What is the meaning of a sandbox / Vad har en sandlåda för betydelse

Bergqvist, Björn January 2013 (has links)
This thesis project uses various Industrial design methods to create a concept that will evolve a sandbox into a more versatile and interesting playing area. By using parts that can be attached to the frame of the sandbox many different versions can be built to suit different demands and needs. The concept also uses lights and decorated panels to make the sandbox more interesting and visible in today's colorful playgrounds. The project is based on the meaning different stakeholders could have in the product. Research has shown that products made with the help of stakeholders has a better chance to be realized. The findings from research by interviews, fieldtrips and library studies were used as reference when sketching and building sketch-models. Sketching is used both for ideation and for explanatory pictures and has been a big part of the project. Many of the sketches and photos can be seen in the report and in the attachments.

Power and Development : Controversies over the Bujagali Hydropower Porject Along the Nile River in Uganda

Luwa, Kilama Justine January 2007 (has links)
Mega projects are in most cases considered as the necessary evil of development. Before their benefits can be reaped, a lot of sacrifices and tough choices have to be made. The fear and uncertainties surrounding such projects range from the impacts on the local people, on the environment, the costs of investment, and to, if the project will deliver the promised benefits. Because of these fears and uncertainties, it is not unusual that most if not all such projects meet a lot of critics and resistance before their success or failures are witnessed. Today, it is more of a requirement than a belief (although without a guarantee) that stakeholders’ involvement and their active participation in all decision-making process concerning a project is the surest way of minimizing conflicts and ensuring justice. The Bujagali hydropower project being an example of such projects and without immunity to the problems faced by other mega project around the world has been a case study for this thesis. This study has therefore focused on institutional arrangements that governed the management and utilization of water resources in connection to hydropower development along the Nile River in Uganda, the procedures and stages of the negotiations for hydropower infrastructure development in Uganda, identified the major stakeholders that take part in such negotiations and looked in detail for what their issues and interests are. It has also examined the attitudes and opinions of stakeholders on the potential and benefits of hydropower against (solar, bio-fuel and geothermal) energy sources in the context of Uganda, taking into consideration the need for socio-economic development, preservation of culture and environmental protection. Finally, it has analyzed the conflicts/controversies that have arisen in the Bujagali hydropower project.

Branding Södertälje : en studie av förutsättningarna för samarbete mellan de interna intressenterna

Mineur, Patrik, Pirttikoski, Johanna January 2011 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to examine the possibilities for cooperation between the internal stakeholders of a city's branding process. Based on the purpose for this thesis a qualitative study was conducted in the form of seven interviews with stakeholders in the branding process of Södertälje. Scientific theories, focusing primarily on the branding of cities and cooperation, have been used in the analysis of the collected information. The conclusions we have drawn in this thesis is that cooperation as a strategy is possible but can be limited when applied on a city. By examining the branding process in Södertälje, we have noted the complexity that exists in the branding of a city with several different stakeholders. We believe that the prospects for cooperation between the internal stakeholders in the tourism and hospitality industry in Södertälje to be possible through commitment, shared responsibility and communication. We do however believe that disagreements may occur when a broader spectrum of the city’s stakeholders, whom do not feel a natural role to participate, are included in the branding process.

We wish to find out the role CG and CSR played in this success critically. The expected contributions of this work will be to see the visibility of CG CSR in a bank like GB which has deviated from conventional banking models and how this has influenced its growth.

A Leader’s Challenge – Are Environmental Frindliness and Business Compatible? : An investigation of eco-friendly managerial behaviour in Swedish and German small and midsize enterprises.

Miller, Daniel, Schaller, Simon January 2012 (has links)
Due to the global warming, the increase in greenhouse gases and the resulting threat for the environment, not only private households have to rethink their behaviour towards the environment, but also companies and organisations have a responsibility towards their environment. Therefore, we investigated several small and midsize enterprises in order to understand their way of implementing strategies of eco-friendliness and thus contributing to the ‘green revolution’ which is apparently in progress. The managers and company leaders provided us with their personal experiences in implementing environmental certificates and Environmental Management Systems. We learned that the trigger point for the implementation of certificates or management systems is often a stakeholder demand. Therefore, our theoretical framework presents our personal understanding of leadership, an example of the relationship of leadership and eco-friendliness, the conflicts of interest within different roles leaders are often captured in, the presentation of personally chosen environmental certificates and stakeholder theory.

