The effect of aromatherapy on brain waves / 芳香療法對腦波之影響

Yen,Hsieh-Chun, 謝雋彥 January 2019 (has links)
碩士 / 嘉南藥理大學 / 化粧品應用與管理系 / 107 / Because people often face many invisible pressures in daily life, which cause physical fatigue, headache, soreness and poor sleep quality, this study uses different essential oil formulas to measure brain wave changes and explore the types of essential oils by hand massage and sniffing. , concentration and time of use on brain wave index (pressure, relaxation, concentration, sleep quality, fatigue) and the difference in effect. The study found that the use of sniffing has a greater impact on brain waves. The use of 10% massage oil for 10 minutes is the best. The use of lavender essential oil reduces the stress index most, and the sweet orange achieves the best relaxation effect. Enhance the power of concentration, and add the bitter orange leaves to the improvement of sleep and fatigue index. ain waves

Explore the Aromatherapy Effect and Performance on a Stress-Sensitive Cognitive Task by Using Brain Wave / 以腦波探討香氛效應對壓力敏感認知任務表現之影響

HSIEH, CHEN, 謝震 January 2019 (has links)
博士 / 國立高雄師範大學 / 科學教育暨環境教育研究所 / 107 / The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of aromatherapy and performance on a stress-sensitive cognitive task by using questionnaires and brainwave analysis. The study emphasizes primarily on the lavender essential oil, by using the different concentration of its aroma to observe the participants' performances on attention span and anxiety level. Each participant comes with a varying degree of sensitivity to stress, which could further clarify the exact influence of aroma on human emotion recognition through larger samples. When it comes to the extraction of natural essential oils, the study adopts the vapor method to obtain the most fragrance and essential oil ingredients out of the plants. Then, it is combined with the synthetic carrier oils to produce aromatic essential oils of different concentration ratio. The study invited 100 volunteers of all walks of lives to participate in the experiment. They will be randomly blind tested to smell the different fragrances of concentrated essential oils. Afterward, they will fill in an anxiety scale to help distinguish the influence of one particular aroma on the participant's emotion recognition system. During the final process of the experiment, 30 participants are chosen to join the brainwave experiment. The results indicate that a higher concentration of essential oil can prompt the participants' attention, while a lower concentration of it can relax them. Regardless of the concentration of the lavender essential oil, it demonstrates better results to bring about attention and lower one's anxiety than the blank comparison group.

Evaluation of the Effect of Hot Spring Combined with Essential Oil Aromatherapy on Human Meridians / 溫泉結合精油芳療對於人體經絡之影響評估

WANG,CHIEN-HUA, 王阡驊 January 2019 (has links)
碩士 / 嘉南藥理大學 / 觀光事業管理系 / 107 / The health awareness of generations has risen, and the requirements for quality of life have gradually increased. The related markets such as medical beauty maintenance and health care have also become a trend. Negative ions are often used in various products because they have many beneficial effects on the human body, such as purifying the air, improving immunity, purifying blood, and activating cells. Chinese traditional medicine has applied the "good guidance" to become a good guide bio-energy detection system, which makes the diagnosis of Chinese medicine more scientific and integrated. Through the good guide bio-energy detection system, the bio-energy of the human body's good guide is measured by the skin resistance measurement method, which is used as the basis of the human body's function. In recent years, it has become a device for the study of traditional Chinese medicine and the use of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners on the trampoline. The research is to create a high-negative ion environment and match the essential oil and salt spring bath salt, so that the subject can breathe through the human body in a high-ion space, absorb the negative ions of hot spring oil and soak the salt bath salt on the body. Then adjust the twelve meridians. Then use the "Meridian Energy Detector" M.E.A.D to measure before and after soaking. The statistical results indicate that the effects of inhaling hot spring gold oil and soaking spring bath salt on the body further understand whether the twelve meridians fall within the normal range. At the same time, this study also obtained a corollary. When absorbing essential oils, the human body can balance the energy of each meridian in a way that the energy changes are more moderate. However, the aging time in the soaking spring bath is not significant.

