Lacan is an influential figure of 20th Century thought. Being a psychoanalyst, a linguist and at the same time a philosopher, in his theory he combines all three of these disciplines. Even in his later works, he tried to combine his theory with mathematical formalization. His theory influenced three important political thinkers: Laclau, &amp / #381 / i&amp / #382 / ek and Badiou. The purpose of this dissertation is mainly to examine Lacan&rsquo / s thought and its impasses which could be found especially in the political applications of his theory. First I start with a critical reading of Lacan&rsquo / s own works. I try to figure out the idealizations, presuppositions and blind spots hidden in his work. I develop my critical reading by focusing on the works of Laclau, &amp / #381 / i&amp / #382 / ek and Badiou. The main argument of this dissertation is, such a critical reading of these philosophers will lead us to a general questioning of Lacan&rsquo / s theory and the legitimacy of its applications. Lacan&rsquo / s use of the impossibility as a founding principle and his passion for formalization cause several idealizations, like the idealization of the neutrality of the signifier, the idealization of the non-represented and so on. These problems are extended and transformed into other ones in his disciples&rsquo / works. For Laclau, the problem is transformed into a purely content-free understanding of elements of democracy which ends up with paradoxical results. For &amp / #381 / i&amp / #382 / ek and Badiou, because of their insistence on a political theory based on the impossible real, their subversive theories end up with a theory which take the form of messianic discourses. What I propose is a reconsideration of the role of the theory on the understanding of human reality: in principle every theory excludes some portions of the richness of human life-world, therefore every theory must have a retrospective and critical stance against its own founding principles. This cannot be done by formalized theories which keep the formal structure of itself untouchable.

&amp / #945 / -Hydroxy phosphonates are versatile building blocks for the synthesis of many biologically active compounds that display antiviral, antibacterial, anticancer, pesticide activities beside their enzyme inhibitory activities such as they are the inhibitors of rennin or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) protease and polymerase. Benzaldehyde lyase is able to catalyze not only C-C bond formation reactions but also C-C bond breaking reactions with high enantioselectivity that brings about the development of new synthetic methodologies for the synthesis of hydroxy ketones which are the key intermediates in the synthesis of many biologically active compounds due to the versatility of stereogenic center for developing structural diversity. There are several synthetic methodologies for the synthesis of hydroxy phoshonates however, in this work we have achieved the synthesis of hydroxy phoshonates through C-C bond forming reactions catalyzed by Benzaldehyde lyase that offers the use of green methodologies. Moreover, we have achieved the synthesis of hydroxy ketones which are versatile building blocks in the synthesis of many biologically active compounds via the immobilization of BAL enzyme on superparamagnetic solid support with high yield and high enantioselectivity.

The work presented in the thesis was carried with the aim to understand how Widerborst (Wdb) regulate planar cell polarity in Drosophila wing. In search of proteins interacting with Wdb I carried a Yeast Two Hybrid screen and identified a protein, bitesize, with tandem C2 domains in its C terminus interacting with Wdb. Wdb also interacts with btsz genetically and removal of one copy each of Wdb and btsz enhances the truncated hair phenotype observed in Wdb EMS mutants and btsz P element insertion mutants. There are at least three predicted isoforms of bitesize and loss of the btsz-II isoform is lethal. Clonal analysis of a btsz mutant, btszJ5-2, which removes the btsz II isoform resulted in truncated wing hair outgrowth. On the other hand over expression of a myc-btsz-II construct resulted in hair duplication phenotype. However, over expression of the GFP-CT is sufficient to give wing hair duplication phenotype and this hair duplication phenotype is stronger than that caused by myc-btsz-II over expression. The Myc tagged btsz-II protein shows apical localization. Though most of the protein is confined to cytoplasm, btsz-II also marks the plasma membrane. The GFP-CT construct marks the plasma membrane strongly and is enriched in the apical region. The over expression of CT domain is sufficient to give hair duplication phenotype and the strong difference observed in the localization pattern of full length btsz-II protein and GFP-CT together suggest that regulation of membrane localization of btsz through its CT region is important to regulate hair morphogenesis. As the loss of function (truncated wing hair) and gain of function (hair duplication) both affect the process of hair morphogenesis, it can be said that btsz is a positive regulator of hair morphogenesis. Since no defect in cortical polarization of Fmi was observed in cells lacking btsz-II, btsz is required for establishment of cortical domains. However with the present study it remains unknown how exactly the C2 domains might regulate hair morphogenesis and whether Wdb targets btsz for dephophorylation to PP2A catalytic subunit.

Der Anteil an SiSiC-Bauteilen in Industriebrennern hat ständig zugenommen. Durch den Einsatz von keramischen Strahlheizrohren ist es möglich, Thermoprozesse oberhalb 1150 °C durchzuführen. Ein Risiko für den Einsatz ölbeheizter Strahlheizrohre ergibt sich aus der unzuverlässigen Qualität der Heizöle in einigen potentiellen Einsatzländern. In dieser Arbeit wurde die korrosive Einwirkung von Verunreinigungen in Heizölen auf Brennerbauteile aus SiSiC systematisch untersucht. Dabei wurde für Natrium, Kalium und Eisen das korrosive Potential gegenüber SiSiC festgestellt. Von Interesse war dabei der Korrosionsmechanismus, welcher zur Zerstörung der Siliziumdioxid-Schicht führt. In dieser Arbeit wurde die Korrosion des SiSiC-Materials hinsichtlich der Temperaturabhängigkeit und der Abhängigkeit von der Konzentration der Metalle im Heizöl untersucht. Anhand der Ergebnisse ist es möglich, für SiSiC-Keramik eine Lebensdauerabschätzung vorzunehmen.

Das Verlangen nach neuen Materialien mit Eigenschaften, die noch vor zwanzig Jahren für die Wissenschaft und Industrie unerreichbar waren, hat neue Perspektiven für die technische Keramik eröffnet. Auf Grund niedriger Aufheizraten und hohem Beschädigungsrisiko der Probe, ist das Entbindern das schwierigste und vor allem ein sehr teueres Verfahren. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit wird eine mathematische Beschreibung des Entbinderungs-Prozesses geliefert und verschiedene Bindersysteme auf die Möglichkeit ihres Einsatzes bei MW-unterstütztem Entbindern von Keramiken untersucht. Um die rechnerischen Aussagen zu überprüfen, wurde eine Reihe von Versuchen in der auf dem thermogravimetrischen Prinzip basierenden Anlage zum Entbindern von Keramik durchgeführt. Aus den Versuchsergebnissen wurden Schlussfolgerungen gezogen und mit theoretischen Aussagen verglichen.

The main aim of this study is to investigate the tools of the women&amp / #8217 / s activism which are used in transforming the gender equality agenda in Turkey in terms of legislative reform. To illustrate and study of the tools of women&amp / #8217 / s activism descriptively, a case study on the women&amp / #8217 / s activism for legislative reform in Turkey is conducted. The findings of the research verified the research thesis that women&amp / #8217 / s activism that occurred after 1980s and institutionalized during 1990s was incredibly influential in transforming the Turkey&amp / #8217 / s political agenda. The inner organization manner of women&amp / #8217 / s movement, its use of the media, lobbying activities such as finding allies in the commission and parliament, engagement with international women&amp / #8217 / s rights mechanisms, conducting effective communication through list-serve, arranging street demonstrations and actions can be enumerated as important tools.
