The EaD's proposal is to insert the individual in the production process of knowledge networking, collaborative and collectively. There are several resources used for this purpose, since virtual platform aggregated with it's tools such as chat, forums, files, tasks, etc. to other artifacts that can be inserted on the process of teaching and learning as links, e-mails, blogs , twitter, etc.. The objective of this task was to investigate the theoretical concepts that implicitly or explicitly guides the teachers' pedagogical practices of the 6th semester of the class of Distance Administration of UEPB. To this, we identified the learning activities offered by teachers and their tools, focusing on the underlying concepts. Finally, we investigated, on the teachers words, the pedagogical concept that supports their practices. From the perspective of redefinition and reconstruction of knowledge is proposed to discuss the approach Vygotsky's social interactionism and the pedagogic concept of mediation as a reference for it evidenced a practice that fills the education requirements connected to the current needs of our society, so that the technologies are embedded in favor of constructing knowledge. The study is based on the perspectives of teaching and learning that are established in each paradigm, so that we can reflect on the actions and interactions of teachers, from that. The research constitutes a case study of qualitative character, since it seeks to describe and interpret the meanings of the words of teachers, establishing a link between the theoretical and the empirical analysis of documents, records represented here by the use of Virtual Environment Learning with their tools and Pedagogical Political Project of the course. The survey results indicate that the teachers surveyed do not have a defined pedagogical concept and its practices are still attached to traditional pedagogical conceptions. They work with digital technologies in distance education, but not on size or potential conferred upon them, much less as a means for the mediation.

Effect of numerical modelling assumptions on the simulated corneal response during Goldmann applanation tonometry

Botha, Natasha January 2014 (has links)
It is widely known that Central Corneal Thickness (CCT) and Radius of Curvature (RoC) in uence the estimated IntraOcular Pressure (IOP) obtained from Goldmann Applanation Tonometry (GAT). However, not much is known about the in uence of corneal material properties, especially in a clinical setting. Several numerical studies have been conducted in an attempt to quantify the in uence of corneal material properties on the IOP. These studies agree that corneal material properties do in uence the estimated IOP, which contradict the initial premise on which GAT was designed, namely that material properties do not in uence the obtained GAT readings. Also, there is no consensus among these studies with respect to corneal material properties, thus a wide range of proposed properties exist. A possible explanation for this range of available corneal properties is the numerical modi elling assumptions used, which seem to be quite different. Different sets of experimental in ation test data were used to calibrate the constitutive models and different limbal boundary conditions were applied to simulate the experimental setup as well as in vivo conditions during GAT simulations. Therefore the purpose of this study is to determine whether these modelling assumptions in uence the obtained IOP and ultimately the overall conclusions. A Finite Element (FE) model of the human cornea is developed, implementing a constitutive model to represent the complex corneal structure and two limbal boundary conditions. This model is then calibrated using two different sets of experimental in ation test data. During calibration of the fibre reinforced elastic constitutive model it is found that independent of the assumptions made regarding the material coe cients, that the numerical in ation data compare well with the experimental data for all cases. Using this model a GAT simulation is conducted to estimate the IOP and the in uence of the modelling assumptions, cornea geometry and material properties are then investigated. The results indicate that the modelling assumptions, cornea geometry and material properties do infuence the estimated IOP. However, when assuming the cornea ground substance stiffness to be constant, it is found that the in uence on IOP due to material properties is not as significant. A correction equation is also proposed to account for the corneal geometric properties by calibrating the numerical model for a numerically normal cornea. This is done by utilising the various data sets which are obtained during the calibration of the constitutive model with the experimental inflation test data. It is concluded that using only inflation data to calibrate the constitutive model is not sufficient to uniquely describe the corneal material. This is evident as different material data sets are obtained, even though the experimental inflation data is matched well for a variety of considered cases. Each of these material data sets, in conjunction with geometric properties, yield different estimates for IOP during GAT simulations. This study therefore recommends the use of additional experimental data, such as strip extensometry, along with inflation test data to adequately calibrate a numerical model. It should also be noted that when modelling GAT care should be taken when considering the choice of limbal boundary condition, experimental data for calibration and assumptions made with regards to material coe cients, as these choices could potentially influence the outcomes and conclusions of a study. / Dissertation (MEng)--University of Pretoria, 2014. / gm2014 / Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering / unrestricted

Homosexuellas upplevelser av bemötande från vårdpersonal : En litteraturstudie

Dahlberg, Emma, Åkerman, Marcus January 2017 (has links)
Background: Homosexuality historically had a series of laws that spoke against their human rights. In Sweden, a healthcare law about fair treatment exists, however, not everyone got the same care. A nurse's key area of expertise is the care and understanding of patient treatment.   Aim: The aim of the literature study was to explore homosexual experiences of treatment in the meetings with healthcare professionals and to look at the included articles sample groups.   Method: Literature study with descriptive design based on 12 qualitative scientific articles from the search engine MedLine and manual searches.   Main results: The results showed both negative and positive experiences of meetings with healthcare professionals. The elements that influenced how the meetings were experienced were the professionals' attitudes, knowledge about the subject and usage of heteronormative words. Most of the included articles informed about the participants' ages and inclusion criteria. The largest part of participants were women and nine of twelve articles were made in Europe.   Conclusion: This have shown that the treatments homosexual patients got could have been influenced by the healthcare professionals’ knowledge, attitudes and personal values. The homosexuals described both positive and negative experiences where heterosexual assumption, certain word choices and feelings of doubt have occurred. An increased knowledge and education about questions concerning homosexual’s and their experiences in the meeting with healthcare can help the undergraduate nurses to develop the capability for a more individual and positive encounter for homosexual people.

