This thesis discloses my exploration of non-isochronous meters through composition and practice. During my two-year studies at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, I explored different unevenly divided time signatures by practicing them in various ways, producing transcriptions, compositions and arrangements.The main purpose of this project was to further my knowledge and skills within these time signatures and thereby expand my horizon on perceiving, conceptualizing, composing and playing them. My endeavors culminated in seven original compositions, arranged for a jazz sextet, which I rehearsed and performed with an ensemble. During the process of composing, arranging, practicing and rehearsing, I gained a lot of articulated knowledge as well as embodied knowledge of the idiosyncrasies of various non-isochronous meters and different ways to perceive and play them.

Syftet var att inom kompositionsprocessen synliggöra och studera viktiga parametrar och utvecklingsområden, samt jämföra resultatet mellan avsikten, slutresultatet av kompositionen och det som hände där emellan. Kompositionerna som har legat till grund för arbetet är två stycken för storband och ett stycke för tenorsaxofon och kammarensemble. Styckena och den kreativa processen analyseras utifrån ett personligt kompositionsperspektiv och resultatet visar att det genom målmedvetet arbete är möjligt att utveckla sin teknik och speciella beståndsdelar. Slutsatsen är att det går att förändra väl rotade vanor om man önskar det men att det kräver tid, mod och engagemang. / This master thesis has been written in the form of an essay. The purpose has been to unfold important parameters within the compositional process and to reflect upon how various parameters developed during this process. Additionally, it has been my aim to evaluate the results with respect to my intentions. Three compositions were analyzed. Two pieces for big band and one piece for tenor saxophone and chamber ensemble. The compositions and the creative process were analyzed from the composer's view. The result shows that it has been possible to develop my own compositional technique and various personal ingredients through deliberate practise of my compositional skills. This thesis is focused on hash families and cover-free families and their application to problems in cryptography. We present new necessary conditions for generalized separating hash families, and provide new explicit constructions. We then consider three cryptographic applications of hash families and cover-free families. We provide a stronger de nition of anonymity in the context of shared symmetric key primitives and give a new scheme with improved anonymity properties. Second, we observe that nding the invalid signatures in a set of digital signatures that fails batch veri cation is a group testing problem, then apply and compare many group testing algorithms to solve this problem e ciently. In particular, we apply group testing algorithms based on cover-free families. Finally, we construct a one-time signature scheme based on cover-free families with short signatures.

The purpose of this essay is to inspire and find ways to incorporate different time signatures in jazz dance education. Through literature studies, a focus group and an own analysis leading up to the meeting with the focus group, I founded a base of knowledge, but also material to analyze. By comparing my different sources of information, I found that the different time signatures, have different qualities, but they are also affected by other factors such as the instruments, singing and how it is performed. During the meeting with the focus group, I also found that music and dance is personal and that feeling calm and secure with the music is important to be able to move freely to it. In the discussion I could see that there are a lot of ways that you can use different time signatures in jazz dance education. Some examples were to expand your musicality and musical knowledge, but also to highlight and use certain qualities in the different time signatures to develop your dynamic practice.
