Evaluation of virtual servers for use incomputer science education : Utvardering av virtuella servrar f ör användning inom undervisning i datateknik

Jernlås, Johan January 2011 (has links)
Virtual servers are being increasingly utilized in higher education forclient computers, this thesis investigates if virtualization could also bebeneficial for servers. By providing three general models (the first beingthe current situation and the two latter leveraging virtualization) andevaluating each, a broad sense of the applicability, possibilities andremaining problems of introducing server virtualization is provided. For one specific course, TDDD27 - Advanced web programming, amore concrete analysis is done and specific recommendations are pro-vided.The conclusion is that there are still more work to be done, butboth of the proposed models are possible and suitable for some courses.Their introduction should have several positive effects, for instancefairer courses and more focus on the subject at hand.

Analýza hostování webových serverů / Analysis of web server hosting

Ilgner, Petr January 2017 (has links)
Master thesis deals with the problematics of webpages hosting in the Czech Republic. The goal of the thesis is to design a procedure and to implement an application for automated determination of whether a particular website is operated on a third party server or an own server of the organization or the individual. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part of the thesis lays a theoretical base concerning principals, protocols and services which are necessary for providing availability of the webpages with special attention to the specifics of the Czech internet environment. In the practical part there are several approaches to the analysis of the obtained data proposed. On that basis there is designed and in the form of the detection application implemented an algorithm which goal is to determine whether the submitted webpages are placed on a shared server and to collect the information about their hosting. In the last part of the thesis the application runs based on the created database of webservers organized by the categories of the webserver operators. In this analytic part the obtained output information about these webservers hosting are processed and presented together with the relevant context concerning the hosting of these webpages in the Czech Republic.

Brissman, Alexander, Brissman, Joachim January 2012 (has links)
This report covers an investigation of different load balancing algorithms in Linux Virtual Server. The investigation was done in a web cluster (with Apache as the software being used) consisting of three heterogeneous nodes, where the operating system was the detail that differentiated the nodes. The operating systems that were used in the investigation were Windows Server 2008 R2, CentOS 6.2 and FreeBSD 9.0. The factors examined were average response time at different load and how many connections the cluster could cope with, these factors were examined by measurements taken with the tool httperf. The investigation gives an answer to how a heterogeneous web clustersaverage response time and working capacity can be affected by the choice of load balancing algorithm. The result shows that the average response time stays low until a sudden rise occurs. Shortest Expected Delay and Weighted Least-Connection Scheduling could handle the largest number of connections.

Edholm, Sofia, Malm, Johanna January 2014 (has links)
Today’s information society brings big changes in how we gather information. During the last couple of years the amount of information we store has increased substantially. Techniques for gathering information develops fast, but the way we store information stays the same. This study looks in to cloud computing and if storing data in the cloud is a good alternative to local storage. The definition of cloud computing is vague, and this study attempts to give an account for what cloud computing is through theories and user definitions. Problems with the amount of increased data, and server techniques we use today are presented. The study confirms business advantages with storing data in the cloud and give clearance to that the cloud is working alternative to local storage.

Cenové modely a SLA pre zdieľané služby dátových centier / Price models and SLA for shared services of data centers

Štefek, Ivan January 2012 (has links)
Thesis Price models and SLA for shared services of data centers has as objective to establish best practice, so-called "best practices" of SLA and price models for data center services. Work is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical part. The theoretical section is wants to familiarize the reader with the basic concepts such as outsourcing, reasons and risks of use. I describe the base models for providing IT services as well as pricing models for services as described in the literature. I will focus on data centers and TIER standard categorization, too. The practical part is based on an analysis of information that I got from an interview with the experts working for the biggest data center companies in the Czech Republic. Based on this information, I tried to compile the best practices for creating pricing models for data center services that are actually used in practice. Specifically, the server housing, server hosting and virtual server services. Also, for these services create an SLA that can be used by some data center company in the Czech Republic.
