Neįgalių asmenų integracija Vilniaus miesto darbo rinkoje / The disabled people integration in labour market of VilniusMatuizaitė, Edita 22 July 2014 (has links)
Previously, people with disabilities in society lived in closed institutions for social life outside. After restoration of independence took place in a number of significant changes. From compassion disabled transition to practical social integration. Throughout Lithuania in favor of persons with disabilities is valid legislation, and employers to employ people with disabilities. However, people with disabilities, a new low motivation to work for a problem that so far has not been considered and is certainly relevant.
Ihe Master work theoretically analyzes the concept of the integration of people with disabilities and this people an overview of labor market legislation. The survey, which provides people with disabilities to work in low motivation and reasons, analyzed employers' attitudes to disabled worker in Vilnius.
The research hypothesis, that the people with disabilities integration into the labor market in Vilnius limited by the disabled lack of motivation to work, proved in part. Most of the employers says, that people with disabilities lack the motivation to work, skills and competencies that are afraid of being rejected and unappreciated. However, it turned out that many people with disabilities are already trying to work and realize their professional life, their work is important. Integration into the labor market for disabled people is not only the most important... [to full text]

Transition into a Canadian university for non-native English speaking imigrant students: finding a sense of institutional belongingQuinn, Kaleigh C. 12 September 2013 (has links)
This study examined the perceptions of non-native English speaking immigrant students at a small Canadian university relating to their transition to university, their experiences within the social and academic contexts of the campus, and their sense of belonging on their campus. This study used a phenomenological approach, and was supported by a conceptual framework of minority student persistence and belonging within postsecondary education. The findings of this study suggest that these students’ positive social experiences and perception of the campus as being diverse and open to diversity were connected to students’ sense of belonging. The findings also suggest that increased availability of customized support is needed for non-native English speaking students on this Canadian campus, and that greater awareness among university faculty and administration needs to be paid to students’ integration in classroom and campus practices. This thesis concludes with recommendations for practice and future research.

Coping, stress and suicide ideation in the South African Police Service in Kwazulu-Natal / Linda StraussStrauss, Linda January 2003 (has links)
Suicide in the South African Police Service is a reality. The inability to cope effectively with
stressful events in a working environment could lead to chronic stress, burnout and even
suicide. The purpose of this research was to establish the current level of suicide ideation in
police officials in the KwaZulu-Natal Province. Secondly, the purpose was to determine the
relationship between coping and stress, and thirdly, whether these factors could he used to
predict suicide ideation of police officials in the Kwazulu-Natal Province.
A cross-sectional survey design was used to achieve the research objectives. The study
population consisted of 272 uniformed police officials in the KwaZulu-Natal Province. The
following measuring battery was used: a biographical questionnaire, the Adult Suicide
Ideation Questionnaire, COPE Questionnaire, and the Police Stress Inventory. Descriptive
statistics (e.g. standard deviations, means, skewness and kurtosis) and inferential statistics
were used to analyse the data. Cronbach alpha coefficients, inter-item correlation coefficients
and confirmatory factor analysis were used to assess the reliability and validity of the
measuring battery. Discriminant analysis was used to determine which variables could be
used to predict suicide ideation.
The results indicated that 9 (3,30%) of the uniformed police officials have significant suicide
ideation levels and that 11 (4,15%) police officials in the KwaZulu-Natal Province have
attempted suicide in the past. No difference was found between the suicide ideation of males
and females. A positive correlation between suicide ideation, police-specific stressors, as well
as problem-focused coping, passive coping and social support was found. The results also
indicated correlations between suicide ideation, medical condition and alcohol abuse, where
stress because of lack of resources was identified as the primary stressor that caused alcohol
abuse.
The results also indicate that stress caused by job demands and lack of resources as well as
police-specific stressors, problem-focused coping, passive coping and social support could be
used to classify police officials into groups of high and low suicide ideation.
Recommendations with regard to the improvement of the South African Police Service, as
well as for future research were made. / Thesis (M.A. (Industrial Psychology))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2004.

Identity and integration : an enquiry into the nature and problems of theological indigenization in selected early Hellenistic and modern African Christian writersBediako, Kwame January 1983 (has links)
This thesis links theological developments in two eras and contexts of Christian history by exploring how the question of Christian identity is dealt with by a number of Christian writers who are chosen for their representative significance in the two contexts. By this approach, the two eras concerned, early Hellenistic Christianity and modern African Christianity, are treated as belonging together within the one entity of Christian history. In a brief Introduction I attempt to establish the case for the methodological principle stated, and also to indicate its importance for understanding modern African theology in particular. Chapter One examines the intellectual and ideological background against which early Hellenistic Christian self-definition was to develop. The attempt is made to show that it was in response to the intellectual and spiritual forces that operated in the Graeco-Roman world, particularly as these affected the "Pagan" perception of Christianity, that the emergent Christian thought developed. The rest of Part One (Chapters Two to Five) examines the viewpoints and achievements of Tatian, Tartullian, Justin and Clement of Alexandria. The emphasis throughout is on how the career and thought of each writer witnesses and responds to the existence of a Christian identity problem. It was in the process of the clarification of Christian identity that theological concerns were also shaped and defined. Part Two deals with the modern African Christian story. Chapter Six examines the legacy of the modern missionary enterprise from Europe and North America as the background to the issues that have gained prominence on the African theological agenda in the post-missionary Church. The rest of Part Two (Chapters Seven to Ten) examines the contributions of four writers - E. Bolaji Idowu, John Mbiti, Mulago gwa Cikala Musharhamina and Byang Kato - towards the definition of African responses to the encounter of the Christian Gospel with African tradition, and towards the development of an African theology. The Conclusion (Chapter Eleven) attempts to use the achievement of the patristic period studied in Part One to clarify some of the areas of theological concern which may yet need to receive attention from African theologians. The presence of an intellectual anti-Christian polemic in Africa, as in the earlier period, is noted as one indication of the need for African theologians to take even more seriously the question of Christian identity in the modern African context. It is as this is done, that the uniquely African contribution to Christian theology will be made.

Pataisos įstaigų edukacinio potencialo plėtotės galimybės / Educational potential development opportunities in correctional institutionsKirklienė, Silva 27 February 2014 (has links)
Education of convicts in correctional institutions should become a relevant issue to all society because a negative attitude towards ex-convicts, which has been prevailing for many years, often turns against the society itself. The ex-convict becomes a problem of the society due to subjective and objective reasons, i.e. he/she is unemployed, does not have a dwelling place, he/she has poor education and rather often the relatives of the ex-convict terminate their relations with him/her. Moreover, the psychological state of the ex-prisoner is unstable due to which the situation becomes even more complicated.
