Gå upp och pröva dina vingar : En kvalitativ studie om kunskaper och förmågor förknippade med musik och flyg

Music and aviation are two areas that are perhaps not compared to each other very often. Personally, I've had a strong passion for aviation since childhood and later also for music. I've heard my family and others argue that pilots often have a musical talent and wondered if this could be true. This thesis is my first step into examining the relationship between aviation and music further. In the thesis I use grounded theory and epistomological concepts to conduct interviews with people who are knowledgeable in one or both of the subjects. The results indicate that similarities exist between the two subjects, especially in terms of practical-productive knowledge. This seems to indicate that experience in one subject could be transferred to the other. Further, the study illustrates which knowledge and what abilities are deemed relevant to have in the two subjects by the interviewees, whereupon pedagogical conclusions can be drawn from this.
