Kolitsch, Sebastian 24 July 2009 (has links) (PDF)

Jahrhunderts

Menzel, Steffen 24 July 2009 (has links) (PDF)

Systematic Selection and Application of Backfill in Underground Mines

Masniyom, Manoon 27 July 2009 (has links) (PDF)
The use of backfill in underground mining is increasing due to need for systematic backfilling of mine openings and workings to avoid surface damage, increase safety and contribution to sustainable mining. This study is to investigate backfill materials and new methods suited for systematic selection and application of backfill in underground mines. Laboratory tests were carried out on physical, chemical and mechanical properties of different backfill materials and mixtures thereof. Special attention was paid to materials generated as by-products and other cheaply available materials e.g. fly ash and FGD-gypsum from power plants, natural and synthetic anhydrite. The different material mixtures investigated can be used as a technically and economically viable backfill for underground mines. In summary, the systematic selection of backfill materials from by-products, mine waste and tailings from the mineral processing of mining industry and other industries were suited as a backfill material for test field in China coal fires and recommended for underground potash mines in Thailand.

Simon, Wolfgang 03 August 2009 (has links) (PDF)

Social Stratification And Consumption Profiles Of Ankara: A Case Study In Ankara Residential Areas

Akpinar, Figen 01 January 2005 (has links) (PDF)
SOCIAL STRATIFICATION AND CONSUMPTION PROFILES OF ANKARA: A CASE STUDY IN ANKARA RESIDENTIAL AREAS This dissertation attempts to develop a social stratification model considering its spatial dimension for the households in the city of Ankara. The spatiality of social class has rarely been in the agenda of scholars and has not been explored empirically. For this reason, the study aims to test the hypothesis that social segregation in Turkish cities is empirically measurable and manifests itself in the common patterns of behaviours and similar conditioning of existence in the urban space. The focus of attention of the thesis is based on the relationship between the material inequalities of different social strata within its territorial context. If a class becomes a social reality, this must be shown in the formation of common patterns of behaviour and attitude, and manifests itself in urban space. In short the scope of the study is a twofold: Thesis questions are: (1) how and upon what basis social groups and strata can be located in the economic and socio-cultural structure of the society. This part of the study deals with the objective &amp / #8216 / &amp / #8217 / set&amp / #8217 / &amp / #8217 / of criteria / thesis question (2) whether the same coherency can be coincided in the space. This part deals with the analysis of the spatial dimension of social &amp / #8216 / &amp / #8217 / class&amp / #8217 / &amp / #8217 / which means segregation. Thesis findings provide sufficient evidence that the differences stemmed from the material possessions and consumption patterns of the urban households cannot be understood by employing the conventional instruments as such rural/urban, traditional/modern as the division of axes. New conceptualisation urgently is needed and consumption studies offer prospective and highly potential issue.

Woman&amp / #8217 / s Labor And Poverty: The Case Of Eskisehir Province In Turkey

Gunes, Fatime 01 April 2006 (has links) (PDF)
This study examines critically how women in poverty use their labor in the production and reproduction processes against poverty and the effects of these processes on women becoming poor referring to women&amp / #8217 / s knowledge. The material foundation of women&amp / #8217 / s poverty is conceptualized as a two-way devaluation of women&amp / #8217 / s labor used in social reproduction. Patriarchal, cultural and ideological structures and relationships are studied as other determinants of women&amp / #8217 / s poverty. In this framework, women&amp / #8217 / s poverty studied based on a field research conducted on 120 women in EskiSehir province, consisting of regular and irregular workers, housewives, married and single mothers. Household is the basic unit of analysis of women&amp / #8217 / s poverty. The scope that women&amp / #8217 / s poverty experiences are questioned are the following: women&amp / #8217 / s labor in production process, women&amp / #8217 / s domestic labor, women participating in social life, violence against women, their perception of poverty and their place in power relations.

Potential For Popular Dissemination: An Analysis Of The &amp / #8216 / ideal Home&amp / #8217 / Discourse In The Weekly Yedigun Magazine

