Adult movie channel business is always a very controversial subject in the society. However, there is not so much serious research on it. The main reason is adult channels¡¦ sensitivity. On the one hand, people are curious, because they provide the basic natural desire of the human beings. On the other hand, due to that same reason, people tend to take aversive attitude toward the existence of these channels in the society. Based on this phenomenon, the focus of the research is about how these adult channels operate under the pressure of the society. This research can be divided into two parts: the structure of the theory and the analysis of the case. Through relevant theories, we can verify whether these theories are suitable for this particular industry. Meanwhile, we can present the overview and background of adult movie channel market through a lot of related secondary data. We regard these materials as the foundation of analyzing the case company. About the case analysis part, with the combination of theories and case description, we try to sketch the contours of the actual operations of adult movie channel. Because the operation of adult movie channels is based on cable TV, this research will talk about adult movie channel market in terms of cable TV and probe into the market of adult movie channel. From the case study, it can be found that the greatest hindrance of adult movie channel is the law. Under the legal regulations, there is not so much freedom for managers to run the business. In order to overcome these predicaments, they need to adopt cooperations in the industry or develop diversification to keep growing. Besides, they will face other invisible pressure such as moral pressure, the negative impression from the society and conflicts in employees' mind. Through this research, we can come out the true appearance of this special industry, and understand the way of their operation on the ecology of adult movie channel.

To explore the policy influence of cable TV franchise combination

Abstract The main purpose of this article is to explore the policy influence of cable TV franchise combination. In order to break the local monopoly of Taiwan¡¦s cable TV as well as considering the advance technological convergence proposed, Government Information Office (GIO) proposed the adjustment of the existing 47 franchise districts to a single franchise area in three phases in its Jan. 2003 report. The re-arrangement of the franchise region will cause a revolution in the industry. How will it influence those system operators? Is it possible to develop into another cable TV war by cutting prices to gain benefits of audiences? Do system operators have any action plans for the change? Can this policy benefit the industry¡¦s development? This article will provide detailed discussions on these major issues. There are two ways to go about the research. The first is by the means of questionnaire; distribution of questionnaires to 62-system owners in Taiwan results in 54 effective samples gathered. The second is by means of in-depth interview; conducting interviews with industrial, legislative, and academic experts. After statistical analysis and content analysis, the research findings from these interviews are as follow: 1. The re-arrangement of cable TV franchise regions might cause significant competition between system operators. In the long run, it is unlikely that the cable TV industries will apply vicious competition tactics as previously done. It is believed that strategic alliance, stock exchange, and multiple service strategies will be implemented instead. 2. Under the influence of re-arranging franchise region policy and increasing new entry competitions, most system operators will focus on strengthening their network upgrade, customer service, and professional employee training. They are also likely to develop new business opportunities and to engage in cost-saving activities. 3. Most system operators support the policy with positive anticipation. The regulatory authority expects tremendous benefits for both audiences and cable industry. The scholars project an improvement in operators¡¦ customer service quality. In summary, the policy is expected to have a positive influence on cable industry¡¦s overall development. Since the policy has a major impact on the industry¡¦s future, it is essential to meet all development needs of the cable industry. As research suggests that the authorities should communicate with all related parties before rolling out the franchise regional adjustment policy.

Abstract Since the policy of National Information Infrastructure(NII) was brought up by U.S in 1993, medium, internet, telecommunication begins to converge. Industries around the world start to construct new services. The result all comes from the technology progress of broadband network. Cable companies only offer program services before, today they can play an important role in NII blueprint by their competence of last mile and large customer base. Cable companies can offer a lot of valued added service, especially as ITV service. From 90 years the discussion about how ITV will change the human life has never stopped. People living in Europe and U.S have had a chance watch ITV, but ITV in Taiwan seems still can¡¦t be possible. This research explore the straits by using Porter¡¦s competitive advantage of nations model and combines the first mover advantage theory by Wernerfelt, Birger and Karnani, Aneel. Lastly the research constructs a six frames analysis model. Major result of this research tells us each frame has many limiting factors to obstruct the development of cable ITV. And the limiting factors under the government, corporate, supported industry fames are more critical. The intervention by government is the most important limiting factor. Lack of demand, lack of technology, incorrect strategy and incorrect management are not the reason that ITV didn¡¦t happen in Taiwan. The research makes the conclusion that the straits in Taiwan are coming from the vicious circle caused by the government intervention and the bad situation in the cable industry. The research considers if we want the ITV carry out in Taiwan, We must stop the vicious circle. The government policy is the key point to solve the problem. So finally the research provides the four steps policy trying to change the situation of cable industry.

This work is about creation of system which allows for cable TV to manage and monitor their internet subscribers and equipment (modems, servers, routers) over database. Created system allows add remove and manage subscribers over internet browser interface. Operator can monitor each subscribers downloaded and uploaded data amount. This system automatically updates routers and servers configurations as subscriber is being added removed or edited. This system also monitors servers and routers state: traffic, packets transmitted, CPU use, system load, RAM use and disk use. Main router periodically updates database with information about each subscribers downloaded and uploaded data amount, and if subscriber has reached its data limit database server responds to this information by sending new configuration to main router for this subscriber. This system allowed company install cheaper services with restricted data amounts for subscribers and subscribers number increased about twice over a year.

