Dahl, Eva January 2007 (has links)

Šafránková, Magdalena January 2013 (has links)

For research, I chose a sample of 21 students cook waiter field. In my thesis expand my research, because I want to prove whether the result is unique to college or is a general phenomenon among high school students. For the purposes of my research, I added one class schools, two gymnazium school classes, because this children are considered elite, and finally two classes of business school and for this reason that this type of education is visited the largest number of students. In my research I used combination od three methods. sociometric research, selected questions from the ESPAD questionnaire and interviews with selected students. Based on the research showed that the visible difference in the relation between social status and cannabis use at each school. The largest is in the school and the smallest is in the gymnazium.. This fact seems to me very interesting and I think that the fact this could work to solve this serious problem. In the theoretical part explains how to use the above methods, the effects and the influence of cannabis on humans. Keywords: Sociometry - cannabis - the status of the student -...

Astier-Perret, Sandrine 04 1900 (has links)
As part of the topical writings on the concept of place, this Master’s thesis applies the sociocriticism tools to the analysis of the representation of the home in contemporary Quebec novels, especially those of Catherine Mavrikakis, Elise Turcotte and Ying Chen. This analysis focuses on the Home sociogram as the core operational concept, its two main conflicting components being the "Home Sweet Home" and the "Haunted House". The deciphering work leans on the characteristics of this couple as expressed in the selected writings. While our time is defined by a "private space hyper-investment", as expressed by Gilles Deleuze, the house in the Quebec novels of the 2000's appears more as a location imprinted by the haunting, far from the reassuring image of the home sweet home as advertised in our society. Ghosts and wraiths invade this intimate space and become actors of the everyday life, revealing the profound unease of the occupants and the repression of a problematic past. The subject is therefore confronted to a "disturbing strangeness" in the heart of its home.

What is the Efficacy of Peer Presentation for English Languag Learners?

Roy, Courtney 01 August 2014 (has links)
This study investigates whether the learning strategy of Peer Presentations may positively influence an English Language Learner’s (ELL's) relationship with peers, and personal perspec-tives with pertinence to the sciences, public discourse, and their institution. Data collection in-struments included a developed pre- and post-sociometric survey to quantitate each classroom's social status, and a pre- and post-qualitative oral interview to acquire individual perceptions con-cerning enjoyment and contentment of academic topics. Three ELLs from two learning environ-ments participated with the eight day intervention, comprising of 45 minute instructive sessions to become proficient with demonstrating an arrangement of invigorating yet harmless scientific experiments. After the Peer Presentation, analysis of pre- and post-sociometric results demon-strated an overall increase of more intimate friendships. Examination of the ELLs' oral inter-view responses indicated growth of enjoyment regarding their institution and public discourse. Overall recommendations and suggestions of utilizing Peer Presentations are discussed for those involved with educating students.

Relationship formation in multicultural primary school classrooms

Mathunyane, Lenkwane Henry 06 1900 (has links)
The research was undertaken to analyse and evaluate the nature and quality of interactions in multicultural primary school classrooms. Special attention was focused on the influence 25 independent variables had on the dependent variable, namely group membership. Literature indicates that warm and nurturant relationships within the family help the child to achieve independence and promote social adjustment outside the home. Literature also reveals that self-acceptance and acceptance of others are dependent on the self-concept, and that acceptability in peer groups is enhanced by characteristics such as friendliness, cooperation, emotional stability and intellectual ability. It is essential to mention that some researchers claim that within multicultural classrooms, pupils often interact in racially and culturally segregated patterns. Others maintain that no racial and cultural discrimination is evident in the choice of friends in multicultural classrooms. The empirical research was undertal<.en by administering four measuring instruments, namely own designed questionnaire, the sociogram, the self-concept scale for primary school pupils and the children's personality questionnaire to 121 standard five pupils in multicultural primary schools. The administering of these instruments was aimed at determining the influence of the independent variables on the dependent variable. The stepwise discriminant analysis method revealed that of the 25 independent variables, only six, namely family background, friendship skills, gender, scholastic achievement and personality factors E (submissive versus dominant) and Q3 (undisciplined versus controlled) contributed to the variance in group membership. The multiple discriminant function was used to determine how close the individual scores of children were, in a given friendship group. The general pattern obtained, indicated that children choose each other on the basis of similar characteristics. A point that clearly came to light, is that race and language/culture do not contribute to the variance in group membership. Children formed various friendship groups across racial and cultural lines. In view of the aforementioned findings, the researcher made recommendations on ways in which parents and teachers can create suitable teaching and learning environments for children from diverse cultural milieus. / Psychology of Education / D.Ed.
