Memoria para optar al título de Arquitecto / Atlas: máquinas de memoria para la exploración de subjetividades es un proyecto de investigación-creación que, desde el diseño, indaga en colecciones de documentos enmarcados en los contextos de la Historia Natural y en la cartografía. Su objetivo es, en primera instancia, diseñar máquinas que permitan indagar y visualizar la condición “aparática” e imaginaria en los atlas y con ello dar lugar a una reflexión crítica en torno a la noción de la subjetividad en la cultura visual contemporánea.

The population in Enköping is expected to increase, which means that more housing needs to be built. On behalf of S&E Johanssons fastigheter AB, floor plans for a possible apartment redevelopment in Villa Fannalund will be designed to meet parts of the current housing shortage. Today, Villa Fannalund is an office building and a redevelopment that must comply with the regulations set by Boverket (The Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning). In order to write this work/degree project, a literature review has been conducted where several examples of student reports regarding redevelopment have been analyzed. In addition, articles and reports relating to laws and regulations regarding redevelopment have also been processed in the literature review. To get a more detailed picture of Villa Fannalund, a case study was conducted through a study visit to the building itself and an interview with the property owner Sven Johansson. This paper presents two potential floor plans for Villa Fannalund's apartment project. These floor plan proposals are explained and then compared where the pros and cons of the two are evaluated. The two proposals cover 12 apartments each, where all apartments have a unique floor plan. The apartments in the proposals are of varying size, from one and a half room and kitchen to three rooms and kitchen with living areas ranging from 32m2 to 95m2. The work leads to the conclusion that Villa Fannalund shows great potential in becoming successfully redeveloped into an apartment building. During the work with this degree project, some challenges arose with the floor plans where, among other things, the common areas became far too large. There was also a problem with insufficient daylight in the common hall spaces.

Architecture is not like other artforms. All art, from cave paintings to modern dance, can be described as interpretations of human culture. Paint-ings and sculptures are attempts to freeze moments in time, and songs and poems are essentially a form of communication. Architecture, on the other hand, is the true physical manifestation of culture; it is the structure of our daily lives, the environment in which we live. In short: Architecture is the habitat of man. The Harmonic House is a small-scale collective villa based on human nature. I am investigating what living conditions can be if you design architecture from the psychological needs and wants of humans instead of strict functional needs of modern society. The project is based on a manifesto stating five points of good human living conditions. How would we live if we focused on inner development instead of economic prosperity?

My thesis explores an idea about a spatial transformation within a volume. This transformation occurs internally and externally with the introduction of light. The volumes become objects that can be studied, analyzed and transformed again. This constant transformation is guided by certain proportional relationships that are formed within the formal construction of the cubic volume. Sections and models are generated to study aspects of the cube that may realize an architecture of place. A villa is used in this mode of study as a basic unit of human habitation. The hierarchical relationships within the parts of the villa mirror that within the formal construction of the object and the interactions that are necessary between the parts. / Master of Architecture
