Personlighet, mellangruppskontakt och fördomar om thailändska minoritetsgrupper

Skog, Daniel January 2009 (has links)

An analysis of local Karang culture, knowledge, and natural resource use patterns in the Kaengkrachan National Park, Phetchaburi, Thailand

Rojanasaeng, Nonglak 10 December 2001 (has links)
This study analyses the culture, knowledge and resource use patterns of the Karang tribe in Phong-Luk village, which is located at the Kaengkrachan National Park. The goal of this project is to reveal the culture-based local wisdom of the Karang tribe that is consistent with sustainable environmental resource management and to recommend guidelines for governments to revise existing policies related to the tribe that are relevant with their cultural ways of life. This project is expected to enhance awareness of local wisdom and offer a strategy to relieve the pressure of resource use between the tribe and the national park. The specific objectives of this research were to 1) analyze the local production practices, land utilization practices and belief, and 2) identify and analyze the key issues of local wisdom that are consistent with the conservation and sustainable management of the local natural resources and the environment. Finally, the analysis explored the affects of the existing policies (e.g., national park and development promotion policies) on the tribe's livelihood and the expected impact on the natural environments due to the shift in practices of the tribe. analysis explored the affects of the existing policies (e.g., national park and development promotion policies) on the tribe's livelihood and the expected impact on the natural environments due to the shift in practices of the tribe. This research utilized a qualitative research methodology to study and understand the overall picture of the community. Interview and observation techniques were used to identify the important issues, which included the history and settlement of the community, production patterns, land utilization patterns, belief systems, relationships within the community and government policies. The research indicates that traditional production practices, traditional land tenure arrangements and cultural beliefs provide the tribe a means of self-reliance and environmental sustainability. However, these customary practices and beliefs are being threatened by government policies. Therefore, the recommendations are provided to guide policymakers in ways to incorporate the wisdom of the tribe in future decisions. / Graduation date: 2002

Applicability of Sufficiency Economy – A Thai philosophy in a wider perspective

Ehnberg, Bobby, Lundell, Sara January 2008 (has links)
Thailand’s economy has gone through a quick development during the past two decades As a result of the economic crisis in 1997, His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej introduced the philosophy of sufficiency economy (SE). SE is built upon a model which can be used every day, notonly during crises, to strengthen the economy within the country and the society. Due to the worldwide attention on the philosophy it is interesting to research how applicable SE is in Sweden or generally worldwide. The aim of the field study and the thesis is to obtain a contemporary interpretation of the applicability of sufficiency economy. The approach of the field study consisted of four main steps; feasibility study, research tool, the field study procedure and evaluation. The study includes a literature study with a combination of interviews with key persons, a multinational company situated in Bangkok and Thai students. The intention of the selection was to obtain a conceptual interpretation of SE in relation to the interviewed people. The answers of the different groups were first put in their own context, and then a comparison was made in order to make the analysis.Several different opinions were uncovered regarding the interpretation of SE. It is necessary to interpret it at an individual level. The rational decision making and following the middle way is important to achieve a balanced life. However it is a knowledge gap within theThai society where it is important to have a stable government and the right spokesman of SE. / Mior Field Studies via SIDA

Breastfeeding attitudes and confidence among mothers in a rural area of Thailand

Westmar, Hanna, Johansson, Lisa January 2013 (has links)
Attitudes and confidence among women can predict the duration of exclusive breastfeeding. The longer duration of breastfeeding, the more advantages there are for both mother and child. Aim: The aim of this study was to explore how the attitudes and the confidence were among Thai mothers and if there was a difference between nuclear families and extended families in these issues. Method: A descriptive comparative cross-sectional study with a quantitative method was performed by using IIFAS (Iowa Infant Feeding Attitude Scale) and BSES (Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale) as measurement tools. Orem´s self-care theory was used as a theoretical framework with 79 voluntary participating women at a well-baby clinic in Bang Pa-In, Ayudhaya, Thailand. Result: The outcome of the study demonstrated that the majority of the women had a neutral attitude towards breastfeeding, 13% had a positive attitude towards formula feeding and 7% had a positive attitude towards breastfeeding. No significance was found between mothers living with nuclear and extended family regarding the attitude. The majority rated high confidence in breastfeeding. Mothers who were living in nuclear families rated lower than mothers living in extended families in “refrain from bottle-feeding for the first 4 weeks” regarding confidence in breastfeeding. Conclusion: The attitude to and the confidence in breastfeeding were relatively good among Thai mothers in Bang Pa-In, Ayudhaya, however improvements are needed. The findings of this study could be useful for Swedish and Thai nurses in their information about breastfeeding to women. Further studies are needed to follow the attitudes and confidence along with the economic development for the improvement of the exclusive breastfeeding rates.

Gustavsson, Isabell, Hovold, Maria January 2012 (has links)
