Dissipline as modus van morele vorming : 'n sistematies-teologiese ondersoek

Jack, Hendrik Cornelius 03 1900 (has links)
Thesis (D.Th.)--University of Stellenbosch, 2007. / ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This study intends to find a way through which South African churches, specifically the local congregation, can make a contribution to addressing the morality crisis in South African society. a) The local congregation has an indispensable role to play in moral formation, specifically in discipline as mode of moral formation. Through the use of practices such as worship, the sacraments, prayer and church discipline, the local congregation can make a great contribution to healthy morality. b) Beside the role of the local congregation in moral formation, the Holy Spirit also plays an enormous role in the process of moral formation. Through the Holy Spirit we are changed and renewed. We begin to live with character, which means, we begin to live out the good, right and the wise in any concrete situation. Thus we become moral people. The background of the moral crisis is sketched in chapter one of this study. An outline about the extent of the moral crisis is given. Various causes and manifestations of the moral crisis are discussed. The various responses of society to this moral crisis as well as the potential of the church to address these problems is discussed. In this chapter it is also shown that the church should be involved in moral formation, because the triune God is actively involved in the world and in societies. A detailed discussion of the 1998 work of Johannes Van der Ven, Formation of the Moral Self, is given in chapter two. Van der Ven is the theologian who presents one of the most detailed discussions of discipline as mode of moral formation. The methodology which he uses in his theories of moral formation, specifically discipline, could assist the church in South Africa to design her own framework and guidelines for enhancing discipline. Other modes, namely socialization, transmission, development, clarification, emotional formation and education for character, are also discussed in order to give a better understanding of his views on the theme of moral formation. In this chapter, the views of some South African behavioral scientists are discussed to indicate how they agree with key elements in Van der Ven’s understanding of moral formation and discipline. In chapter three the writer argues that Van der Ven’s theories of moral formation, especially discipline, are of great value to the church, especially the local congregation. Van der Ven’s insights on moral formation, specifically discipline, is shown in ecclesial and pneumatological frames. In this discussion it is emphasized that the local congregation and the Holy Spirit play an enormous role in moral formation, specifically in discipline. In the last chapter, concrete proposals are made about the roles of the local congregation and the Holy Spirit where discipline is concerned. This study strives to formulate frameworks and guidelines that will assist the church in her task to enhance the development of discipline, and to contribute to redemptive morality in South Africa.

: Ældre menneskers oplevelse af at have gennemført et otte-ugers interventions gå-tur projekt. / Walking as health promotion activity for elderly people. : The experience of elderly people who have completed an eight-week intervention walking project

Garver, Else January 2005 (has links)
The aim of this MPH thesis is to describe the experience of elderly people who have completed an eight-week intervention walking project. The insight and knowledge acquired in this study have been very useful with regard to the planning of walking for the elderly people who would not otherwise have ventured outside. A qualitative method has been used. The population consists of the eleven projectparticipants who completed the eight-week intervention period. The theme-based interviews have been transcribed in full and analyzed in accordance with a qualitative thematic analysis inspired by Giorgi’s guidelines and Husserl ́s philosophy. The project participants` comments demonstrate that walking as intervention gave them the experience of doing something, especially for their own wellbeing. Other important results were a sense of increasing mastery of their situation ,improved physical fitness, moreenergy, higher spirits a sense of fellowship, and some knowledge of the surroundings and nature. The project includes a new dimension: People who would not otherwise have ventured outside now do so because they get support either by walking alone and experiencing the "obligation" of walking or by walking with a companion. Offering walks to elderly people who would not otherwise have ventured outside seems to be a good decision in a public health care perspective because these elderly peoplepresumably live longer with a better health. /
ISBN 91-7997-087-7

Changing Identity Of Public Spaces: Guven Park In Ankara

Sarikulak, Selen 01 January 2013 (has links) (PDF)
Place identity changes and transforms in relation with changing social conditions and physical environment. Social conditions change the place identity by changing people&rsquo / s perceptions and experiences in the space, while, at the same time, they are affected by these perceptions and experiences. Thus, place identity is in a state of flux in time with individuals, objects and societies. This thesis aims to study the evolving identity of public spaces by focusing on the case of Ankara, specifically the example of G&uuml / ven Park which was developed as a part of the public space strategy of creating a modern, westernized and secular capital city of newly-founded Turkish Republic. Therefore, as far as Ankara is concerned, beside &lsquo / place identity&rsquo / , the notion of &lsquo / national identity&rsquo / becomes prominent. This research examines the changes in the identity of G&uuml / ven Park in relation to the shifts in the identity of Ankara, and the analyses on the public space are carried out regarding three criteria -form or physical setting, activities and meanings attached to the public space- in different time periods.

Wer sagen die Leute, wer ich bin? Eine qualitative Erhebung zur Gottesvorstellung bei Jugendlichen in Deutschland. Eine Studie aus der sicht empirischer Missionswissenschaft = Who do people say that I am? A qualitative research of the image of God among German youth. A study from the perspective of empirical Missiology

Faix, Tobias 30 June 2006 (has links)
Summary The intention of this research project is to evolve a concept for empirical missiology as a method of fundamental research and to apply it in practice. Through the usage of an intradisciplinary approach, access to missiology via the methodology of the social sciences is rendered possible. To establish a basis, an insight into social as well as missiological research will be given, and an inherent, empirical-theological praxis cycle will be developed. This praxis cycle is the methodology of this research paper. Concerning content, this research paper scrutinises the image of God held by juveniles from a missiological point of view. It considers the missionary receptiveness of juveniles in the context of cultural change in the postmodernist shift of paradigm. In how far are juvenile concepts of God marked by the correspondent social environment and does that have an impact on their everyday religious behaviour? Consequently not only the current state of research will be evaluated but, furthermore, the half-standardised qualitative interviews of 18 juveniles will be enclosed and their answers analysed on an empirical- missiological basis. Hence, this thesis has a twofold aim; one considers empirical-theological research as a way of evaluating concepts of God among juveniles with regard to their missionary receptiveness. The other implements the empirical-theological praxis cycle aiming to develop a type which enables further empirical-theological investigation in missilogy. / Missiology / D.Th.

Der empirisch-theologische Praxis-Zyklus als methodologischer Ansatz ANSATZ innerhalb der Missionwissenschaft(The Empirical-Theological Praxix Cycle as methodological starting point in Missiology).

Faix, Tobias 30 November 2003 (has links)
The intention of the empirical missiology is to systematically examine the reality of mission practice with the aid of empirical methods. To reach this aim the dissertation will attempt to combine empirical social science with missiology in a way that they positively complement one another throughout the whole process of research. This intradisciplinary procedure is new to missiology and therefore an important contribution to research. To form a basis, social as well as missiological research will be dealt with and von der Vens empirical theology examined. For the hermeneutic methodological realization of the empirical missiology an empirical-theological praxis cycle will be developed consisting of seven individual stages of research. The missiological reflection of each stage is the minor cycle. This procedure guarantees firstly a strictly methodical way of working and secondly missiological relevance that takes the context of praxis seriously and serves the mission. / Missiology / M. Th.
