Wong Kar-wai is a premier avant-garde auteur of Hong Kong cinema. In the existing research, postmodernism is considered as a predominant approach to shed light on Wong’s aesthetics, poetics and politics. Being the iconoclastic ‘poet of time,’ Wong Kar-wai is extolled as a leading figure for his postmodernist style of visually unique and emotional resonant film works. Recurring motifs, such as alienation and rejection, time and memory, pursuit and loss, are regarded as representations of cultural and political anxieties of Hong Kong people in the context of 1980s and 1990s. Wong’s characteristic exoticism and cosmopolitism in his films also distinguishes him from other Chinese-language directors. However, when we expand the scope of the postmodern terrain, we find modernism and its attendant aesthetics are just as relevant and important as postmodernism to the understanding of Wong’s oeuvre. This thesis evokes a comparative perspective of modernism proposed by Eugene Lunn as an aesthetic approach, with an illustrative analysis by using David Bordwell’s and Kristin Thompson’s work on non-Hollywood cinema. This approach emphasizes four major directions of the social and cultural aspects influenced by modernism in art. Using this approach requires researchers to find cinematic representations of modernism in terms of aesthetic self-consciousness, juxtaposition of time, ambiguity and dehumanization within the film. This research takes Wong Kar-wai’sAshes of Time Redux (2008) as a case study to explore the alternative interpretations beyond postmodernism. The investigation of Wong’s uses of modernist approach involves the analysis of his experiments of conventional film techniques and strategic employment of the mise-en-scene, camera angles, lenses, lighting, and music, which constitute his pictorial world. My assertion is that Wong’s juxtaposition of time and space createsan elusive and ambiguous fictional world in response to his reflection on the dehumanization of an integral individual subject in the modernized world.

Den här rapporten beskriver det självständiga arbetet med att skapa en webbutik för en second hand butik där klädesplagg visas upp till försäljning. Projektets syfte är att författaren tillsammans med handledaren på den webbaserade tidskriften Illegal Ground ska utveckla en webbplats som lätt kan administreras från ett administratörsgränssnitt samt att vara lätt tillgängligt för kunden/besökaren. Den testas och ska vara lämplig utifrån webbriktlinjer.se. Det innebär att varje individ i samhället ska kunna delta på lika villkor, oavsett etnisk bakgrund eller funktionsnedsättning. Lagen som kom i maj 2018; GDPR ska efterlevas genom att ett pop-up fönster finns på startsidan och vid formulären för registrering av kund och administratör. Det ska bland annat finnas funktionalitet för att webbutikens varor lätt ska kunna bytas ut från klädesplagg till artiklar av annan art, samt applikationen ska kunna lagra information från de olika tabellerna. Det här för att administratören ska kunna plocka ut data vid senare tillfälle. En av sidorna ska vara på engelska, samt det ska finnas en länk till denna på varje webbsida. Webbutiken ska vara allmängiltig för konceptet second hand med de etiska aspekter det innbär och och applikationen ska bygga på responsiv webbdesign och först och främst fungera på mobila enheter, typ Iphone 6. Det är begreppet ”mobile first” som gäller. De tekniker och verktyg som används är HTML, HTML5, CSS, CSS3, media queries, JavaScript, PHP med databas i frågespråket SQL, Bootstrap, Adobe Photoshop CC 2017, Projektledning m fl. Kurslitteratur från samtliga kurser i Webbutvecklingsprogrammet för studier och fördjupning i problem som uppstår under utvecklingen av webbutiken. Här ingår inspelade föreläsningar och relevanta webbsidor på internet. Metoden är främst att via iterationer av prototyper föra utvecklingen av applikationen i rätt riktning. Det hela har resulterat i en webbapplikation enligt mobile first, som fungerar väl vad gäller att registrera konto samt att välja och beställa av det urval av klädesplagg som finns till försäljning. Webbutiken Second Hand Shop fungerar för både kund och administratör. I gränssnittet för administratör finns viktiga funktioner för att organisera ett företags register.

Destructive sampling of 20 trees of four tree species in a mixed New England conifer/hardwood stand shows that leaf area comprises 72, 77, and 78 percent of plant area as measured with digital hemispherical photography of the stand in (1) leaf-off, (2) leaf-out and pre-harvest, and (3) leaf-out and post-harvest conditions. Leaf area index values for the stand, estimated through destructive sampling, were 4.42, 5.98, and 5.08 respectively, documenting the progression of leaf growth through post-harvest. Terrestrial lidar scans (TLS) of the stand in (1) leaf-off and (2) leaf-out and pre-harvest conditions provided leaf area index values of 4.49 and 6.00 using the correction applied to observed plant area index, showing good agreement. The method relies on destructive sampling to relate the weight of foliage removed from sample trees to leaf area and fine twig area within the foliage as measured by a flatbed scanner. Two conifer species, eastern hemlock and white pine, and two deciduous species, red maple and red oak, in five diameter-size classes, were harvested from the 50 x 50-m stand in late summer. Leaf and twig areas of these trees provided species-specific allometric equations relating stem basal area to leaf and twig area, and a stand map provided species, counts and diameters of all trees in the plot. These data then allowed estimation of the leaf area of the stand as a whole for comparison with optical methods. The ratios of leaf to fine-branch area for each species vary, with values of 5.33, 25.38, 260.88 and 140.35 for eastern hemlock, white pine, red maple, and red oak respectively. This variance shows that woody-to-total area constants, which are used for calculating leaf area index from plant area index values determined by optical gap probability methods, will be quite dependent on stand composition and questions the common usage of literature constants for this purpose. This study shows how destructive sampling can lead to better estimation of forest leaf area index and wood area index from hemispherical photography and terrestrial lidar scanning, which has the potential to improve modeling of nutrient cycling and carbon balance in ecosystem models.

Internet är idag en av de största informationskällorna som används av en stor del av befolkningen. För att göra webbplatser tillgängliga för personer med funktionsnedsättningar är det viktigt att man som webbutvecklare är medveten om hur internet används av dessa grupper, vilka tekniska hjälpmedel de kan använda sig av och vilka problem som finns. En webbutvecklare som besitter dessa kunskaper kan anpassa design och kod som ökar tillgängligheten. I denna studie har vi genom en enkätundersökning tagit reda på hur Sveriges universitet och högskolor arbetar för att öka tillgängligheten på sin webbplats. Vi har också utfört en kodkontroll av förstasidan på alla lärosätens webbplatser för att se om koden uppfyller kraven på tillgänglighet. Resultatet på undersökningen är analyserat utifrån riktlinjerna inom WCAG 2.0 vilket ger en tydlig bild över hur de olika lärosätena har tillgänglighetsanpassat sina webbplatser. Genom undersökningen har vi funnit att de flesta universiteten och högskolorna arbetar för att öka tillgängligheten genom att jobba efter riktlinjer och rekommendationer, men det finns även brister som kan förbättras. / Today internet is one of the largest sources of information which is used by a large part of the population. In order to make websites accessible for people with disabilities it’s important that the web developers are aware how the internet is used, which technical tools they can use and the problem involved with the use of websites. If the web developer possesses these skills it gives the opportunity to customize the design and code that increases the accessibility. Through our survey, we examined how the Swedish universities are working to increase the accessibility on their websites. We have also performed a control of the code at the front page of each university’s website to see if the code meets the requirements for accessibility. The results of the study are analysed against the WCAG 2.0 guidelines which gives an idea of how accessibility guidelines is followed by the institutions. Through the study we have found out that most of the universities are working to increase the accessibility by working according to the guidelines and recommendations, but there are also weaknesses that can be improved.
