Isolamento e identificação de Acanthamoeba spp. em spas e piscinas térmicas localizadas em Porto Alegre, RS - Brasil / Isolation and identification of Acanthamoeba spp. from thermal swimming pools and spas in Porto Alegre, RS - Brasil

Fabres, Laura Fuhrich January 2014 (has links)
Free-living amoebae (FLA) are widely distributed in soil and water. A few number of them are implicated in human disease: Acanthamoeba spp., Naegleria fowleri, Balamuthia mandrillaris and Sappinia diploidea. Some of the infections were opportunistic, occurring mainly in immunocompromised hosts, while others are non opportunistic. Water samples were collecyed from both hot tubs and thermal swimming pools in the city of Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil, to determine the presence of Acanthamoeba in the water as well as perform the phenotypic and genotypic characterization of the isolates. Amoebae were isolated in monoxenic culture with Eschererichia coli. The identification of the isolates was based on the cysts morphology and PCR amplification using genus-specific oligonucleotides. From 72 samples analyzed, 20 (27,77%) were positive for free-living amoebae, and the isolates were morphologically identified as belonging to the genus Acanthamoeba. Out of these, 11 presented morphological characteristics compatible with group II, and 9 with group III. Among the isolates, 11 (55%) were considered potentially pathogenic according to osmotolerance and temperature assays. The isolates when submitted to PCR reaction only 9 were confirmed as belonging to the genus Acanthamoeba. The sequences analysis when compare to the sequences in the GenBank, showed that genotype distribution in group T3 (11,1%), T5 (11,1%), T4 (33,3%) and T15 (44,4%). The results of this study confirmed the presence of potentially pathogenic isolates of free living amoebae in hot swimming pool and spas which can present risks to human health.

L’apprentissage par situation complexe en EPS au collège, rôles de la coopération et de la compétition en natation de vitesse chez des élèves de 5ème / Learning by complex situation in Physical Education (PE), role of cooperation and competition in speed swimming for 8th grade collège students.

Le Briquer, Yannick 22 December 2017 (has links)
This work examines the advantages of training in speed swimming complex situations for 8th grade pupils and there are many theoretical bases attached to it. The competencies-based approach (APC in French) at school, according to the pedagogy of integration, invites to conceive complex situations leading pupils to integrate their resources to solve problems. This teaching approach is also based on the development and acquisition social psychology putting forward training devices, social interactions and verbal exchanges. More precisely, this work is built according to the socioconstructivist principles of the co-operative learning. During a sequence of twelve PE sessions, two groups of pupils in two different teaching conditions, were tested in complex situations. This work pursues three goals. Initially, we compared pupils according to the condition (individual/interactive), their acquisitions on the physical, social and methodological levels. The results reveal more important progress on the level of chronometric performances for the pupils of the interactive condition. Then, we examined the resources, induced by the complex situation in the process of “setting in synergy”. To be prepared to integrate his complex situation resources optimizes the development of physical, cognitive and social skills. Lastly, our observations reveal the effects of competition on the pupils’ co-operation. The training by complex situation optimizes the coordination of individual skills to succeed in the collective performance.

Swimming Pool

Nilsson, Linette January 2017 (has links)
My project started with two words: Swimming Pool. They came to me through a song, Banshee Beat by Animal Collective (2005). To me, their music is mystical, abstract, unpredictable and also metaphorical. So I started to think about if a swimming pool could be something more than just an open container filled with water. After some thinking I came to the conclusion that it could be a metaphor for something calm, quiet and dreamy. However, I’m not sure but my aim is not to get to a specific answer through this project.  I’ll turn the metaphor into a textile work that portrays what you see when you’re standing at the edge of the swimming pool; a distorted picture of a grid, the bottom of the pool. I’ll be working with dyeing, patchwork and quilting. The textile craft is important in this project because of how relaxed and calm I get by doing things with my hands.  The questions I’m asking myself are how I can express the metaphor through my work? What if my interpretation is too wide? Is it possible for me to create a tactile and calm feeling without the physical touch?

Dermal Absorption Of A Dilute Aqueous Solution Of Malathion

Scharf, John E, MD 11 July 2003 (has links)
Malathion is a commonly used organophosphate pesticide on field crops, fruits, nut trees, vegetables, livestock, agricultural premises, and land. The approved uses also include mosquito and medfly control. These uses can result in human skin contact. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the human skin absorption of malathion for the purpose of assessing the risks associated with aqueous solution exposures following applications. Aerial applications can result in solubilized malathion in swimming pools and other waters that may be contacted. Human volunteers were selected and exposed to aqueous solutions of malathion at various concentrations. Participants submerged their arms and hands in twenty liters of dilute malathion solution in either a stagnant or stirred environment. The "disappearance method" was applied by measuring malathion concentrations in the water before and after human subject exposure to the water for various periods of time. Malathion was measured using Gas Chromatography. No measurable skin absorption was detected in 42% of the participants. Measurable skin absorption among the remaining 58% of participants resulted in doses that were more than an order of magnitude less than the minimal dose necessary to cause a measurable change in red blood cell acetylcholinesterase (RBC-AChE). Extrapolation of these results to a mathematical model for recreational swimmers and bathers exposed to contaminated swimming pools and surface waters typically detected after bait application again are an order of magnitude below the doses needed to cause a detectable change in RBC-AChE. These data indicate that exposure to aqueous malathion following usual aerial bait applications is not appreciably absorbed, and therefore, it is not a public health hazard.

Centrum volnočasových aktivit Brno-Brněnská přehrada / Leisure time centre Brno - Brno reservoir

Hamrová, Martina January 2012 (has links)
The new proposed building Leisure time centre Brno is to create a dignified place for leisure activities, especially for water sports and more attractive place around the Brno dam. Rowing sport has a long tradition near Brno and also today there are two rowing clubs and this sport is in great demand. The new center will offer more options, greater capacity and more advanced technology. The basic idea of architectural design is to incorporate the object into the environment so as not to interfere with the character of the surrounding landscape and doesn‘t protrude from the surrounding buildings. Leisure time centre consists of two buildings, rowing club and accommodation for students. Both objects are separated by different shapes . The building of Rowing Club consists of four masses whose shape is inspired s of rowing sport, especially shape of oars. There was effort to create an architectural form that will be close to the sport, its curves will be resemble the motion, grace and speed…..they are characteristics of rowing sport. In the building is located restaurant, administrative part, sports part and boathouse. Accommodation for students is in the form of rails, offers accommodation for students who represent their faculty in the rowing sport.