Změna kapitálu vyvolaná vlivem migrační vlny v rámci Evropské unie v letech 2014 a 2015 / Capital change caused by the influence of migration wave within the European Union in 2014 and 2015

Kratochvíl, Martin January 2015 (has links)
This thesis deals with the influence of waves of migration in the European Union in 2014 and 2015 to change the capital. Specifically, the one-time change of capital in terms of effective labor. This objective has been addressed in the Solow model by adopting the method of fixed effects. Panel data used for the calculation was collected from the database of the World Bank, Eurostat and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Based on the obtained data it was not possible to demonstrate the influence current migration wave to the capital change effective labor because of the absence of data for the last two years. For this reason, efforts were made to verify some quantitative conclusions Solow model on the resultant data set. Based on the results obtained for the use of data, we can say that we managed to confirm some conclusions about the growth factors and the influence of individual variables Solow model. Another finding relates to the inability to examine the potential economic effects of the current migration wave to the absence of data in recent years.

Learner Agency and Responsibility in Educational Technology

Matthews, Michael Thomas 01 September 2016 (has links)
Though the topic of learner agency has received relatively little discussion in the literature of educational technology, it is nevertheless a significant and actually omnipresent concern of both scholars and practitioners. Through the journal-ready articles contained herein, I show how theories of learning and certain practices of instructional designers reflect implicit positions on the agency of learners. I also discuss agency in more concrete terms as the responsibility for learning that is shared with learners in instructional design contexts. In addition, I provide practical suggestions to help designers keep the learner at the forefront of their design thinking. Through this research, I hope to make the broad philosophical concept of agency more accessible and practical, and to outline some initial directions for further inquiry and practical application in the field of educational technology.

Hodnocení výkonnosti vybraného podniku podle modelu Start Plus a návrhy na zlepšení / Performance Assessment of the Selected Company according to Model Start Plus and Proposals for the Improvement

Hamerník, Petr January 2019 (has links)
This diploma thesis focuses on the evaluation of the performance of the selected company with the help of a multi-criteria model START PLUS. The whole thesis is divided into four fundamental parts that are intertwined. The first part deals with the objectives set and the chosen methodology of this thesis. The theoretical block explains the basic concepts and conventional and unconventional approaches to performance measurement. In the analytical part, the company is characterized, and a complex analysis is carried out based on the chosen model, which results in the identification of strengths and opportunities for improvement, as well as in the point assessment in the studied areas. Based on these findings, real measures are created in the design part, which should contribute to the increase the performance of the company.

The Impact of World Assumptions on the Association between Discrimination and Internalizing and Substance Use Outcomes

Haeny, Angela M., Woerner, Jacqueline, Ahuja, Manik, Hicks, Terrell A., Overstreet, Cassie, Amstadter, Ananda, Sartor, Carolyn E. 01 January 2020 (has links)
This study investigated whether core beliefs about the world being safe and predictable (i.e. world assumptions) mediated the association between discrimination and internalizing and substance use problems among individuals from marginalized groups. Path analyses tested mediating effects of four types of world assumptions on the association between discrimination (race-, gender-, and sexual orientation-based) and anxiety, depression, alcohol and cannabis problems in college students (N = 1,181, agemean = 19.50, SD = 1.67). Limited support for mediation by world assumptions was found: among Asian students, race-based discrimination indirectly impacted anxiety symptoms through low perceived controllability of events. Direct effects across groups and discrimination types were also found.

The Effects of Gender and Behavior on Elementary Teachers' Attributional Assumptions About Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Rollins, Lisa 01 May 1999 (has links)
Questionnaires compromised of (a) a description of a child (either male or female) exhibiting attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) behaviors (either predominately hyperactive/impulsive or predominately inattentive) and (b) 13 questions about the description were completed by 562 regular elementary education teachers in the state of Utah. The questions, which offered teachers a range of responses on a 5 point Likert scale, were designed to assess the extent to which the gender and behaviors of the child described affected the extent to which teachers were able to identify the child as being representative of a child with ADHD, teachers' attributional assumptions about the possible etiological causes and beneficial treatments for the child's difficulties, and teachers' perceived abilities to help the child. Results indicated that behaviors, but not the gender of the child described, significantly affected the teachers' abilities to recognize the child as being representative of someone with ADHD and significantly affected teachers' ratings of etiological causes for the child's difficulties. Neither behaviors nor gender significantly affected teachers' ratings of treatments. Behaviors, but not gender, significantly affected teachers' perceived abilities to help change the described child's actions, but did not significantly affect teachers' perceived abilities to help the described child become a better student. There were no significant interactions between behaviors and gender on any items. These results are discussed with an emphasis on the implications for school psychologists working with children with ADHD and their teachers within the context of the school system.
