No. of bitstreams: 1 CimariaPROS.pdf: 1137578 bytes, checksum: 6105cd049ff9ace294e10673c0d93fea (MD5) Previous issue date: 2008-08-29 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior / The shrimp farming industry is the most profitable area of the aquaculture at Rio Grande do Norte (RN) state, which is one of the largest producers in Brazil. However the infections that affect the shrimp cause major economic losses. The infection is a result of the interaction between the shrimp, the environment and pathogen. The change of these factors may lead to a condition of stress and susceptibility to opportunistic infections. One of these infections caused by Infectious Hypodermal and Hematopoietic Necrosis Virus (IHHNV) is widely distributed in several countries and affects a wide range of hosts. To optimize conditions for production of Litopenaeus vannamei shrimp, the more species cultivated in Brazil, it is necessary to understand the effects of environmental factors in the susceptibility of this species to infections. The aim of this study was to determine the IHHNV prevalence and to investigate the influence of environmental factors as salinity, temperature, stocking density, dissolved oxygen and rainfall in the IHHNV incidence in L. vannamei grown in farms, in the RN state. To determine the IHHNV prevalence were used 1089 samples of L. vannamei collected in seven farms. To perform the study about the influence of environmental factors, 525 samples of L. vannamei shrimp were collected in eight farms located in regions of low (0-1 ), medium (21-30 ) and high (38-57 ) salinity, using extensive (≤15 shrimp/m2 ), semi-intensive (18-33 shrimp/m2) or intensive (>36 shrimp/m2) stocking density systems. The IHHNV infection was determined in pleopod and hemolymph using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The environmental factors were recorded during the collection of animals, using a refractometer to measure the salinity and a multi-parameter meter to measure the temperature and concentration of dissolved oxygen in the water. The IHHNV prevalence in RN was 43% (468 infected shrimp out of 1089), varying on different farms. On the seven farms studied, IHHNV prevalence ranged from 18.6% to 54.8%. The infection rates in the shrimp cultured in low, medium and high salinity were respectively 43.10% (125/290), 31.2% (15/48) and 24.6% (46/187) and was significantly higher in shrimp grown in low salinity (P<0.001). The infection rates in ponds of extensive, semi-intensive and intensive systems were respectively, 28.7%, 28.28% and 47.84%, and was significantly higher in high stocking densities (P<0.001). This study indicated a high IHHNV prevalence and a significant effect of salinity and stocking density, but not of the temperature, rainfall and dissolved oxygen on the IHHNV infection rate in the L. vannamei shrimp cultured in the northeastern Brazil / A carcinicultura ? a ?rea da aquicultura mais rent?vel do Rio Grande do Norte (RN), que ? um dos maiores produtores do Brasil.

Souza, Carla Ruffoni Ketzer de January 2008 (has links)
Introduction Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) affects between 3% and 10% of school aged children, leading to impaired individual, academic and social functioning in childhood and adolescence. Despite of that, the etiology of ADHD remains unclear. The high heritability points to a large genetic contribution to the etiology of ADHD. However, the development of the disorder will also depend of an interaction between genetic and environmental risk factors. Many questions remain to be answered, such as the association between the ADHD phenotypic heterogeneity and the environmental risk factors, leading to different subtypes of the disorder. Objective The objective of the present study is to investigate the association between pre-, peri-, and early postnatal complications (PDPC) and ADHD predominantly inattentive type (ADHD-I). Method: Children and adolescents between 6 and 17 years old from 12 public schools, and from an ADHD outpatient program both in Porto Alegre were assessed. After an extensive diagnostic evaluation, 124 ADHD-I cases and 124 non-ADHD controls, matched by sex and age, were included in the study. Informations about prenatal, delivery and early postnatal complications, as well as potential confounders were obtained by direct interview with biological mothers. Results: Conditional logistic regression analysis showed that children and adolescents whose mothers presented more PDPC had a significant higher risk for ADHD-I (p = 0.005; OR= 1.25; CI95%: 1.1 – 1.5). Conclusions: In a case-control study, we expanded to ADHD-I previous findings suggesting the association between perinatal factors and broadly defined ADHD.

