On this workshop, we will show a few activities using ideas from linear function, logarithm function and trigonometric function ( this one will be associated with chemistry and physics themes) . Activities abording linear function must be applied to students from 9th year from the basic education or 1st and 3rd year from the high school students. First linear function wants to focus the main ideas of movements on physics and showing its applications on functions. On this activity , the student should build na easy way to collect informations about position and time from a movement of a mobile and this one must be the nearest possible from the uniform rectilinear motion. With this device, we are going to make a film of the movement of a mobile, so then we can build a table with all the information we need. With the table we can build graphs using programs such as Excel and Geogebra. Assisted by the physics teacher, we are supposed to make some conclusions about the study of the linear function and the straight on analytic geometry Logarithm function is used to calculate the pH of a chemistry solution. The solution will change its pH if basis(NaOH) or acid(HCl) be increased to it according to this function pH = -log[H+] ou pOH = -log [OH-] → pH = 14 – pOH, with this informations we can build a pH table in function of the volume and then a graph can be constructed using Excel or Geogebra. This activity can also work intuitive notions of limit when the pH close to 7 this through both the table and the graph and finding even functions of pH correction equation. This activity should be worked with students in the 1st or 2nd year of high school with teacher intervention chemistry as applied to chemical concepts in this activity. The trigonometric functions trys to show that it is the best function to a study of periodic movements or any study that involves periodicity. For this function we will use Tracker software to collect informations about the positions of a simple pendulum in relation to its projection in horizontal and vertical according to the time. Tracker is very helpful because it can film a lot of positions that occurs on this experience. All work activities interdisciplinarity between mathematics and physics or between mathematics and chemistry and so showing that mathematics is not just an isolated sciences as many students think.

The Effect of Function-based Supports on Treatment Integrity of Function-based Interventions

Montano, Corey Joanna, Montano, Corey Joanna January 2016 (has links)
Function-based assessments and interventions are routinely used in school settings as an effective method to address problem behaviors that impede the learning of the student or others. When function-based interventions are not successful, it is often due to problems with treatment integrity (TI). Using an ABCBC single subject design, this study examined whether function-based teacher supports could improve TI. The results demonstrated that the function-based supports provided to the teacher resulted in higher levels of TI and improvements in student behavioral outcomes. Using function-based intervention concepts to develop teacher intervention support, limitations to the study, and directions for future research are discussed.

Analytic Solutions to Algebraic Equations

Johansson, Tomas January 1998 (has links)
This report studies polynomial equations and how one solves them using only the coefficients of the polynomial. It examines why it is impossible to solve equations of degree greater than four using only radicals and how instead one can solve them using elliptic functions. Although the quintic equation is the main area of our investigation, we also present parts of the history of algebraic equations, Galois theory, and elliptic functions.

Vznik, zánik a pozastavení výkonu funkce člena orgánu kapitálové obchodní společnosti / Creation, termination and suspension of function of a member of a limited company body

Maslova, Darya January 2020 (has links)
Creation, termination and suspension of function of a member of a limited company body Abstract This thesis deals with the issues of creation, termination and suspension of function of a member of a limited company body and focuses on a relatively narrow aspect of the said topic related to the institute of codetermination in relation to the creation, termination and suspension of function of a member of a supervisory board of a joint stock company. Currently effective legislation contains significant gaps and it causes certain interpretation ambiguities and prevents the proper use of the institute of codetermination in practice. The present work is mainly aimed at identification of problem points and analysis of the most important controversial issues of the current legislation in the field of codetermination and aspires to their comprehensive solution. The work also takes into account the legislative changes effective from January 1, 2021 and evaluates their potential benefits regarding elimination of the identified shortcomings. The work is divided into four chapters. The first chapter contains the definition of the term codetermination and provides an overview of how this legal institution is regulated within the legal orders of selected foreign countries and at the European Union level. Executive Function In Pediatric Patients With Intractable Epilepsy Following Hemispherectomy

