Partnervåld utanför (cis)normerna och transpersoners särskilda utsatthet : En scoping review om transpersoners utsatthet för våld i parrelationer / Intimate partner violence outside of the (cis)norms and transgender specific vulnerabilitiesSvedman, Saga, Vega Larsson, Anita January 2022 (has links)
Purpose: The aim was to explore the current state of knowledge within scientific research regarding transgender people’s exposure to intimate partner violence. Moreover to study the structure of the violence, transgender specific vulnerabilities and access to support. Method:Through scoping review, thirteen scientific articles were included and analyzed through content analysis (manifest and latent). Results: Three main themes emerged with appurtenant sub-themes, (1) intimate partner violence in relation to trans identity; transspecific intimate partner violence, psychological intimate partner violence, (2) specific vulnerabilities in relation to intimate partner violence; societal norms, additional risk factors, (3) Support from society and personal network; formal support from society, informal support from personal network, normative roles for victims and perpetrators. Conclusion: Prevalence of intimate partner violence was extensive among transgender people, specific circumstances emerged related to the victims trans identity, which calls for transspecific support services and increased knowledge of the target group amongst professionals.

z & sHaydock, Shana B 01 January 2021 (has links) (PDF)
z & s charts the story of Sophreen and Zehra, ostensibly two girls in love, who experience transnational migration together. Through the lens of their relationship, I explore themes of embodiment, survival, complicity, cultural erasure, and the complexity of abuse and trauma for multiply marginalized people. I use poems and visual art to portray the colliding worlds of feminized people as they navigate madness, psychosis, disability, and illness in the frame of desire.

Unplayable Games: A Ludoarsonist's Manifesto on Trans Play and Possibility in Digital and Analog GamingBerge, PS 01 January 2024 (has links) (PDF)
This project is a scholarly manifesto on unplaying games by (both figuratively and literally) burning them. Building from the work of trans feminist game and media scholars and designers, this dissertation asks: how can we play in the unplayable, that we might live in the unlivable? To contend with these questions, this dissertation explores "ludoarsony"—the practice of un-playing games—as a critical design philosophy and theorical approach to play. It analyzes self-immolating and self-destructing games that burn away paper, plastic, characters, and stories and gray market games that have been ‘burned' with legal dubiousness in order to show how trans play can be found in ending the (game)world. This project builds its case for ludoarsaony across three case studies, each attending a different play practice. In the first chapter, it explores self-immolating games as examples of un-ending play. By playing with fire, we can become doombringers that (un)make worlds and games alike. In the second chapter, it contends with emulation as un-recognizing play that troubles computational ontologies. By emulating games, we can explore de/compilation of software and cultural systems. Finally, it demonstrates how un-balancing play—and flipping tables—upheaves unspoken exclusionary rhetoric and ludic traditions. Ultimately, this dissertation seeks to claim the "unplayable" as a space of trans imaginary—at once speculative and material—that emerges from the ashes of ruptured ludic and computational systems. It serves as an introductory investigation into the playful possibilities of what lies beyond the horizon of the so-called unplayable.

The Illusion of Consensus and Construction of Threat : A Critical Discourse Analysis of Nikki Haley's Language on Gender and Reproductive RightsEriksson, Lina January 2024 (has links)
This Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) examines Nikki Haley's language on gender and reproductive rights. By examining Haley's language through a CDA lens, the thesis illuminates the intersection of gender, power, and ideology in political communication. Utilizing CDA as both a method and theoretical framework, complemented by feminist theory, the thesis analyzes Haley's spoken language to reveal implicit meanings within her communication. The analysis centers on key aspects of her language use, including lexical choices, problematization, argumentation, and intensification, unveiling the underlying narratives and values that shape her stance on gender-related issues. The findings reveal that Haley uses the notion of protecting women and girls to portray abortion and trans rights. She advocates for consensus regarding abortion laws, but as an effort to advance her messaging. Haley views trans rights and gender advocacy as private concerns rather than social issues. By delving into the communicative intent behind Haley's discourse, the thesis contributes to a deeper understanding of political communication by female conservative politicians in the United States. Ultimately, this thesis enhances our comprehension of gender, politics, and power dynamics by revealing how Nikki Haley uses language to advance her political objectives.

Agendasättande, policy och policyskapare under misinformationens tid / Agenda setting, policy and policymakers during the time of misinformationSäfström, Loke January 2024 (has links)
This study shows that media and misinformation in media can have a direct impact on policymakers during the agenda setting stage of the policy process. Through a theoretical framework based on the network agenda setting model, discourse theory, WPR-approach and previous research regarding misinformation about transgender people, the case of two anti-trans legislation initiatives, one of which was an emergency measure, in North Dakota, USA, from 2023, are explored. Through qualitative, content analysis, WPR-analysis and discourse analysis, an examination of the impact of misinformation about transgender people on Fox News, from the 13th of december 2022 to the 23rd of january 2023, on policymakers in North Dakota is presented. The study found that there are considerable similarities between the discourse about transgender people on Fox News and the problem representation in the anti-trans legislation initiatives, in addition to substantial amounts of misinformation about transgender people on Fox News. These findings imply that policymakers can be affected by misinformation in news media, which in turn can affect democratic systems through the potential erosion of trust, political accountability and democratic rights.
