The objective of this experiment was to study the potassium dynamics in no-tillage system, crop development and soybean yields, in different rates of potassic fertilization. The experiment was carried out in Fazenda Experimental Lageado in FCA/Unesp, in São Paulo state, Brazil, for 3 years. The soil was classified like Latossolo red distroférrico with medium texture (770 g kg-1 of sand, 210 g kg-1 of clay and 20 g kg-1 of silt ). The area had been cropped to soybean in no-tillage for one year before the experiment. In the first year, Pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum, var. BN-2) was planted in September, over black oat (Avena strigosa) straw, receiving 20 kg ha-1 of P2O5 (Simple super phosphate) and 15 kg ha-1 of N (Calcium Nitrate). earl millet was desiccated at the same time that soybean (Glycine max L. Merrill, var. IAC-17) was planted, in December/2001, using 60 kg ha-1 of P2O5. In Abril/2001, black oat was planted without fertilizers. Black oat was desiccated at the same time that Pearl millet was planted (September/2001), and was desiccated at the next soybean planting (December/2001). Pearl millet and soybean fertilizations were the same as those used in the previous year. The experiment was carried out in a 4 x 4 factorial design with randomized complete blocks (0, 30, 60 and 90 Kg ha-1 of K2O applied at Pearl millet planting x 0, 30, 60, 90 Kgha-1 of K2O applied to soybean), with four replications. The soil surface straw was collected at Pearl millet planting and at soybean planting, at 25, 50, 75 and 100 days after soybean emergence (DAE), in both years. Soil samples were taken at the same times as straw samplings, in the layers 0-5, 5-10, 10-20, 20-40 and 40-60 cm deep, in both years. Soybean shoots were collected at 25, 50, 75 and 100 DAE, in both years. Roots were sampled at 50 DAE, in the same depths as soil was sampled. At harvest yields were determined... / The objective of this study was to evaluate the alterations in soil structure and physical and physical-hydraulic properties with the use of different cover crop species with aggressive root system, in crop rotation under no-tillage, to evaluate the possibility of this management as an alternative to mechanical operations with chiseling, that are very expensive. The crop rotations used and replicated for three consecutive years, under no-tillage, had triticale (X Triticosecale Wittmack) and sunflower (Helianthus annus) as Autumn-Winter crops. Pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum), forage sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) and sunn hemp (Crotalaria juncea) were used in Spring, before the soybean. These management systems were compared with the mechanical chiseling. The research was carried out during three croping seasons (2003/2004, 2004/2005 and 2005/2006), in Botucatu, State of São Paulo, Brazil. The experiment was a complete randomized block with subdivided plots and four replications. The plots consisted of triticale and sunflower crops. The subplots consisted of pearl millet, forage sorghum and sunn hemp, besides of the mechanical chiseling management. The chiseling was carried out only, after the harvest of the Autumn-Winter crops in the first year (September of 2003), keeping the chiseling area without crops between the Autumn-Winter crops and the Summer crops. Cover crop roots and soybean roots were sampled in depths of 0-5, 5-10, 10-20, 20-40 and 40-60 cm. The cover crop roots were sampled before chemical desiccation. The soybean roots were sampled in the rows and in the spacing row of the tillage, in R2 stage of development. Soil bulk density, macro and micro porosity, total porosity and the curve of soil water retention were determined using undisturbed samples collected at depths of 0-5, 7.5-12.5, 15-20, 27.5-32.5 and 47.5-52.5 cm. Structural behaviour of concrete-filled elliptical column to I-beam connectionsYang, Jie January 2017 (has links)
Concrete-filled tubular (CFT) columns have been widely adopted in building structures owing to their superior structural performance, such as enhanced load bearing capacity, compared to hollow tubes. Circular, square and rectangular hollow sections are most commonly used in the past few decades. Elliptical hollow section (EHS) available recently is regarded as a new cross-section for the CFT columns due to its attractive appearance, optional orientation either on major axis or minor axis and improved structural efficiency. The state of the research in terms of elliptical columns, tubular joints between EHSs and connections with CFT columns, etc., are reviewed in this thesis, showing a lack of investigations on EHSs, especially on beam to elliptical column connections which are essential in framed structures. The structural behaviour of elliptical column to I-beam connections under bending is studied in this thesis to fill the research gap. Overall ten specimens with various joint assemblies were tested to failure to highlight the benefits of adopting concrete infill and stiffeners in the columns. A three-dimensional finite element model developed by using ABAQUS software is presented and verified against obtained experimental results, which shows acceptable accuracy and reliability in predicting failure modes of the connections and their moment capacities. Parametric studies were performed to access the main parameters that affecting the bending behaviour of the connections. A simple hand calculation method in terms of ultimate moment capacity is proposed according to experiments conducted for connections with concrete-filled columns.

January 2009 (has links)
Abstract: The crops are responsible for third of grain yield for the Brazilian food, performing economic and financial importance to the nation. Thus, in the agricultural year 2005/2006, the Finance of Education, Research and Extension, Universidade/UNESP-Campus Ilha Solteira, located in Selvíria-MS (20 ° 22'S, 51 º 22'W and 335m of altitude average) , evaluated the variability and spatial dependence among soil attributes and components of the soybean production, where rotational after winter maize on an Oxisol. Therefore, we studied the linear and spatial correlation between soil attributes (MA, MI, PT, DS, and MO) and the plant (AP, AV, NV, NG, MM and PG) with the goal of selecting that better to present to explain the grain yield of soybean. Thus, the area's agricultural FEPE / Cerrado, installed to geostatistics mesh containing 124 sampling points with spacing of 10.0 x 10.0 m, 5.0 x 5.0 x 1.67 m 1.67 m between them, a total area of 4000 m2. From a linear and space, was a direct correlation between the macroporosity, evaluated from zero-0, 10 m depth and grain yield of soybean, suggesting it as an indicator of soil physical quality searchable. / Doutor

Line Width Parameters and Center Frequency Shifts in the Rotational Spectrum of Methyl CyanideSwindle, David L. 05 1900 (has links)
Measurement of the line width parameters of a molecule is of interest because collision diameters can be calculated from them. This gives an effective size of the molecule when it is involved in interactions with other molecules. Further, specific types of interactions can be inferred from detailed information about the dependence of the line width upon pressure. In this paper, an experiment for measuring line width parameters for methyl cyanide is described and the results of the experiment are analyzed. This investigation was successful in obtaining precise values for the line width parameter for the J-J' = 0-1, J-J'= 1-2, and J-J' = 2-3 transitions of methyl cyanide which agree with experimental values of other researchers where available. It was found that standing waves were the dominant effect in the measurement of center frequency shift.
