The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of a classroom teacher implementing trail-based functional analyses (FAs), experimentally evaluate the effects of a classroom teacher implementing differential reinforcement of alternative (DRA) procedures with participants diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder in the context of a natural setting, and assess the feasibility of the DRA for the classroom teacher. A multiple baseline with an embedded ABAB design was used for one participant and an ABAB design was used for the second participant to measure the percentage of the participants’ engagement in the alternative behavior and the target behavior. Results showed that the classroom teacher could implement the trail-based FAs with fidelity, DRA procedures were effective for both participants, and the teacher was neutral in regard to the feasibility of the procedures.

This study explored the attitudes and behaviors of adolescents toward sunbathing and sunscreen use by employing the Theory of Alternative Behaviors (Jaccard, 1981) with adolescent participants and a respective parent co-participant. Females were found to be more likely to engage in intentional suntanning efforts, to stay in the sun for a longer duration, and to be more likely to use sunscreen yet to report higher incidence of sunburns. Those with a healthy lifestyle attitude are as likely to engage in intentional tanning, although they are more likely to wear sunscreen. Self-report of tanning behavior was positively correlated to parent's observation of adolescent's behavior. Results of this study support the position that sunscreen partially allows for longer sunlight exposure resulting in higher amounts of UV radiation exposure. Participants who were more likely to wear sunscreen were likewise more likely to spend more time in the sun and to sunburn more frequently.

Busca-se trazer a encenação ficcional, centrada na medicina homeopática para um confronto com tensões e impasses característicos do presente. / [en] The novel Milk of the Dog deals with key-moments in the life of a family, narrated from the point-of-view of its four members. The plot begins with an accident, suffered by the father, and the resulting struggles of the mother and her two children. The story explores the reality of theory vs. experience in issues like health, illness, education, childhood, medicine and therapy. To support the dissertation, the chapters are interrupted and commented on, in nineteen brief essays. They mirror the fiction by reflecting affinities and contrasts, similarities and differences with the unfolding plot. The essays illuminate mostly secondary aspects, but urgent contemporary questions. In the dialogue between fiction and essay, the author s experiences as a journalist and critic are examined, as well as observations about movies, plays, literature and scientific information. We seek to bring fiction, centered on homeopathic therapy, into juxtaposition with currentday tensions and obstacles.