Chang, Chia-chi 20 June 2007 (has links)
This study is to research the ¡§Corruption Prevention and Profits Promotion of Corporate Governance in our country¡¨. Recently, companies have encountered the corporate governance problems globally and indicate that corporate governance have not been fulfilled exactly. It not only failed to maximize the profit of shareholders and stakeholders, and even worse, unable to make the investment money get back. Furthermore, it will also cause bad effects that associate with the social instability and weaken the economic development. In view of the reasons that contribute to the occurrence of company scandals, most of people will think it¡¦s due to lack of monitoring and supervision of companies. But this should be merely the direct reasons. Apart form this, it has to be added with indirect causes of inability of company strategy leadership and cause financial problems to occur consequently. It¡¦s obvious that monitoring with corruption prevention and leadership work to profit promotion are two essential features of corporate governance. In the aspect of monitoring system enhancement, this paper has investigated the current supervision problems of corporate governance and provided improvement suggestions accordingly. To the issue of evaluating these two systems regarding independent directors and existing supervisors, several fundamental but important points have been reviewed and recommendations have been provided. In consideration of increasing leadership management performance and building a multi-purposes board, we recommend taking British mode of a balancing board as a good reference example. It¡¦s recommended that both characteristics of independent monitoring and excellent ability of promoting company¡¦s profit should be taken into account simultaneously when choosing directors. It¡¦s expected that the board can fulfill the duties of monitoring the company efficiently and playing the role as excellent navigator successfully to lead the company going forward continuously. It¡¦s all wish that owing to these dual functions have been stressed and developed; it can bring a new era to our corporate governance.

An Empirical Research of the Integrative Framework for Green Management on Business: The Study of Taiwan's Chemical Engineering, Electronics, Informantion and Communication Industries

Huang, Yi- Chun 19 July 2001 (has links)
Abstract An important milestone in the history of management thought to consider how managers control the organization's relationship with its external environment in the 1960s late. Historically, management theory has used a narrow and parochial concept of environment that emphasizes political, economic, social, and technological aspects to the virtual exclusion of the natural environment. Therefore, the history of scholarship focusing on the management of organizations in the natural environment is relatively brief, compared to that in other environment-oriented academic fields. The researches on business and green issues have sprouted since the middle of 1990s. However, these researches only discuss the responding strategies adopted by businesses sector because of stricter regulations. The specialties of the researches conducted were based on understanding ¡§What companies do¡¨ rather than ¡§Why do they do it¡¨? Base on the explanations above, this study tries to answer the three research topics: 1. Organization response to the environmental issues what is the green management to be adopted? 2. What are the factors to influence the green management? 3. How does green management impact on organizational performance? By structural equation modeling, the purpose of this study, therefore, attempts to present a framework that synthesizes the factors of institutional environment, technical environment, stakeholders, organizational structure and environmental performance and then explore these relationships with four industries in Taiwan's manufacturers. In 235 valid samples, this study finds that, in respect of green management, clean product operation is higher than proactive administrative management and green marketing activities. Green management has apparently positive correlation with the factors of institutional environment, technical environment and stakeholders. This study also finds that, the factor of organizational structure apparently positive effect managerial and operational performance. Green management apparently positive effect managerial and operational performance. Managerial performance has apparently positive influence on operational performance.

Planning for Information Systems Development : A Framework for supporting the management of Success Factors

Aggestam, Lena January 2002 (has links)

In the information systems development process there are important success factors. By doing an extensive literature survey we have found that these factors emerge mainly from organisational issues concerning the objective of the process and the stakeholders. One factor - to discuss the system, its subsystems and to define the system's boundary - is a prerequisite for all the others. Factors emerging from the objective are mainly about the objective being well analysed and defined, being accepted among the stakeholders and meeting business objectives. Factors emerging from stakeholders are mainly about involving the right stakeholders in the process, achieving a positive attitude and taking care of their needs about knowledge and confidence. Based on this we have developed a framework aiming to guide organisations in what considerations they should make before the project begins. As a result of our framework there will be both a clear objective, which support the business mission, as well as positive stakeholders to support the information systems development process.
