Hodnocení efektu cvičení jógových ásan na postavení pánve / The evaluation of the effect of yoga asanas on the position of the pelvisFlasarová, Klára January 2016 (has links)
Title of the master thesis: The evaluation of the effect of yoga asanas on the position of the pelvis Abstract in English language: The aim of this paper is to verify the influence of exercise-specific assemblies of yogic asanas on the position of the pelvis in the sagittal plane, as another parameter, we chose the change in extension of the spine in a plane sagittal. The two-month exercise program is compiled so that it can affect the length and tension of the major muscles, having an effect on the position of the pelvis and correct its excessive anteversion, or retroversion. The content of the exercise program is supported by the theoretical background from the fields of anatomy, kinesiology, biomechanics, and also from the field of yogic theory and practice. The exercise was conducted once a week in groups (90 minutes), under the guidance of a physiotherapist and on the form of autotherapy in an abbreviated version (about 16 minutes) six times a week. The exercise group comprised young people (n=12) aged 20-30 years without any known structural deformities axial body or a serious functional deficit of the locomotive body. The measurements have been carried out in the laboratory of biomechanics using 3D kinematic analysis system Qualisys. The results indicate that the exercise of yoga asanas has...

Previous issue date: 2011-11-10 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The aim of this research was to investigate the lifestyle constitutive elements of Yoga
practioners and students who live in brazilian capitals. Looking forward to explore if
there is some influence of this philosophy teachings in their daily lives and also
investigate how do they perceive their quality or life. The lifestyle concept adopted in
this research comes from the Enviromental Psychology, area of the Psychology that
studies the relation between people and fisical environment, natural or built (Bassani,
2004). It refers to the set of values, habits and actions on people daily lives. Yoga is
understood as a complex philosophical-religious system, that contain a set of belives
and values, whose purpose is to guide the practioners actitudes and behaviors.
Participants were four people, two of them, male and two, female, who live in Rio de
Janeiro, São Paulo e Aracaju. For data colection, it was used two instruments: (1) an
open questionnaire with six questions about their routine, values and the Yoga
teachings influence in their lives and (2) the Quality of Life Self-Evaluation Instrument
(Bassani, Corrêa e Eisenstadt, 2002) that allowed the participants to think and rate
ten different aspects of their lives acording to their satisfaction level. By analysing
both instruments data, we observed some habits and values shared by them, for
exemple, to practice Yoga and meditation daily and to worry about environment. It
was possible to identify four principal elements in the participans lifestyle
constitution: (1) self-care (practice of physical activity and a appropriate feed); (2)
respect on the relations (they value harmony and peace); (3) longing for personal
improvement (philosophy studies, self knoledge and practice of spirituality) and (4)
actions based on sustaintability (pro environment behavior). All of those elements are
related on Yoga s teachings. We observed that the practice and study of this
philosophy can influence the way of thinking, and as consequence, people values
and way of act, resulting in the built of healthable lifestyles and positive reflects on
their quality of life self evaluation / A presente pesquisa teve como objetivo investigar os elementos constitutivos do

Previous issue date: 2018-08-27 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / The proposal of this research is to understand the state of presence provoked by the practice of
Yoga, with the objective of developing this understanding by adopting a method that is based
on the phenomenological-existential thought proposed by the philosopher Martin Heidegger
(1889-1976). This piece of work originated from questions that emerged from the experience
of the researcher, who has been a Yoga practitioner and teacher for approximately ten years.
The main questions related to a possible phenomenological-existential reading of the
phenomenon of presence in Yoga, questions such as: Is it possible to speak of a state of
presence? Can anyone feel more present because of the practice of Yoga? What is the
importance of the body in this perception? Therefore, we sought to unveil the phenomenon of
presence in Yoga through the researcher's own experience as a practitioner and as a teacher.
The construction of this study was developed based on records of the practice, which were
transformed into personal reports and then used as a way of unveiling the phenomenon and
method of investigation. To transform the experiences lived in the classes into narratives for
the research, a class diary was produced. The diary consisted of 17 classes from which the
analysis of the possible meanings and the meaning of the experience for reflection on the
phenomenon of presence in yoga was carried out. The phenomenon was revealed as a
connection with bodily sensations, perception of one’s own thoughts and relationship with time,
which configured openness to oneself, to the world and to the meaning of life of Dasein, that,
from this experience of contact with itself, understands how it reacts to life. (Research Support

As questões principais
Qual é a importância do corpo nesta percepção?
(Apoio Capes)

Previous issue date: 2016-03-10 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / More than half the world's population currently live in big citties and they have to deal with some of their physical and social characteristics, They can be considered as stressor factors, hindering the well-being of its population. Yoga is considered in this context, often as a body practice, but in fact, it is a complex philosophy focused on self-knowledge and human development. This study was based on knowledge of Environmental Psychology and Yoga to understand the lifestyle in relation to beliefs and values of people living in big cities and who went to India to study any discipline related to Yoga. It is a qualitative research conducted through semi-structured interviews that began with the choice of a significant object, symbol of the personal experience in India. Two men and three women living in São Paulo aged between 32 and 54 years and were searching the knowledge source about this philosophy attended this research. It was possible to observe differences between participants regarding the impressions they had of India and its culture and also in impressions and affective bonds that each of them has in the urban environment. However, common elements were described by all participants, the development or strengthening of spirituality after the travel to India, the activation of biospheric values that promote pro-environmental behavior and the search for alternative spaces into the nature, out of the city. Yoga has proved to be a tool that allows its practitioners to experience and recognition of the unity of all things, promoting values geared to the common good and performing as a strategy for adaptation and transformation in the urban environment / O ambiente urbano abriga atualmente mais da metade da população mundial e, devido a algumas de suas características físicas e sociais, pode ser considerado causador de estresse, comprometendo o bem-estar de sua população.