This research aimed to verify the composition and structure of Characeae community at Itaipu reservoir (24°05´S e 25°33´S; 54°00´W e 54°37´W), formed in Parana river, relating them to simple environmental variables, such as conductivity, water transparency and fetch. Samples were collected in eight arms of rivers that form the Brazilian side of the reservoir (Arroio Guaçu, São Francisco Verdadeiro, São Francisco Falso, São Vicente, São João, Ocoí, Pinto e Passo Cuê). A total of 17 taxa were identified, of which Chara hydropitys Reichenbach, C. rusbyana Howe, Nitella axillaris A. Braun, N. glaziovii G. Zeller, N. gracilis (Smith) C. Agardh, N. hyalina (DC) C. Agardh, N. inversa Imahori and N. microcarpa Braun, represent new citations in the Itaipu Reservoir and Paraná State. Chara guairensis, Nitella furcata and Nitella glaziovii showed the largest geographical ranges, while Chara hidropytis and Chara rusbyana showed more restricted distribution. Furthermore, it was found that among the environmental factors considered important for the establishing of charophytes at the tributaries of the reservoir, the underwater radiation positively affects the occurrence of the genera Chara and Nitella, while fetch values showed negative influence on the occurrence of genus Nitella during the period analyzed. Chara guairensis, Nitella furcata e Nitella glaziovii apresentaram as maiores abrangências geográficas, enquanto Chara hidropytis e Chara rusbyana apresentaram distribuição mais restrita.

Launois, Lionel 24 June 2011 (has links)
Fish communities remain underused in the domain of lentic ecosystem bioindication, even though water managers need such tools in the current context of the Water Directive Framework. The objective of this thesis was to analyse the fish communities’ response to various anthropogenic pressures, in order to define the candidate biological variables in bioindication and to develop an index to evaluate the ecological status of French natural lakes and reservoirs. Several questions are raised.First of all, the means available to select fish-based metrics responding to catchment-scale anthropogenic pressures are analysed using a typological approach. This analysis consists in classifying lentic ecosystems using classifications, and then, within each homogenous group of ecosystems identified based on environmental criteria, performing linear regressions between candidate fish-based metrics and anthropogenic pressures. The results clearly show that fish communities could be used as good bioindicators for the lentic ecosystems, but they also underline the limits of typological approaches. To test how a bioindicator shared by natural lakes and reservoirs could be developed, an alternative site-specific method was subsequently developed. Statistical modeling was applied to control the natural environmental effects on lentic fish communities. This analysis shows that fish-based metrics responding to catchment-scale anthropogenic pressures differ in the two types of lentic ecosystems. The last part reports the development of an index, based on the reference condition approach, using a hindcasting statistical approach. This method, still infrequently used, enables one to sidestep the problem related to the selection of reference sites in France. Furthermore, this method allows modeling biological reference conditions, i.e. conditions without anthropogenic pressures. Fish communities’ characteristics are then compared for both undisturbed sites and sites that are more or less impacted by anthropogenic pressures. Both catchment-scale and local anthropogenic pressures were considered in this analysis. Following this protocol, a lake fish-based index resulting from the combination of metrics that respond jointly to global and local anthropogenic pressures was developed for natural lakes and reservoirs. Finally, the advances made as a result of this research and its perspectives are discussed with regards to the European context of aquatic ecosystem management.

Dinâmica populacional e avaliação do estoque do camarão rosa (Farfantepenaeus subtilis Pérez-Farfante 1967) na plataforma continental amazônica brasileira / Population dynamics and stock assessment of the brown shrimp, Farfantepenaeus subtilis, (Pérez-Farfante 1967) in the Amazon continental shelf

José Augusto Negreiros Aragão 12 September 2012 (has links)
The brown shrimp (Farfantepenaeus subtilis) exploited by the industrial fishery on the continental shelf of the Brazilian Amazon has a short but complex life cyele, inhabiting oceanic areas, at the north of the area of occurrence, during the adult and larval stages, and estuarine areas and lagoons in post-larval and juvenile. The period of highest intensity of reproduction extends from May to September and soon after the hatch, the larvae start their migration to coastal areas, passing through several stages, where they settle and remain resident between June and October. From September to January of the following year the intensity of recruitment to ocean areas is higher, and once there they start to mature and are caught by the industrial fishery from December on. The highest abundance of the adult population in terms of biomass is observed from March to August when the largest catches also occur. Females grow larger than males and are always present in greater proportion in catches (61%). The asymptotic lengths were estimated at 231 mm (k = 1.6 \'year POT.-1\') and 205 mm (k = 0.94 \'year POT.-1\') for females and males respectively. The population has a natural mortality rate relatively high, 2.53 \'year POT.-1\' for females and 1.83 \'years POT.-1\' for males, and pronounced fluctuations in recruitment and abundance are observed, with evidence of being strongly governed by environmental conditions. The stock has been exploited at moderate levels in recent years (E = 0.45), although it has suffered high rates of exploitation in the 80\'s, which led to a reduction in population size. The maximum sustainable yield, considered a long-term average, was estimated at 4,032 ton of tail per year for a fishing effort of 19,370 days at sea. In recent years, it is observed a tendency of recovering of the population biomass, but annual fluctuations are characteristics of the species. The flow of the Amazon River is the main environmental facto r that governs the conditions of the coastal environment in the region and it was found that it is correlated with the fluctuatícn of the brown shrimp population abundance. It is postulated that the uptake and survival of larvae and post larvae in the coastal environment is lnfluenced by the intensity of river flow, The period during which they settle at the nurseries in the coastal zone coincides with the dry season and their survival is favored when the flow of the river is below the average, and vice versa. Therefore, management measures aimed at sustainable use of the resource must be associated with the knowledge of environmental conditions during this phase, as well as studies on the abundance of post-larvae and juveniles in the coastal zone.

