A study on proportion problem-posing with grade six elementary school children

Chungyung, Jing-jan 24 June 2007 (has links)
The researcher used self-constructed problem-solving and problem-posing activity sheets to ask students to do solving and posing by themselves, then discuss together afterwards. When teaching was completed each time, the researcher asked students to write learning diaries. The researcher referred to the students¡¦ records on problem-solving and on problem-posing and analyzed the categories of students¡¦ work and the contents of posing problems that students created as well as problem-solving strategies. He also referred to students¡¦ learning diaries to investigate into students¡¦ reflections on their problem-posing, and to make a record of self reflections during his problem-posing activities implementation. The results of this research showed that most of the students given problems included sufficient data for problem solving. Students virtually were able to make feasible problems but only few students can change the structures of the original given problems. Most of these problems are ¡¥Exchange problem¡¦ which be solved correctly by themselves. Most students solved problems by using the strategy relating to Multiples. The most important factor for accuracy and solving strategy is number type on the proportion problems. Moreover, students expressed that they were able to acquire study methods and have great enjoyment from problem-posing. Also, the teacher found that during problem-posing, students will advance in thinking and creativity.

Prieto Matzuki, Percy Roberto January 2008 (has links)

E. Pauline Johnson and Walt Whitman rebury Red Jacket

Grewe, Lauren Marie 22 November 2013 (has links)
Side-by-side, surprisingly, in the appendix of the Buffalo Historical Society’s publication Obsequies of Red Jacket at Buffalo, E. Pauline Johnson and Walt Whitman memorialize Red Jacket’s reburial on October 9, 1884, with their respective poems, “The Re-interment of Red Jacket” and “Red Jacket, (From Aloft.).” Through this textual showdown, this report interrogates the usefulness of the vanishing Indians narrative, instead interpreting the event as the locus of a heterogeneous, spiritual contest over bodies and their potential significations. Although orchestrated by Buffalo’s European American elites, the reburial also included representatives from the Six Nations tribes, among them Mohawk Ely S. Parker as well as Johnson. Paying attention to heterogeneity, whether differences in religion, tribal affiliation or class, at the event allows us to understand the varying stakes of the conflict, from debates over Christianity to immigration to the establishment of literary and social relations. While Whitman, nearing the end of his life, contemplates proper memorialization in “Red Jacket, (From Aloft.),” Johnson deploys the elegy to lay claim to her Native ancestry and burgeoning literary career. Monumentalizations often attempt to conceal such heterogeneity by creating the illusion of a dominant, national narrative. Alive within these events, nevertheless, a different image persists, one that preserves the messy debates over religion, land settlement, immigration, citizenship and transforming Native governments that actual memorialization ceremonies create. / text

Stenberg, Sandra January 2014 (has links)

Zarembaitė, Vitalija 08 September 2009 (has links)
[toliau žr. visą tekstą] / Business process is: “A collection of related, structured activities – a chain of events- that produce a specific service or product for a particular customer or customers” [How06]. A simulation is an imitation of some real thing, state of affairs, or process. The supporting tools of process mapping and business process simulation are used in the change process and assist in communicating the current process design and people's roles in the overall performance of that design. The simulation model is also used to predict the performance of new designs incorporating the use of information technology. The approach is seen to have a number of advantages in the context of a public sector organization. These include the ability for personnel to move from a traditional grouping of staff in occupational groups with relationships defined by reporting requirements to a view of their role in a process, which delivers a performance to a customer. By running the simulation through time it is also possible to gauge how changes at an operational level can lead to the meeting of strategic targets over time. Business processes are increasingly recognized as the key to competitive survival. The important opportunities inherent to this invisible economic asset are the foundations of process-centered management. Simulation of business processes creates added value in understanding, analyzing and designing processes by introducing dynamic aspects. It provides decision support by anticipation of... In 1989, the District Six Museum Foundation was established in order to form a project that worked with the memory of District Six. Out of these origins, the District Six Museum emerged and was officially opened in 1994 with the museum in the 1980s occurred at the same moment that the social history movement assumed prominence within a progressive South African historiography. With the success of Streets, the decision to &lsquo / dig deeper&rsquo / into the social history of District Six culminated in the opening of the exhibition, Digging Deeper, in a renovated museum space in 2000. Oral history practice, as means of bringing to light the hidden and erased histories of the area, was embraced by the museum as an empowering methodology which would facilitate memory work around District Six. In tracing the evolution of an oral history practice in the museum, this study aims to understand how the poetics involved in the practices of representation and display impacted on the oral histories that were displayed in Digging Deeper. It also considers how the engagement with the archaeological discipline, during the curation of the Horstley Street display as part of Streets, impacted on how oral histories were displayed in the museum.

The "Root of Civil Conversion": Redefining Courtesy in Book VI of the Faerie Queene

Golden, Michelle 07 February 2007 (has links)
Book Six of The Faerie Queene deals with the complexities of courtesy in a socially changing world. Calidore, the protagonist of Book Six, sets out to defeat the Blatant Beast, the chief enemy of courtesy, but abandons his quest midway through the book in order to live the shepherds’ life. Despite the ethical ambiguity associated with Calidore’s abandoning his quest, this pastoral setting should enable him to deepen his understanding of the nature and practice of courtesy. However, Calidore is unable to grow, and the poet essentially gives up on his own poetic quest.
