Faktory konkurenceschopnosti podniků ve strojírenském průmyslu / The Factors of Competiveness of Companies in Engineering Industry

Částková, Barbora January 2011 (has links)
The thesis is called The Factors of Competiveness of Companies in Engineering Industry. I deal with the current situation in engineering, meaning of innovations in companies, the aspects which stimulate them and on the contrary limit them and the possibilities of various kinds of cooperation. The thesis explains the importance of regular analysis of situation of companies on the market, careful determination and fulfillment of the strategy and the operational effectiveness. According to the used resources the factors of competitiveness were determined. In the practical part I analyzed four companies from the surroundings of Ústí nad Orlicí which produce radiators, fittings, machines for textile industry and buses. From acquired information it is possible to say that these companies are competitive and they focus on innovations. I discussed the factors of competitiveness with the managers of engineering companies and I created the summary of the factors which influence prosperity of the engineering companies.

Rozdíly v konkurenceschopnosti mužů a žen na případu vytrvalostních běžců v ČR / Gender differences in competitiveness in the case of distance runners in the Czech Republic

Kouklík, Jakub January 2014 (has links)
Contemporary literature says that women are less competitive than men. In this thesis I find out if this is the case even in an environment of elite Czech distant runners. Statistical and econometric methods applied to the data from the years 2006-2013 reveal significant differences between the sexes across all distances from 1 500 meters to marathon. These are the highest in the longest distances when Czech men run marathons five times faster than Czech women. Furthermore, I show that the gender gap in competitiveness remains constant on the track races, but in the road racing is declining. And because the acceleration among women occurs primarily in the lower ranks of the elite, it is concurrently valid "biological-predisposition" hypothesis, which is based on a constant differences between men and women due to biological differences, and "economic-incentive" hypothesis, according to which the differences is decreasing due to increasing returns of success in the form of the same financial rewards for winning. Completely fastest women act according to the first-mentioned, next best female runners according to the second. Finally, I suggest that growing quantity of women in road races plays substantial role in the women's approaching to men.

Aspects of the South African music industry : an analytical perspective

De Villiers, William Murray 17 August 2007 (has links)
The music industry worldwide is rapidly evolving as a result of commercial, technological and demographic developments. The magnitude of the strategic impact of these developments on the South African music industry is evaluated in terms of internal and external factors, such as the intrinsic industry growth levels, ability to adapt to change, the consumer buying power, audio-visual piracy and counterfeiting, literacy, employment and the prevalence of HIV/AIDS. Collected data from public domain and proprietary music industry sources are transformed and presented in terms of the competitiveness of the South African music industry, from which key points for strategic leverage are identified. These key points of strategic leverage include education and training, relevant music industry research, the formalisation of the music industry strategy process and the development of alternative marketing, sales and distribution channels. In comparison to specific benchmark countries, the South African music industry has significant technological and socio-economic challenges and opportunities that need to be addressed in order to become a competitive co-evolutionary participant in the world music industry. South Africa, as an emerging world player, is ideally positioned for the development and implementation of new technological and commercial systems, such as the download distribution channel. This however, requires the collaborative participation of government departments, educational institutions, public and private enterprises. In particular, in-depth research on the local music industry is needed, which should include the collection of relevant statistical data. This study presents suggestions for some strategic interventions, including an application of the Porter DNA-model. / Dissertation (MMus (Music Technology))--University of Pretoria, 2007. / Music / MMus / unrestricted

Evaluation of a implantation process of the lean thinking and its acting at value flow: a study of case / Avaliação de um processo de implantação de mentalidade enxuta e seu desempenho no fluxo de valor: um estudo de caso

Reinaldo Viveiros Carraro 14 May 2005 (has links)
It is globally recognized the group of advantages and differential competitive generated by the adoption of the work methodology developed by Toyota, and denominated, in the occident, Lean Thinking. The group of tools that composes this methodology is applied broadly and it has vast bibliography proving its effectiveness in the great organizations, especially in the automobile industry, however its applicability in small organizations, manufacturer or not, with continuous flows or intermittent it should be equally productive, although it is still more lacking of studies. The case study presented in this work focuses planning aspects, implementation, control and measure of the acting attributed to the Lean Thinking in an industry global leader in technology of control of movements. It possesses dozens of production cells in the studied unit, it operates at a market of great competitiveness, sazonalidade and of constant technological evolution, demanding a combination of abilities to have flexibility, speed, reliability, quality and good costs. It is made an evaluation of the program of implantation of the methodology Lean and their results, confronting them with some available studies in the world literature. The analysis of the methodology used by the company in the implantation of its program offers as a model proposal for implantations in similar environment.

Inkubatorsprocessen ur svenska textil- och modeentreprenörers perspektiv : En fallstudie på Borås INK / The incubator process from the eyes of Swedish textile- and fashion entrepreneurs

Pettersson, Jenny, Westerberg, Emma, Höglund, Rebecka January 2021 (has links)
Through previous studies, it can be stated that there are problems regarding entrepreneurship in the fashion industry which the lack of the right resources, mainly the lack of business knowledge, is the basis for. To get help with this, many start-ups seek out incubators whose task is to provide support in founding and developing a company by contributing resources. Based on this, this study aims to examine the incubator process from the companies perspective, with a focus on what resources the companies think are lacking within the incubator. Furthermore, it is investigated what the lack of resources is due to, and how the lack of resources affects companies' competitiveness. The study's theoretical framework consists of Barney's (1991) theoretical model Resource-Based View, RBV, and more recent research that is based on this model. RBV is in the study used to categorize the resources mentioned in the empirical data, and to be able to analyze and understand how the lack of resources affects companies from a competitive perspective. Through a qualitative approach, the study was conducted as a single case study at Borås INK, Sweden’s leading incubator for textile and fashion companies. Empirical data were collected through semi-structured interviews in combination with document studies, where documents related to the incubator were studied, in order to get an idea of the process Borås INK uses. The interviews were conducted partly with an informant from Borås INK but also with informants from companies that carried out the incubator process. The results from the empirical data show that companies lack several resources within the incubator. More specifically, could 11 themes be identified, the main shortcomings of which are related to human and organizational resources. Furthermore, a perceived variation among the informants is identified, which is explained by a variation of supervisors. For that reason, various resource shortages may be explained by the incubator’s organizational deficiency in managing these resources, despite the fact that they potentially exist within its organization. What is concluded in this study is that a lack of human and organizational resources within incubators may result in companies' potential competitiveness through other resources not beingfully utilized. Thus, the study makes a theoretical contribution through an increased understanding of incubators and how lack of resources within incubators could affect the competitiveness of incubated companies. In addition, the study makes a practical contribution to incubators byidentifying opportunities for improvement. This paper is written in Swedish.
