Don't Let the World Rot: Anarchism, Hardcore Music, and Counterculture

Bolt, Pearson 01 January 2016 (has links)
Hardcore music is intrinsically anarchistic. The hardcore music scene represents a radical departure from contemporary society. Rejecting the materialism, militarism, and hedonism of the mainstream music scene—and, by extension, modern culture—hardcore music presents an alternative lifestyle rooted in solidarity, equality, and liberty. Indeed, the culture of the hardcore scene approaches a transitive, nomadic model of an anarchistic commune built on resistance as a way of life. In this study, I identified the ways music and lyrics craft attitudes and environments for revolt and rebellion, cultivating critical thinking and disobedience in equal measures. In order to understand the hardcore community, I conducted interviews, studied political theory, analyzed the lyrics of hardcore bands, and synthesized the data to draw connections between major thematic elements of this community. I've found that hardcore music has created a countercultural ethos that subverts and defies political apathy and instigates direct action in order to revolutionize the political process and erect spaces of anarchic solidarity.

Hur ser fastighetsmäklare på friskrivningsklausuler? / How do real estate agents view disclaimer clauses?

Cederlund, Adrian, Asklund, Oskar January 2023 (has links)
The main aim of this Bachelor thesis is to increase the knowledge in real estate business. Since this investment is, for most people, likely the largest and the most important one they make in a lifetime, it is of great value to have a good understanding of the subject. The thesis will go into and focus extra on disclaimer clauses, their impact on the purchase and the real estate agents perspective on this legal tool. To find out about this, separate interviews have been conducted with   active real estate agents. The work is a combination of a qualitative study and jurisprudence as you can´t ignore that both the real estate transaction and the real estate agent's profession are strictly regulated by the law. This means that the empirical part will include the analyzed interviews, while the theoretical part will consist of the legal framework. The study indicates that there is a difference in the strength of legal protection when choosing to use a disclaimer clause versus a hidden-defect insurance. The study also indicates that additionally, it is observed that interviewed real estate agents are inclined to point towards the insurance  option rather than utilizing disclaimers, with a specific exception which is the deceased's estate.

Case Study On Chinas And Swedens Development Strategy In Ethiopia

Bruggeman, Brian January 2022 (has links)
Development assistance has been important in providing sustained socio-economic progress in a developing country. Overall, it has decreased consumption poverty, contributed to a rapid expansion of modern sectors (industry), enhanced government spending, and increased aggregate investment. However, not all countries and aid organizations follow the same development guidelines but compose different development strategies. In this research, I will make an analytical comparison between China's development strategy, which is mainly directed at achieving societal development, and Sweden's development strategy which is more focused on the rights of the individual. This research will analyze the development strategies of the two aforementioned countries in Ethiopia, as both countries have a longstanding relationship of providing development assistance there. Furthermore, the Ethiopian government has been showing signs of developmental authoritarianism, which is concurrent with China's development strategy and national political system. Nevertheless, various conflicts and human rights violations suggest the need for policies more focused on individual rights, as Sweden presented. I will analyze the current situation in Ethiopia through the theoretical concept "negative-positive peace framework". Additionally, this research will analyze if and how the donor countries are benefiting from the development assistance, and how the development strategies affect global actors outside of Ethiopia.