Previous issue date: 2017-04-07 / Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq / The main objective of the masters thesis A Construção de si a partir do Ashtanga
Vinyasa Yoga is to discuss the idea of self care, first conceived in ancient Greece in the 5th
century B.C. as epiméleia heautoû, within Indian philosophical constructs, which had their
foundation built upon sacred texts that date from 1500 B.C, to the 4th Century A.D. This
theoretical crossing is used within this thesis to trace a parallel between the concept of self
care proposed by Michel Foucault and the hindu ascetic ethic. This ethos is only achieved
within a free body: free from passion, psychological disturbance, self-imposed physical
binds, and external factors that disturb perception.
The research within investigates which techniques and mechanisms were used by
Ashtanga Yoga Gurus, specifically, resulting in their being sought out by so many people,
from so many different places, sharing the cartesian paradigm of “body” and “self”, and
being brought together through this practice that allows one to establish another perception of
onself and one’s relation to one’s body.
The different stages that build up the comprehension of the main points of this theses
include field research with twelve current practitioners of yoga; reading and analysis of
ancient yoga texts; insertion of the previously mentioned research within the context of
ethical views expressed by contemporary authors such as Michel Foucault, Francisco Varela
and Edgar Morin; followed finally by iconographic analysis related to yoga’s genealogy,
involving transformations on a technical, symbolical and political level / O objetivo do trabalho de mestrado A construção de si a partir do Ashtanga Vinyasa
no nível técnico, simbólico e político

Bhakti Religion and Tantric Magic in Mughal India: Kacchvahas, Ramanandis, and Naths, circa 1500-1700Burchett, Patton January 2012 (has links)
This dissertation sheds new light on the nature and development of Hindu devotional religiosity (bhakti) by drawing attention to bhakti's understudied historical relationships with Tantra, Yoga, and Sufism. Specifically, this thesis explains the phenomenal rise of bhakti in early modern north India as a process of identity and community formation fundamentally connected to Sufi-inflected critiques of tantric and yogic religiosity. With the advent of the Mughal Empire in the sixteenth century, new alliances--most notably Akbar's with the Kacchvaha royal clan of Amer--led to the development of a joint Mughal-Rajput court culture and religio-political idiom in which Vaishnava bhakti institutional forms became key symbols of power and deportment, and thus bhakti communities became beneficiaries of extensive patronage. Through a study of the life and works of the important but little-known bhakti poet-saint Agradas, this thesis offers insight into how these bhakti communities competed for patronage and followers. If the rise of bhakti was inseparable from Mughal socio-political developments, it was also contingent upon the successful formation of a new bhakti identity. This thesis centers on the Ramanandi community at Galta, comparing them with the Nath yogis to show the development of this bhakti identity, one defined especially in opposition to the "other" of the tantric yogi and shakta. It also contributes a broad study of early modern bhakti poetry and hagiography demonstrating the rise of new, Sufi-inflected, exclusivist bhakti attitudes that stigmatized key aspects of tantric and yogic religiosity, and that therein prefigured orientalist-colonialist depictions of bhakti as "religion" and Tantra as "magic."

Previous issue date: 2013-12-03 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / This study aimed to understand the connection between yoga and psychotherapy. This work wants to comprehend the relationship between these two areas, there are few studies addressing this approach. It was organized in two stages: ( a) theoretical and empirical literature review and ( b ) qualitative research , resulting in analysis of great authors works of psychology, including , Jung (1996 ) and Lowen (1977 .) This methodology was chosen because the literature review opens the possibility of studying to understand what other authors present on the subject matter and explain theoretically the results of the analysis. Moreover, qualitative research enables understanding subjective and affective aspects of each participant. Participated in the survey, six therapists yoga practitioners. Questionnaires were open, trying to understand what they perceived approaches between these two areas. From the questionnaires, it was found that all participants believe that: yoga teachers would benefit greatly if they learned some techniques of psychotherapy to thus be more efficient in accommodating their students when they come in contact with some feeling in their yoga classes. All participants reported changes in their behavior after beginning to practice yoga, thus showing that this philosophy has helped them feel: more tolerant, less anxious, healthy and in balance. Through this study, it was realized that yoga techniques such as meditation, physical postures, breathing and some can be a tool used by psychotherapists. Suggest to discussions in forums about the study of professional associations on psychotherapeutic practice. Apoio CNPq