Compact Sensors for Evaluation the Thermal Comfort / Compact Sensors for Evaluation the Thermal Comfort

Kazkaz, Mohammad January 2017 (has links)
• Teoretické porovnání teploty kulového teploměru a operativní teploty. • Navržení, rozvoj a konstrukce nového deskového senzoru pro posouzení tepelného stavu vnitřního prostředí. • Navržení a konstrukce testovací komory pro porovnávání senzorů tepelného stavu prostředí. • Kalibrace zkonstruovaného senzoru měřením fyzikálních veličin charakterizujících tepelný stav prostředí. • Testy směrové závislosti vyvinutého deskového senzoru a porovnání s kulovým teploměrem v testovací komoře.

Posouzení vlivu sociálních a environmentálních faktorů na ceny nemovitostí pro bydlení v okrese Náchod / Assessment of the Impact of Social and Environmental Factors on Real Estate Prices in the Náchod Region

Kubečková, Pavla January 2010 (has links)
Each sector of human activity is linked to the prices, which generally affect the decisions of the man. Price as such can be determinative factor. The first part of this work is aimed at a general interpretation of the market mechanism, specification of a particular type of market, which is a real estate market and the definition of the factors that affect prices of real estate. In the next section there is described researched locality, which is the Nachod district in Kralovehradecky region, and methodology for assessing the impact of social and environmental factors on the prices of real estate for housing. The default for this property is a real estate database that provides information on prices, characteristics of the Czech Statistical Office, and other documents that serve as information on assessed factors. On the basis of these data there are examined interdependencies between them and the conclusion of this analysis provides an overview of knowledge. There is also assessed the building-up at this location and developing trends in the region.

Individuals’ perceptions of their cancers’ risks stemming from environmental factors : overview, relationships with adoption of health-related behaviors and determinants / Perceptions individuelles des risques de cancer liés aux facteurs environnementaux : état des lieux, liens avec l'adoption de comportements en santé et déterminants

Genton, Marine 15 September 2017 (has links)
To explore and analyze individuals’ perceptions of their own cancers’ risks in general and stemming from environmental factors. (2) To investigate their relationships with individuals’ adoption of health-related behaviors. (3) To identify and analyze the determinants of these perceptions. Methods: A theoretical and an empirical literature reviews, an exploratory qualitative study among individuals with and without personal cancer history and a confirmatory quantitative study among a representative sample of the French population have been conducted. Results: (1) Cancers’ risks stemming from environmental factors are a subject of concern among French people. In particular, more than half of our sample perceived themselves at risk to develop cancers stemming from outdoor air pollution, pesticides and stress. (2) Individuals’ adoptions of health-related behaviors can be associated with their risk perceptions, but are more associated with their endorsement of prevention-related beliefs, and their time and risk preferences. Endogeneity strongly impacts the significance of associations between perceptions and behaviors. (3) Endorsement of cancers-related beliefs and salience of cancers’ risks stemming from environmental factors determine more strongly individuals’ risk perceptions than availability and affect heuristics, knowledge, perceived control and voluntariness of risk exposures, personal health history and socio-demographic characteristics. Discussion: Our results, consistent with the literature, bring new outcomes helpful to better understand individuals’ risk perceptions and to design targeted public health policies

Matematické modely vlivu vybraných faktorů na rychlost fotosyntézy pro střední odborné školy a gymnázia / Mathematical models of effects of selected factors on photosnythesis for highschools

Cinibulková, Renata January 2010 (has links)
The goal of this Master thesis was development of teaching materials that are focusing on mastering the fundamentals of mathematical modelling on the examples of photosynthetic processes and influence of selected environmental factors on these processes. Developed models of photosynthetic response to select environmental factors, worksheets, methodical manuals and other supporting materials belong to the teaching materials for secondary schools and serve as a basis of work with models. This teaching materials are aimed to introduce modelling and its significance not only in science but also in education. The present thesis was accomplished on the basis of participation of the Department of Experimental Plant Biology of Faculty of Science of Charles University in Prague in international project NSF within programme GLOBE - The Carbon Cycle. The present thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical part and practical part. The theoretical part includes a literary review and an introduction to the mathematical modelling (in software Stella) that are elaborated considering the teaching purposes and serve as a theoretical background for practical part of present thesis. The chapters that deal with increasing interest in mplementing of modelling in education and with philosophical background of software...
