Aromaterapia e yogaterapia no climatério: Os efeitos de aromaterapia e yogaterapia na qualidade de vida, nos níveis de stress e na intensidade e frequência de fogacho em mulheres na fase do climatério / Aromatherapy and yogatherapy in climacterium: the effects of aromatherapy and yogatherapy on quality of life, stress levels and intensity and frequence of hot flashes in climacteric womenLyra, Cassandra Santantonio de 06 December 2013 (has links)
Hot flashes are the symptom with highest incidence. Aromatherapy and yogatherapy can offer efficient treatments for climacteric symptoms, specially hot flashes, because their therapeutic mechanisms are similar to the physiological mechanism of hot flashes. MAIN OBJECTIVE: To analyze the psychological and physiological clinical outcomes of olfactory aromatherapy and breathing exercises of yogatherapy, associated or individually, on the quality of life, subjective stress levels and intensity and frequency of hot flashes in women in the climacteric period. METHODS: 85 women in the climacteric period were evaluated, 64 of these subjects participated in Phase 1 (assessment) and 34 participated in Phase 2 (treatment) . Data collection was performed at CEPE-USP. The study consists of a doubleblind, pragmatic clinical trial with restricted randomization, controlled by control and placebo groups. The intervention was based on the psychoneuroendocrineimmunological model. Treatments were performed with inhalation of an aromatherapeutic synergy developed for the study with or without yogatherapy breathing exercises for 12 weeks, twice per week in one hour sessions. The study was approved by the ethics comitte Comite de Etica em Pesquisa da Escola de Educacao Fisica e Esporte da Universidade de Sao Paulo and was registered in clinicaltrials.gov. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: The results showed statistically significant improvement in symptoms of menopause for the three intervention groups. There was significant decrease in symptom of hot flashes, as well as complaints of hot flashes and this symptom was eliminated in five subjects. The intensity and frequency of hot flashes decreased in all intervention groups and remained constant in the control group. Aromatherapy was more effective than yogatherapy to decrease the symptoms of hot flashes, when these treatments were applied separately. The combination of the two therapies proved beneficial, increasing the effectiveness and enhancing the improvement of the symptom of hot flashes. The overall effects of the treatments varied intensely for other climacteric symptoms. The improvement of vasomotor symptoms of menopause (hot flashes and night sweats), was accompanied by a significant improvement in stress levels, quality of sleep and quality of life in all intervention groups. This research also permitted secondary discussions about climacterium and the therapies, permiting their understanding through the psychoneuroendocrineimmunological model. CONCLUSION: This study served as a general outline of climacteric symptoms, aromatherapy and yogatherapy through the psychoneuroendocrineimmunological model. The results cannot be generalized to the population because of the small sample size. However, the most promissing results can be indicated and this research can be the starting point for further studies, assisting in the preparation of clear research questions and suitable research methods to study them

The Effect of Aromatherapy on Swallowing Functions in Aged Rats-A Preliminary Study / 芳香療法對健康老化吞嚥能力的影響-老鼠的初步研究KAO, JUI-CHU, 高瑞筑 January 2017 (has links)
碩士 / 國立臺北護理健康大學 / 語言治療與聽力研究所 / 105 / This study aims to examine the effects of aromatherapy on prebyphagia among aged rats as preliminary research subjects. All rats (N= 4) were male, 18 months old, and of Wistar species. The experimental group (n= 3) received aromatherapy for twice a day and an hour each time over 20 days. The rats received intramuscular Electromyography (EMG) and their food intake, water consumption and body weight were measured daily. Their brain stems were placed under histological analysis. The aromatherapy has used a mixture of four types of essential oils that is vaporised via an essential oil electronic diffuser. The result showed that the experimental group has a total number of c-fos in the nucleus of solitary tract (NTS), especially in the rostral part, greater than the control group. The intramuscular EMG reveals that, compared to pre-intervention, the experimental group post intervention demonstrated significantly larger maximum amplitude, average amplitude, and duration of maximum continuous contraction; the difference between pre- and post-intervention for average frequency of signaling was not significant. The control group reveals a different pattern whereby contraction was shorter post-intervention and all the other measures did not present significant differences. Food intake and body weight of the experimental group reduced while water intake did not change consistently and physical activity did not change significantly. Evidently, aromatherapy has an effect on the presbyphagia. However, the small sample size in this study warrants further investigation involving larger sample size.

