This research aims to highlight how the ‘boy-crisis’ affects the identities and results of boys in Swedish schools. Therefore, reasons, consequences and possible solutions are investigated in this study. The ‘boy-crisis’, I argue, may be neutralized if the entire school system, with both teachers and principals, includes a gender perspective and take the value basis and the mission of gender equality into serious consideration. In order to counteract the existing culture of students not prone to study, schools should analyze and highlight and link social gender norms to school results. Schools should promote students’ differences and therefore contribute to students’ learning potential. Every student should feel equally worthy and be treated respectfully regardless of gender. However, the results of this study presents otherwise. In schools nowadays, boys seem to be the less successfully. Therefore this study is important.