Lundmark, Jennifer 01 January 2010 (has links)
Hemispherectomy has gained widespread endorsement as a useful technique for treating seizures in patients with cerebral hemispheric dysfunction. Following this procedure, most patients experience seizure-freedom or a substantial decrease in the number of seizures occurring. Regarding other areas of functioning, patients generally maintain the same level of intelligence, language abilities, motor functioning, and visual ability, and experience improvements in behavioral disturbances and social skills. However, the current outcome literature lacks information regarding the effect of hemispherectomy on executive function. The purpose of this study is to evaluate executive function in pediatric patients with intractable epilepsy following a hemispherectomy. The parents of children who had undergone this surgical intervention completed the Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function (BRIEF; Gioia, Isquith, Guy, and Kenworthy, 2002) and their children's scores were compared to those of children with epilepsy treated with anticonvulsant medications (AEDs) only. The impact of clinical variables (i.e. age at time of surgery, lateralization of hemispherectomy, and amount of time since surgery) on BRIEF scores were also examined. Results indicated that children undergoing a hemispherectomy produced lower scores (less impaired) on several of the BRIEF scales as compared to those taking AEDs only. The left and right hemispherectomy group differed only on a subscale measuring behavioral inhibition, with the right hemispherectomy group producing a higher mean (meaning more impairment). Several BRIEF scores in the aggregate hemispherectomy group were positively correlated with time since surgery, such that longer post-operative periods were associated with poorer performances on the BRIEF. Several BRIEF measures were negatively correlated with age at time of surgery, suggesting that younger patients fared worse on the BRIEF than older patients.

Enterprise resource planning systems implementation and the implications for the internal audit function

Elbardan, Hany January 2014 (has links)
Corporate governance has received increased attention from both regulators and researchers in recent years resulting in highlighting the significance of the internal audit function (IAF). Another transformative force on the IAF has been the dissemination of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems which have an impact on the legitimacy of the IAF if it is not suitably adapted. However, there is insufficient knowledge about the adaptations of the IAF which are required if it is to maintain its essential role in governance. This thesis extends our knowledge by exploring and theorising the adaptation of the IAF after ERP introduction. This thesis uses institutional theory as a lens through which to investigate how the IAF responds to the external governance pressures and the internal pressures of the control logic following the introduction of an ERP system. Data were gathered from two listed companies in the food and beverage sector and two large banks operating in Egypt, where one of each pair is an international company and the other is a national company. Interviews and focus groups were conducted with all stakeholders in addition to careful analysis of a number of internal and external documents related to the ERP and the IAF. The study finds that governance pressures related to the IAF determine the legitimisation criteria for the IAF. There is little coercive governance pressure on the IAF in Egypt. However, international companies with operations in Egypt have introduced normative governance pressures as a result of their compliance with stock exchange rules in other jurisdictions. Therefore, mimetic behaviour has helped in transferring the IAF response to ERP implementation. ERP systems carry new control logics based on some interlinked assumptions, which have affected the IAF. The ERP system’s control logic is aligned with the corporate governance goals and objectives, but further alignment is needed to make the best use of the ERP system in enhancing internal control. The introduction of an ERP system produces uncertainty about the IAF’s activities, which motivates it to adapt by changing its practice and structure. The changes in the IAF are dependent on the strategic response adopted by the auditors, which range from acquiescence to defiance. These responses were found to change over time. The differences in responses result in different outcomes for the IAF adaptation. In the international companies the implementation of an ERP system motivates the IAF to be integrated and have a comprehensive scope, whereas in the national companies change was resisted and the role of the IAF was significantly diminished. The IAF’s legitimacy maintaining strategies depend on the coercive and normative governance pressures, which give directions about how to maintain legitimacy. This study offers an explanation of how information systems contribute to the IAF’s professional stability or change and of how macro-governance pressures can bind micro-IAF practice within organisations.
