The diploma thesis Teaching English Effectively with an Interactive Whiteboard deals with the phenomenon of interactive whiteboards; their characteristics, installation in schools, possible ways of use and contributions to English lessons. The main aims are to examine the tool from various perspectives, to research the situation of IWBs in the Czech Republic and to provide technical as well as methodological support for teachers of English as a foreign language. The theoretical part summarises facts about interactive whiteboards on the basis of worldwide research and publications, whereas the main body is more teacher-oriented and focuses on the practical aspects of using IWBs at schools. Therefore, it includes a survey, guidelines with many ideas, sample activities created in the software ActiveInspire and accompanied by a detailed commentary, and finally, training for teachers which was organised in Prague. The goal of this diploma work is the suggestion of multimedia didactic material about Africa for the second degree of basic schools. It includes not only the interactive textbook but also a methodical manual which contains commentaries about particular slides and solving the tasks from the textbook. The teaching text proceeds from current didactic documents, as well as from specialized literature and existing textbooks and workbooks for the second degree of basic schools which contain school work about Africa. The didactic analysis and evaluation of these books is also a part of this diploma work.

Využití interaktivní tabule ve výuce českého jazyka na 1. stupni základních škol / The Use of the Interactive Whiteboard in Czech Language at Basic School

The main aim of this diploma thesis is to describe the advantages and disadvantages of using interactive whiteboards in the Czech language lessons in the first grade of primary schools. The thesis contains a theoretical part that includes the first three chapters and a practical part that composed of two chapters. In the first charter of the theoretical part is presented the historical development of interactive whiteboards and its gradual implementation into teaching process. The second chapter provides an overview of the requirements that every teacher should take into account when using interactive whiteboards. In the next part are presented most frequently mentioned advantages and disadvantages, both from the perspectives of teachers and students. The main data sources of educational materials are described in the third charter that also contains the specification of different exercises. The practical part of the work is based on the own research that was realized through a questionnaire among 50 teachers. The subject of the fourth chapter is a detailed description of the various questions and also the presentation of the results. Fifth charter focuses on analyzing of the results and there are also introduced the recommendations which, in the author's opinion, should lead to more effective way of teaching with interactive whiteboard.

The thesis is devided into two parts, theoretical one and practical one. In the theoretical part I deal with motivation to learning, constructivism, rating the teaching materials and interactivity in the school surrounding. I state my conclusions from lessons, where I used the prepaired worksheets with secondary vocational school students. The practical part includes my own created worksheets for teaching with interactive whiteboard and their use in teaching on a secondary vocational school.

It includes research that builds on the bachelor thesis ,,The leaf as an organ of higher plants - creation of photographic collection of leaves". The theoretical part contains an analysis of the objectives and trends of contemporary learning and teaching methods, and also summarizes the interconnection of teaching leaf morphology with the FEP. The practical part contains an interactive learning program with elements of inquiry-based education aimed at teaching leaf morphology. The research in this paper compares the quality of students' knowledge learned by the compiled program and the students learned the traditional way.

The theoretical part is focused on describing the interactive whiteboard, development and description of particular language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) and language subskills (grammar, pronunciation). The practical part deals with a preparation of some English classes. From observation of the classes, from the interviews with teachers and the questionnaire among pupils I will make a conclusion for training which language skills and subskills it is good to use the interactive whiteboard.