Exploring the effect of aromatherapy on stress adjustment and healing of working women / 芳香氤氲百治百效? 探索芳香療法對職業婦女壓力調適與療癒效果之研究

Heuy-Jing Shu, 徐慧靜 January 2019 (has links)
碩士 / 中國文化大學 / 生活應用科學系碩士在職專班 / 107 / Abstract This study explored the therapeutic effect of aromatherapy on professional women’s stress regulation. This study adopted an experimental design and used aromatherapy interventions on the daily life of 30 full-time professional women with high stress perceptions. The experimental design involved using a Chinese 14-item Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) to measure the participants’ perceived stress score. Those who scored higher than 43 points were the main participants, who were asked to complete the scale again after receiving aromatherapy. Through organization of the questionnaire responses and pretest and posttest data, we analyzed, organized, and discussed the data to generate results and suggestions. The research instruments were Chinese 14-item PSS and World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF). Changes in perceived stress and quality of life (including comprehensive quality of life, comprehensive quality of health, physical health, psychological health, social relationships, and environment) before and after the aromatherapy intervention were compared. The statistical data were analyzed using a paired t test. The results revealed that (a) the pretest and posttest difference in terms of perceived stress score reached significance (t=10.91, p < .001) and (b) the pretest and posttest difference in terms of quality of life reached significance (t = −2.75, p < .010). The results suggested that aromatherapy helped alleviate perceived stress and improve quality of life. This study recommended that relevant governmental agencies provide forums related to aromatherapy to promote the methods helping professional women regulate their stress, thereby reducing social problems resulting from stress. Keywords: WHOQOL-BREF, aromatherapy, Chinese 14-item PSS, stress regulation

The professionalisation of aromatherapy: a case study of the professionalisation of complementary and alternative medicine in the Australian health care system

Sheen, Janelle Gwen Unknown Date (has links)
The aim of this study was to examine aromatherapy practice in relation to its claim of being or becoming a profession. This process of professionalisation is explored within the current context where the status of complementary and alternative medicines within the Australian health care system, like aromatherapy practice, is currently influenced by medical dominance and broader social and political scrutiny. This investigation of aromatherapy practice may provide a model for the general professionalisation, or development, of complementary and alternative medicine in Australian health care today. Critical theory was employed as the primary methodology of this study. As critical theory has no defined method for data collection, grounded theory data collection and analysis methods were used to obtain current and relevant data from two of the most prominent users of aromatherapy practice in health care, aromatherapists and nurses. The study found that while aromatherapy is often referred to as a profession, it fails to meet the criteria for being considered a profession in the ‘true’ sense. The data also revealed felt dissatisfactions experienced by aromatherapists’ to be due to the lack of recognition of the practice and a perceived double bind regarding the need to establish an appropriate knowledge base via scientific research and maintaining the ‘essence’ of aromatherapy practice. Considering the professionalisation process and the requirements of the system (health care and Government) a number of potential pathways for the development of aromatherapy practice were explored. The findings and discussion have relevance to other complementary and alternative modalities endeavouring to professionalise and or increase their status within the Australian health care system. In addition the study considers the related public felt dissatisfaction and revealed false consciousness relating to a broader social change and the integration of holistic and biomedical practices in health care.