In a Teacher’s health promoting Health Promoting School – A study of the aromatherapy’s effect on the Heart rate variability of special educat teacher in junior high school / 健康促進學校之教師健康促進-芳香療法對國中特殊教育教師心率變異影響之研究Lu Hsien-Ping, 呂賢萍 January 2015 (has links)
碩士 / 經國管理暨健康學院 / 健康產業管理研究所 / 103 / Health Promoting School is an educational policy which has been actively set into action recently in Taiwan. Every junior high school and every elementary school are doing their utmost to develop school health promoting to promote both body and mind of teachers and students.
The goal of our Health Promoting School mostly focuses on the health promoting of students, like eyesight care, oral cavity sanitation, the effectiveness of health, smoking prevention, betel nut prevention, sexual education (including AIDS prevention) and others such as the right ways to take the medicine. As to the concern of teachers' health is seldom mentioned.
Students' efficient learning at school is not just their own learning attitude, ways of learning, and learning interests, but connects more to teachers' teaching accomplishment, teaching proficiency, and teaching enthusiasm. Actually, teachers' body and mind are more concerned with the efficiency of teaching, and special education teachers are the ones who have the most workload. Except for teaching special education students to adjust to their lives and to cultivate their ability to take care of themselves, teachers also need to teach them practical ability in language and math so that these students can possess the ability to live individually. However, students don't cooperate to teachers all the time and don't improve well. This low-achievement work not only decreases special education teachers' enthusiasm at work but also influences their body and mind.
Among many documents, the way for most special education teachers to relieve pressure is to seek support from colleagues and administrative units, vent their feelings, adjust themselves to a new situation, build personal confidence, create a pleasant working environment, communicate with people actively, grasp the crux of a problem, fulfill lifelong learning and promote the related psychology and solutions of self-learning nature ability.
This study tries to use aromatherapy to discuss the effectiveness on special education teachers after they smell the essential oil.The experimental subjects are 33 special education teachers in Banqiao District, New Taipei City. The essential oil was not used on the first week. Before the experiment and class (about 8 am) and after class (about 4 pm) every physiological index-NASA-TLX, blood pressure, Heart Rate (HR) Heart Rate Variability index (HRV), Low Frequency Power (ln LF), High Frequency Power (ln HF), Normalized-n LF, Ratio of Low Frequency to High Frequency (LF/HF). The second week was during the class, the experimental subjects smell the essential oil of rose, lavender, and bergamot blending flavor four to five times, and then measure the physiological index and Heart Rate Variability index.
The result of the study shows that smelling the essential oil inside the necklace bottle eight to ten times after five workdays, the teachers' NASA-TLX, systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, Heart Rate,ln LF,ln LF%, and ln LF/ln HF all evidently decreased, and ln HF are evidently increased.
To sum up the experimental results above, the study found that smelling the essential oil of rose, lavender, and bergamot blending flavor inside the necklace bottle is beneficial to release mental stress and relax body and mind.

The Integration techniques of aromatherapy massage and low frequency electrotherapy by using innovative multi-area conductive gloves - relief back stress for example / 應用導電手套於芳療按摩與低頻電療創新整合新技法之研究-以背部舒壓之評估為例Lan-Hsiu Li, 李秀蘭 January 2016 (has links)
碩士 / 樹德科技大學 / 應用設計研究所 / 104 / The purpose of this study is to design an innovative multi-area conductive gloves which can integrate aromatherapy and electrotherapy in a course of treatment, and to improve the back stress relief in a rapid, convenient and laborsaving way.
The participants in this study were 24 females : 8 in electrotherapy group (A) , 8 in aromatherapy group (B) , and the last 8 in conductive gloves group (C). These three groups were treated each therapy in thirty minutes once a week in three weeks. The multi-area conductive gloves have separate different conductive regions (use thumb to conduct the electricity by pressing to excite the Fengchi acupoint and Tianliao acupoint by pressing in the first region and use the inframarginal part of the palm in the glove to conduct the electricity by stroking to excite the Tianzhong acupoint in the second region, and use the back of the index finger and the middle finger in the glove to conduct electricity by fist-pushing to excite the Gaomang acupoint) to fuse the electrotherapy and aromatherapy faultless in the same course of treatment.
The group C’s effect is the best by analyzing the before and the after in the course of treatment with the scale measuring by soreness and destressing. The group C’s average value of the theory of good conductors in the whole course of treatment by Tianzhong acupoint (small intestines) and Gaomang acupoint (bladder) is the best, but the Fengchi acupoint (gall bladder) is the worst. The main reason should be reviewed why is leading to the excitation of the parasympathetic nerves under the situation of rest and quiet in a long term. The second reason caused the decrease of good conductors is that there is chignon in the hind neck where the Fengchi acupoint, the gall bladder is. The gloves of group C’s electric current is obstructed by the chignon and the part of back should be designed some other techniques, so the group C is the worst in this part. The answer why group B not be blocked is that power by the force of finger, and the action of touching and pressing in massage can excite the secretion of hormone to decrease the pressure, clear up the fear and relieve the pain. The group A is easier to let the electric current pass through because of the electric conduction paste. There are four questions analyzed by Likert item: the best effect by Gaomang acupoint, leisure with body and mind, and whole degree of satisfaction is in the group C.
Thus it can be improved that multi-area conductive gloves is a rapid, exact, convenient and laborsaving way to raise the effect with relieving the back, degree of satisfaction and the level of health care. It also be worth to do further research by using the technique.