Usalp, Melike 01 April 2006 (has links) (PDF)
POTENTIAL FOR POPULAR DISSEMINATION: AN ANALYSIS OF THE &amp / #8216 / IDEAL HOME&amp / #8217 / DISCOURSE IN THE WEEKLY YEDiG&Uuml / N MAGAZINE TUNCER, Melike Usalp M.Arch. in Architecture, Department of Architecture Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Cengizkan April 2006, 179 pages The social transformations beginning by the end of the nineteenth century and the political and economic changes of the Early Republican Era (1923-1938) and the Transition Era (1938-1950) had important effects on Turkish architecture. The effects of the &amp / #8216 / new&amp / #8217 / and &amp / #8216 / ideal&amp / #8217 / life accelerated by the establishment of the new democratic nation state brought rapid changes and transformations to all aspects of life including housing. This study deals with the housing discourse in Yedig&uuml / n magazine which was published weekly during the single party era of the Republic. It was published weekly from 1933 to 1950 and was followed by a wide portion of the society, as an important popular magazine of the era. Its effort to present articles, pictures and news on housing and decoration for 17 years, with only short interruptions, makes it necessary to investigate these popular architectural products. In this study, it is claimed that the visual and the written material of Yedig&uuml / n magazine, related to house, is part of the theme of what is called &amp / #8216 / ideal home&amp / #8217 / . The investigation and analysis of the &amp / #8216 / ideal home&amp / #8217 / 2 discourse in Yedig&uuml / n magazine as a whole is useful in improving one&amp / #8217 / s understanding of the modernization practices of the newly established Republic of Turkey. Two methods are used in order to understand the visual and written materials in the magazine: the first one is the Visual Analysis Method described in the book &amp / #8216 / Reading Images: The Grammar of Visual Analysis&amp / #8217 / by Gunther Kress and Theo van Leuween. The aim by using this method is to decipher the relationship of the representative medium with the reader, treat the material as a whole. The second method is the analysis of the whole material in the context in relation with the architectural, political, social and economical events of the period, to investigate the construction processes of the discourse. Therefore, this study aims at understanding the action-reaction potential of the tools of the &amp / #8216 / ideal home&amp / #8217 / discourse of the Yedig&uuml / n magazine, by deciphering the visual and written material. Some results of the thesis show us that / both Arkitekt and Yedig&uuml / n magazines follow the agenda of the foreign publications in a similar way / the foundation for a sort of &amp / #8216 / collective union&amp / #8217 / namely &amp / #8216 / housing cooperatives&amp / #8217 / was set, by keeping individual home acquisition constantly on the agenda / problems of the new and modern life were tried to be addressed by Yedig&uuml / n as well as in the current architectural publications / these home presentations may be judged as &amp / #8216 / a catalogue of idealized ideas&amp / #8217 / or &amp / #8216 / two dimensional advice manual&amp / #8217 / , for early Republican Era home icons.

Klavírní školy současnosti a jejich využití v praxi na ZUŠ / Piano Methods of the Present Day and Their Using in the Practice at Music Schools

Kroupová, Veronika January 2016 (has links)
Bc. Veronika Landkammerová Résumé The thesis Contemporary piano methods and their usage in practice at Elementary schools of art deals with the most common and also the most suitable piano methods used in the Czech Republic. It's based on new trends at the turn of the 19th and 20th century, whose one of the pioneers was Ludwig Deppe. The issue is making music ideas and the need of using the weight of our arm while playing. It condemns the old methodology and gives examples. In the first part of the thesis there is described the evolution of piano - a musical instrument and the evolution of piano methods. These are interdependent of course. There was a quest to form a method only for piano which we can understand only if we know the historical changes. Since, in view of the fact that piano is a relatively young instrument we can't be surprised that its methodology of teaching is still a hot issue. The other parts are devoted to particular piano methods which are commonly used at Elementary school of art including examples of methodically obsolete methods. Unfortunately these are still very often used by many teachers. It's necessary to remind again that the pieces itself are not reprehensible but it's the method. On the other hand the thesis presents methods which are more or less suitable for teaching. It...

Widerborst Interacts With Bitesize To Regulate Wing Hair Morphogenesis

Joglekar, Chandrashekhar 11 July 2005 (has links)
The work presented in the thesis was carried with the aim to understand how Widerborst (Wdb) regulate planar cell polarity in Drosophila wing. In search of proteins interacting with Wdb I carried a Yeast Two Hybrid screen and identified a protein, bitesize, with tandem C2 domains in its C terminus interacting with Wdb. Wdb also interacts with btsz genetically and removal of one copy each of Wdb and btsz enhances the truncated hair phenotype observed in Wdb EMS mutants and btsz P element insertion mutants. There are at least three predicted isoforms of bitesize and loss of the btsz-II isoform is lethal. Clonal analysis of a btsz mutant, btszJ5-2, which removes the btsz II isoform resulted in truncated wing hair outgrowth. On the other hand over expression of a myc-btsz-II construct resulted in hair duplication phenotype. However, over expression of the GFP-CT is sufficient to give wing hair duplication phenotype and this hair duplication phenotype is stronger than that caused by myc-btsz-II over expression. The Myc tagged btsz-II protein shows apical localization. Though most of the protein is confined to cytoplasm, btsz-II also marks the plasma membrane. The GFP-CT construct marks the plasma membrane strongly and is enriched in the apical region. The over expression of CT domain is sufficient to give hair duplication phenotype and the strong difference observed in the localization pattern of full length btsz-II protein and GFP-CT together suggest that regulation of membrane localization of btsz through its CT region is important to regulate hair morphogenesis. As the loss of function (truncated wing hair) and gain of function (hair duplication) both affect the process of hair morphogenesis, it can be said that btsz is a positive regulator of hair morphogenesis. Since no defect in cortical polarization of Fmi was observed in cells lacking btsz-II, btsz is required for establishment of cortical domains. However with the present study it remains unknown how exactly the C2 domains might regulate hair morphogenesis and whether Wdb targets btsz for dephophorylation to PP2A catalytic subunit.