"Digitization" is the global economic policy and technology development trend of the times. Cable companies have begun the digital world layout a long time ago. This research aims at finding out what kind of role as enterprise architecture plays in the digital cable TV internal marketing management. In this research, we select ¡§C¡¨ cable company in Kaohsiung as a case study, using both participant observation and secondary data analysis for data collection purpose, conducting semi-structured interviews for interviewing purpose, in order to find out how much benefit is generated by applying enterprise architecture to the digital cable TV internal marketing management. We construct a digital cable TV enterprise architecture platform for the evaluation of marketing strategy. Through case study, comprehensive results shall provide digital cable TV industry some insight recommendations on the organization marketing management of promotion, the use of help, and marketing of reaching consensus and proper use of various marketing tools. This is the contribution of our research.

Legal Analysis of Cable TV Routing Conflicts

Cable TV refers to the transmission of visual and audio signals to the public by laying cables. Article 5 of the Cable Radio and Television Law says: ¡§System operators installing the networks themselves shall apply to the roads authority for approval if the networks are to be laid underground¡K¡¨ The roads authority on the regional level is the Township Office. Road right granted by the roads authority is usually valid for one year. Cable TV is a licensed business; business licenses issued by the Government Information Office, Executive Yuan are in 9-year term. Although it is subject to the restrictions and regulations of the same laws as public utilities, the business does not enjoy the deserved protection. Hence, system operators often come across setbacks in their operation, which are undoubtedly potential threats to their survival and development. However, contrasting this to the development history of Taiwan¡¦s cable TV industry, it seems from the result that the government institution has played a critical role. Importance of the government¡¦s initiative to moderately liberalize the public goods for creation of an open environment, and to put more emphasis on the overall system planning for the industry development at different stages is beyond words. This study not only analyzes the impact of the Cable Radio and Television Law and regional laws on the system, but also takes real-life examples into consideration, to explain the importance of public interest and freedom of speech for liberalization of routing rights. The question is tackled in different approaches and from different viewpoints, in order to understand the problems and difficulties that system operators face when applying for routing rights from the Township Office. The study expects to provide some positive assistance and suggestions to the industry and the government, for avoidance of improper market intervention.

在數位有線電視的發展中,收視率系統從以往的統計調查方式得以進入到普查計算的方式,因此新收視率系統可以更精細。而在新的收視率收集調查中,有線電視業者有了全體收視戶的詳細收視行為資料,更可以有更多的應用方式。 本研究認為有線電視業者得以運用上述的資訊,再加上數位匯流下的其他用戶屬性的交叉分析後,產生出具有個人化推薦效果的新廣告平台;這樣的新廣告模式可為現有的廣告業者與廣告主所接受而採用。 同時,對於有線電視業者與新收視率系統公司的合作,或是現有有線電視產業中其他角色業者的合作關係改變,本研究也提出了可能性的分析與探討。 / In the development of digital cable television, the ratings system evolves from the statistical based approach into full audience based approach. So the new ratings system can be more precise. Cable system operators will have all subscribers’ detail viewing behavior information in the new rating collection process, thus they can have more applications accordingly. The study suggests that the system operators could combine above information with other user information from their digital convergence business landscape to produce new advertising platform with personalized recommended capability. This new advertising model will be accepted and be used by existing advertising companies and advertisers. Also the study has elaborated about the partnership possibility between system operators and the new ratings system company, as well as the possible relationship change among companies in existing cable industry.

The Suggestions for The Development and Innovation Models of Kaohsiung¡¦s Self-production Cable Channels before and after Administrative Area Integration

The number of cable TV subscribers in Taiwan is nearly 6 million. According to all kinds of statistics, the popularity rate of cable TV should be over 80% if those who watch cable TV without paying are included. The rate is estimated to be higher in metropolitan areas. In recent years, the media industry in Taiwan has been rising and flourishing, especially TV media. Watching TV is the most frequently chosen activity for entertainment in Taiwan families. However, when cable TV system is used to receive, transfer, and transmit wireless and satellite TV, or is applied by using the bandwidth of cables, can ¡§Self-production cable channel¡¨ planned by Business Plan also play the role of the media in TV channels? Restricted by the area division of operating cable TV, the customers of cable TV system operators are community residents. The overall operation has a lot to do with the communities. Self-production cable channel is the local TV station. With emphasis on local cultures in Taiwan, does cable TV system plan the context for local cultures to be the text related to local life, culture and history, especially for southern Taiwan that is short of ¡§care¡¨ from TV media for a long time? Can ¡§Self-production cable channel¡¨ provide the locals with some media functions in suitable time and meet the requirements of communities? For cable TV system which is short of economies scale, what is the operation mode of ¡§Self-production cable channel¡¨? And what are the elements affecting developments? Most of the internal studies related to cable TV emphasize on exploring engineering technique, operation effect, business strategy, subscription fees, subscriber satisfaction, and channel plan, and so on. Studies related to Self-production cable channel are rarely seen. Thus, the three purposes for this study are as following: 1. Explore the role and function of Self-production cable channels. 2. Analyze the development model and elements affecting the development of Self-production cable channels. 3. Seek for the possibilities to creativity of Self-production cable channels and give suggestions. To explore the development model of Self-production cable channels in Kaohsiung city, this study uses data mining technique, interview survey, and case study, and the interviewees include officials, industries, experts and scholars, and community representatives. Besides, literature review, data collection, value chain theory, diamond model, and SWOT Analysis are also used to assist in analyzing. By analyzing Self-production cable channels in Kaohsiung city, 5 conclusions are generalized: 1. Self-production cable channels are defined as the local media, and it produces materials based on communities. 2. The system operator keeps working, but the support is limited. 3. The goals and missions for Self-production cable channels are various. 4. Crisis exists in self-approval and other-approval. 5.
