Smětáková, Martina January 2013 (has links)
Title of master thesis Effect of ski-mountaineering equipment on energy expenditure of skiing. Work objectives The aim of this study was to determine the effect of weight ski equipment energy performance when walking on snow. Methods The study included 6 skialpinists a mean age of 30 ± 5.5 years. Energy intensity was measured on the basis of breathe oxygen (VO2) and exhaled (VCO2). The measurements were used 3 types of ski-hiking equipment (light - medium x 3160 g - 7754 g x heavy - 9600 g). Each test first completed section in a time of 6 minutes flat terrain (0ř), after which he immediately set out to climb the 360 m long route at an angle (20ř). These two sections (0ř and 20ř) graduated in random order for each type of equipment and at a constant speed of 1 m·s-1 . Results The results show that energy intensity decreases significantly when using ultralight ski equipment. We found that the climb at an angle of 20ř is the difference in oxygen consumption (VO2) between moderate and light equipment 9.6% between heavy and light equipment 17.7% and medium-heavy and heavy equipment 7,4%. The average VO2 test with light equipment was 44.4 ± 3.7 ml·kg-1 ·min-1 , with moderate equipment 48.7 ± 5.6 ml·kg- 1 ·min-1 and heavy equipment 52.2 ± 4.8 ml·kg-1 ·min-1 . At 0ř inclination and moderate use of heavy...

The project has been done in cooperation with Schenker Åkeri AB in Sweden, Halmstad. The project is based on an inspection made by Arbetsmiljöverket, where they found minor shortcomings with distribution of goods for the employees. The project is an investigation of the drivers’ working environment. Schenker Logistics is one of the world's leading providers of integrated logistics services. Schenker Åkeri AB is a subsidiary to Schenker Logistics and transports 2.4 million tons of goods yearly. The project started with a background study to evaluate drivers working environment. We have studied goods receptions, the working environment, strain injury and injury mechanisms. Methods used was observations, tests, questionnaire surveys and ergonomic and biomechanical calculations. One result of the study is a working model, which gives recommendations for the maximum weight a driver should push and pull. A truck evaluation was done to exam the need for new technical equipment. An ergonomic investigation was done to investigate the drivers’ working tasks. A questionnaire was given to the drivers to evaluate their working environment and tasks. The questionnaire involved questions about stress, handling of goods and technical equipment. Together with Schenker Åkeri AB in Halmstad, an action plan was made. This action plan will be handed over to Arbetsmiljöverket by Schenker.

Technical equipment for measuring various health parameters

Olsson, Amanda, Olsson, Ida January 2024 (has links)
Various forms of stress are very common in modern society and can lead to significant negative effects. One contributing factor to stress is the digital world, where almost everything today is expected to be digitally. Digital devices are becoming increasingly prevalent, and today many people use technological equipment to measure various health parameters. Previous research shows that the technical equipment can easily lead to dependency, which in turn can lead to perceived stress. The aim of this study is to increase knowledge about adults' perception of stress when using technical devices that measure various health parameters in daily life and during physical activity. This is a cross-sectional study where the research aim was addressed through survey. To participate in the survey, individuals had to be 18 years or older and use some kind of technical device that measures various health parameters. There were 37 adults who participated in the study and the respondents answered questions about what types of technical devices they used but also different statements to be able to see if the technical devices contributed to increased self-conscious stress or not. The result (N=37) shows that the self-perceived stress level is a "medium level" on a scale between 1-5 (M=2.3).  The results also show that background factors such as gender and age also play a role when it comes to self-perceived stress. Women have higher self-rated stress linked to the technical equipment than men do and adults between 30-50 years have the highest self-perceived stress.