Ju-Yin Chu, 朱如茵 January 2003 (has links)
碩士 / 國立陽明大學 / 臨床護理研究所 / 91 / Abstract The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of the aromatherapy in improving the depressed mood and heart rate variability(HRV) for the older residents in long-term care(LTC) institutions. The research design of experimental study was used with purposeful sampling from one LTC institution in Taipei. There was totally 64 residents in the study; 31of them in the experimental group, whereas the remain 33 were in the control group. Experimental group was aromatized with angustifolia lavender oil 5-6hours/ per day in the evening from 6pm to 12pm for 7days continuously. Friedman two-way analysis of variance by rank was used to test the differences among three time period for aromatherapy for residents which were before aromatherapy, after 1 day, and after 7 days on subjects’ depressed mood and HRV. The result revealed the depressed mood was greatly improved after receiving 7 days of the aromatherapy for residents in the experimental group. The depression score in the experimental group had decreased from 93.9(SD=17.7)to 75.4(SD=15.7)and the test result was statistically significant(x2=40.667, p<.001). When comparing the differences of intervening time period, the normalized low-frequency power and low/high frequency power ratio of HRV for residents in the experimental group had significant by decreased(x2=18.078, p<.001;x2=23.243, p<.001 respectively), whereas the normalized high-frequency power for them was statistically significant increased(x2=21.922, p<.001)from baseline to 1day and 7 days after the aromatherapy. According to the results of this study, the aromatherapy can significantly improve the depression mood and increase the activity of parasympathetic and decrease sympathetic activity. This study suggests the application of aromatherapy can not only improve psycho-social status of residents’ in long-term care institution but also prevent them from the deterioration of chronically diseases which was induced by the depressed mood and heart rate disorder. Therefore, the expenditure of the medical care cost can be saved, and the quality of life of residents’ can be improved by using aromatherapy in LTC institutions.

Aromatherapists' workplace situations and service adjustments in Taiwan / 台灣芳療師的職場情境與服務調適

Chia-Ming Lin, 林佳明 January 2014 (has links)
碩士 / 亞洲大學 / 休閒與遊憩管理學系 / 102 / In the aromatherapy industry in Taiwan, due to the confusing professional certification system and nationals’ misunderstanding of this profession, there have been some misconceptions and misapprehension about the social status and role of aromatherapists. As a result, it is common for aromatherapy business practitioners to encounter a lot of work pressure and profession-related frustrations. Thus, this study adopted the in-depth interview method, a qualitative research method, with 7 aromatherapists as the interviewees, to explore aromatherapists’ professional environment, service obstructions, achievements, and professional adjustments. This study found that in Taiwan the professional environment for aromatherapists is a working environment with a short history of industrial development, a vague professional system, a low professional status, and some cultural prejudices about this profession from the general public. Thus, in the process of the professional development of an aromatherapist, the most commonly encountered setbacks include: professional exhaustion, insufficient professionalism, sexual harassment, and job discrimination. Aromatherapists’ achievements can be summarized into 3 aspects, customers’ recognition and feedbacks, benefitting families and friends around, and personal improvements in body, mind, and soul. And in the face of frustration, the interviewees’ ways of adjustments can be summarized into 6 categories: physical and psychological relief, support from community, dependence on vision of the future, professional upgrade, value reconstruction and changing.

Asking why a certain product or service attracts customers to repeat purchase, the study aims to analyze customers’ basic information and repurchase reasons in order to clarify the connection between corporate image and customer trust. To help owners of aromatherapy beauty salons provide better service, this research examines relationship between corporate image, customer trust, service quality, price level and customer satisfaction. In accordance with the background and motivation of the research, this study sets up a few hypotheses and has the correlations between the hypotheses and four variables tested via a questionnaire: 1. to see if the corporate image of aromatherapy beauty salons has an impact on customer satisfaction; 2. to see if the service quality of aromatherapy beauty salons has an impact on customer satisfaction; 3. to see if the price level of aromatherapy beauty salons has an impact on customer satisfaction; 4. to see if the customer trust of aromatherapy beauty salons has an impact on customer satisfaction. The variables of the five aspects are analyzed based on the questionnaire results with a view to examining the perceptual differences in brand image, service quality, customer trust, customer satisfaction in different population sizes. Salient features are subject to follow-up Scheffé tests. For customer satisfaction, regression analysis is adopted. To avoid multicollinearity among independent variables, the Pearson's Correlation Coefficient and the Variance Inflation Factor (VIF) are used to ensure that the problem does not exist. The results of the regression analysis show that service quality and customer trust are the most important factors affecting customer satisfaction in aromatherapy beauty salons. More attention to these two aspects will considerably enhance customer satisfaction and lead to higher profit.
