our intention, through the study of the construction and the explanation of how the Providence works in De ira and it application in the political world of the Roman Empire in De mort., is to contribute to the best religious and political understanding of the end of the third century and beginning of the fourth century. O cristão é o positivo a identidade e o pagão é o negativo a diferença.

Transnational advocacy networks : the case of Roma mobilization in Macedonia and Serbia

Grewal, Ramneek January 2012 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to ascertain and explain the effectiveness of Roma political activism in contesting state oppression in Macedonia and Serbia. More specifically, this thesis seeks to investigate the divergent treatment of Roma communities in the respective states by analyzing the role of state institutions, civil society, political parties and international organizations. The thesis seeks to provide a multi-level analysis of Roma mobilization in Macedonia and Serbia by addressing the domestic and international factors that influence Roma political activism, and relies on two main theoretical concepts within the social movement literature: the Political Opportunity Structure (POS) model and 'transnational advocacy networks.' The POS model is a comprehensive framework to assess if Roma political activism has been effective in Macedonia and Serbia. This study uses the following components to describe the domestic factors that may facilitate or constrain Romani activism in the respective states: state repression and/or facilitation, institutional access, influential domestic and international allies. This thesis attempts to provide a detailed analysis of movement dynamics by taking into account the inter-relationship between actors and contesting groups. The limitations of the domestic opportunity structure regarding Roma advocacy in Macedonia and Serbia are outlined by describing the political context concerning minority inclusion, institutional mechanisms, and NGO/political party activities. As domestic opportunity structures are 'closed,' Roma activists and NGOs seek international allies to influence and change domestic policy on Roma inclusion. This study, while recognizing the importance of other international initiatives, specifically focuses on various institutions of the European Union as the main international actor influencing Roma inclusion policies in Eastern Europe. The thesis outlines the main EU initiatives on Roma inclusion to provide an overview of the opportunities and challenges in the international arena. Furthermore, it analyzes the interaction between international and civil society organizations assessing the effectiveness of the 'transnational advocacy networks.' Finally, the thesis provides a comparative analysis of Roma political activism in Macedonia and Serbia, indicating coordinated action has not been successful.

Rovný přístup ke vzdělání v České republice a Spolkové republice Německo / Equal access to education in the Czech Republic and Germany

Jarošová, Adéla January 2015 (has links)
The subject of this thesis is equal access to education in the Czech Republic and Germany. Education in its ideal form should help eliminate social differences, since social background, race or nationality do not directly influence one's ability to learn. Although this idea is reflected in several international conventions that both countries are bound by, the reality is very different. The thesis first deals with the right to education as such, its significance and its international guarantees, as well as with the principle of equality. In the following chapter, the author analyses significant case law concerning the right to education of the European Court of Human Rights and the European Court of Justice. The following chapter analyses access to education of persons with disabilities in both countries and compares the situation with international guarantees, in particular with provisions of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The main focus of this thesis lays on the access to education of minorities - the Roma in the Czech Republic and immigrants in Germany. The author assesses the situation of the Roma from a European perspective and analyses significant case law of domestic and international courts. The Czech Republic is not alone in its inability to successfully...

It notices individual behaviors in a community of clients, describing interactions with social workers and between each other. The specific chapter is devoted to children as the youngest users of a shelter, their coping with the environment and the possibilities shelter home offers to them. The last chapter implies a certain similarity in shelter clients thinking with thinking of people living in an oral culture. / Libertate opus est:. slavery, Manumission and citizenship during the Principate of Nero (54-68 d.C.)

Joly, Fabio Duarte 06 October 2006 (has links)
This work is a study about slavery during the Principate of Nero (AD 54-68), focusing upon the connections between politics and master-slave relationships in imperial Rome. The Early Roman Empire is not thus considered as a static period, but characterized by political tensions concerning the social position of slaves and freedmen. From a structural point of view, the work is divided in two main parts: 1) exposition and critique of the concept of slave society as applied to the Roman Empire, 2) analysis of the contemporary and later literary sources relating to the Principate of Nero. The ultimate objective is to point out the circumscription of a concept of slave society to the city of Rome as well as highlight manumission as its main component.

Maggie's Embodiment of the Roma Stereotype in The Mill on the Floss

Hemdahl, Jenny January 2009 (has links)

This essay focuses on Maggie in The Mill on the Floss, by George Eliot. An examination of her life is presented which is anchored in feminist critical theory and focuses on the ordeal Maggie has to endure in a patriarchal society. Furthermore, the life of the Roma is examined through postcolonial theory and compared to Maggie’s. Many of the stereotypes that emerged about the Roma are also present in Maggie’s life. It is argued that Maggie embodies the stereotypes of the Roma through her encounters with different characters in the novel.

Zaidi, Moni Farzana January 2008 (has links)

That parents should be a part in their children’s education is something that we educationalist wish for the future. Research show that if you have a good relation between parents and school, it can help a student's educational process. In this study I have concentrated on the Swedish minority group Roma. The study is qualitative and based on interviews with Roma. The goal of my study has been that with hermeneutics perspectives analyse some Romani parent’s experiences of their children schools. I have interviewed a mother who sent her children to a class who had only Romani students. I have also made a group interview with 15 students between 22-28 years of age, which have children in the ordinary Swedish schools. In my results I have come to the conclusion that the schools in general should get more education about the Romani culture and history so that mainstream students can understand the situation of the Romani minority in the society today. To spread knowledge of the Romani culture would be an important issue to get a revised picture about the Romani minority and to change the general view that people today still have about the Roma.
