Infarkto gydymo įvairiais vaistais statistiniai tyrimo metodai / The statistical methods of investigation of the infarction treatment with the help of different drugs

Stasiukaitytė, Irma 10 June 2004 (has links)
The goal of the present thesis is to ascertain the impact of different drugs, intended for the infarction treatment; investigation of the other factors, which may stipulate bleeding in the course of the operation and within the post-operation period. The investigation was carried out in two stages. During the first stage the data was accumulated for processing (investigation of the sample homogeneity and normality); the second stage implied solution of the statistical tasks (solution of the tasks, which correspond to the goals of the thesis). The methods of data analysis and the models of binary logistic and linear logistic regression were applied. 89 patients, who survived the myocarditis infarction, were investigated and it was ascertained that there is no huge difference in between the tranexamic acid and aprotinin. The bleeding complications may be caused by aspirin, which has been used before the operation. One of the complications, i.e. the drainage, may be predicted, judging from the amount of haemoglobin, haematocrit in the blood as well as creatinin. The model of the binary logistic regression assisted us in drawing the conclusion that smoking, hypothermia, euroscore and other factors produce an impact upon the bleeding complications.

ROBUST STATISTICAL METHODS FOR NON-NORMAL QUALITY ASSURANCE DATA ANALYSIS IN TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS

Uddin, Mohammad Moin 01 January 2011 (has links)
The American Association of Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) require the use of the statistically based quality assurance (QA) specifications for construction materials. As a result, many of the state highway agencies (SHAs) have implemented the use of a QA specification for highway construction. For these statistically based QA specifications, quality characteristics of most construction materials are assumed normally distributed, however, the normality assumption can be violated in several forms. Distribution of data can be skewed, kurtosis induced, or bimodal. If the process shows evidence of a significant departure from normality, then the quality measures calculated may be erroneous. In this research study, an extended QA data analysis model is proposed which will significantly improve the Type I error and power of the F-test and t-test, and remove bias estimates of Percent within Limit (PWL) based pay factor calculation. For the F-test, three alternative tests are proposed when sampling distribution is non-normal. These are: 1) Levene’s test; 2) Brown and Forsythe’s test; and 3) O’Brien’s test. One alternative method is proposed for the t-test, which is the non-parametric Wilcoxon - Mann – Whitney Sign Rank test. For PWL based pay factor calculation when lot data suffer non-normality, three schemes were investigated, which are: 1) simple transformation methods, 2) The Clements method, and 3) Modified Box-Cox transformation using “Golden Section Search” method. The Monte Carlo simulation study revealed that both Levene’s test and Brown and Forsythe’s test are robust alternative tests of variances when underlying sample population distribution is non-normal. Between the t-test and Wilcoxon test, the t-test was found significantly robust even when sample population distribution was severely non-normal. Among the data transformation for PWL based pay factor, the modified Box-Cox transformation using the golden section search method was found to be the most effective in minimizing or removing pay bias. Field QA data was analyzed to validate the model and a Microsoft® Excel macro based software is developed, which can adjust any pay consequences due to non-normality.

Medarbetare och chefers upplevelser av feedback : En enkätstudie om feedback / Co-workers and managers' experiences of feedback : A survey about feedback

Sjölander, Elin, Jansson, Sara January 2018 (has links)
I resultatet visades två  signifikanta skillnader. / The purpose of the study was to provide knowledge about how feedback is given and  experienced within a specific company context in the warehouse and distribution industry.  The study examined the differences between employee experiences of feedback regarding  genders, period of employment and age. Furthermore, similarities and differences were  found between managers and employees' experiences of feedback. The study was  quantitative with a deductive approach. Surveys were used to collect the data and a total  of 55 employees and 8 managers answered the survey. The data were analyzed with  Independent Sample t-test. In the result, two significant differences were noticed. The first  showed that the male employees were more often told that they had done a less good work  and the other difference showed that the male employees more often received praise from  the managers. There were also differences in how managers and employees experienced  feedback. Employees felt it was important to get feedback to help them develop. A  conclusion in this study was that employees' experiences of feedback tend to differ  depending on gender.

Regionální konvergence v EU: Jakou roli hraje sektor Business Services? / Regional Convergence in the European Union: Do the Business Services Make the Difference?

Pintera, Jan January 2018 (has links)
Despite years of deepening economic integration among the states and regions of the European Union, empirical research remains inconclusive about speed of convergence across regions, if not its existence. This thesis provides novel evidence on convergence in the EU while focusing on development at regional level after the Great Recession. It uses recently developed log t convergence test by Phillips and Sul (2007). Our findings speak against the convergence in level of income per capita among the European regions and give us five clubs of regions converging in their income growth rates instead. Investigating further the geographical distribution of the convergence clubs, we confirm high inequality within the member states and find large continuous area of high convergence clubs in the urbanized part of Western Europe. Furthermore, we investigated the determinants of convergence club membership using Logistic Regression. The main explanatory variable of interest were Business Services (BS), a dynamic sector of the economy with presumably strong positive effect on regional innovative potential. We found positive effect of BS on membership in higher convergence clubs. Yet, this effect seems to diminish for the very highest club.

Statistical Analysis of Team Training in Emergency Management Simulator System

Jahangir, Muhammad Nasir, Fahadullah, Muhammad January 2009 (has links)
In this thesis work, we compare the results obtained from two kinds of teams forming a hierarchical organization participating in a fire fighting simulation environment called as C3Fire. First kind of teams used paper-based maps for spatial reasoning of the command tool while the other kind of teams has GIS based maps with full access to positioning data of the fire fighting units as well as sensor information about fire break. The collected data was from 11 teams of each kind having 6 members in each team making a total of 132 participants belonging to different parts of the world. We made a statistical analysis on the data with help of T-Test statistical medhod and a tool is designed by using Java as programming language and PostgreSQL database for importing data from log files and then applying statistical T-Test method on the fetching data from log files. The results are stored in database as well as excel files. Then a comparison is done to analyze the unit performance, communication and efficiency of both kinds of teams.

Implicitní zdanění spotřeby v zemích EU / Implicit taxation of consumption in European Union member states

Milostná, Martina January 2013 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with analyzing of tax burden on consumption in European Union member states. The goal of hypothesis testing was to decide whether the tax burden on consumption in European countries is in convergence or not. The method used in the thesis is the test equivalence of two mean values (t-test). The work begins with the consumption taxes and their harmonization. Next two parts are focused on indicators of consumption tax revenues and implicit tax rates. Tax burden on cigarettes is analyzed in the last chapter. Statistical hypothesis are tested in practically oriented chapters. Differences in consumption taxation between groups of new and old member states in European Union are evaluated by the tests. Differences are tested also in each group between the years 1995 and 2011. Statistically significant difference wasn't found in most cases in the thesis. Tests approved that consumption taxation in the European Union is not in convergence.
