Étude des motivations au sélisme : dimensionnement, antécédents et influence sur la pratique séliste / Motivations with the LETS : dimensioning, antecedents and influences on the LETS practice

Privat, Hélène 10 December 2014 (has links)
According to the magazine Terra Eco (20 I 4), 48%o of French people are regular users of collaborative consumption, and 32%o of them are considering doing it. Despite the consumer craze for those alternative exchanges, comparatively, only a few marketing studies on the topic are currently made, This research's aim is therefore to analyse the various motivations of members from a physical network of collaborative consumption through the study of the local exchange trading system (LETS). The first chapter is focused on a state of play of the LETS, through its history, its geographical extent, its aims and uses. The second chapter will observe the LETS under an academic point of view. Through a litterature review, it will show how the differents disciplines are explaining this reality. It will also highlight in details what is determining LETS practices, and will end up suggesting an influence model on motivations behind becoming a LETS member, and their antecedents to the LETS practice. The third chapter will strenghten the model by a deep analysis of l6 semi-directives interviews of LETS users. The fourth chapter will put a light on the methodology used to test it. The fifth chapter will define a motivation scale on why becoming a LETS member, and to validate the measuring scales of the model. The sixth chapter will finally test the model and dig the results deeper. This quantitative study is based on a sample of 957 LETS users. Our thesis main assets are: a modelisation of the LETS member behavior, the discovery of two new motivations to join a LETS-distraction and intellectual enrichment, the creation of a motivation scale behind the decision of joining a LETS, analysis of their influences on the LETS practice, and the creation of a LETS member typology. To conclude, and based on those results, we'll come up with managing advices to give to LETS, to social or private workers from collaborative consumption networks, and also to the State and to territorial collectivities.

Lokální měny, teorie a praxe. / Local currencies, theory and practice

Klusák, Václav January 2013 (has links)
The thesis is focused on local currencies. In response to the current economic crisis, there is a renaissance of interest in the local currencies round the world. The local currency is seen as a useful tool for promoting economic growth. In this work, we concluded that their success is conditioned by several factors. The German local currency Chiemgauer was studied as it serves as an example for other local currencies. I described the Czech relevant discourse and proposed terminology. Further, I presented an overview of complementary currencies in the Czech Republic. The planned local currency of the town of Uvaly (which should be the first genuine local currency in the Czech Republic) was analyzed. Based on the calculated local multiplier I identified potential for a successful role of this forthcoming local currency.

Návrat do budoucnosti. Etnografický výzkum lokálního výměnného systému v Toulouse / Back to the future. Etnographic research of Local Exchange Trading System in Toulouse

Lédlová, Eva January 2018 (has links)
The present diploma thesis deals with the phenomenon of Local Exchange Trading Systems (LETS). Using the method of ethnographic research, the author sought a holistic description during her six-month participation in a LETS group in Toulouse. Drawing upon theoretical literature, she discusses the local forms of exchange, debt, the relationship to money and to the virtual currency. The findings show that such a system can change the perception of debt and the relation to money. The most common reasons for involvement are the need to establish social contacts, while the most pressing problem appears to be the lack of interest of young people in this phenomenon. Keywords LETS, ethnographic research, exchange, gift, debt, individualization, Toulouse

Alternativní a doplňkové ekonomické systémy v praxi / Alternative economical and additional systems in practice

Preusslerová, Jitka January 2019 (has links)
UNIVERZITA KARLOVA FAKULTA HUMANITNÍCH STUDIÍ Katedra sociální a kulturní ekologie Ing. Jitka Preusslerová Alternativní a doplňkové ekonomické systémy v praxi Abstract of diploma thesis Vedoucí práce: Mgr. et Mgr. Arnošt Novák, Ph.D. Praha 2019 Abstract: This thesis is based on the premise of long-term unsustainability of the current economic system and its aim is to explore possible alternatives, or supplements, which could contribute to its transformation into more viable form. The first part consists of a literature research that contains the widest possible range of related concepts, thought and does not neglect the historical continuity of alternative economic thinking. In the practical part the research focuses on two concrete implementations, which are very different from each other. The intention is to explore functionality, their drawbacks and bright sides to which the method of participating observation and interviews with system members or their founders will be used. In the final part there is a discussion about whether this reformation path is the right solution to the problems and shortcomings that the current economic world is facing, or rather a patch for the soul for individuals who are aware of these threats. Key words: shift, money, business, community, natural environment, locality, LETS

[pt] DINHEIRO, DERIVATIVOS, REDES SOCIOTÉCNICAS: UM ENSAIO SOBRE CARTOGRAFIAS DAS FINANÇAS CONTEMPORÂNEAS / [en] MONEY, DERIVATIVES, SOCIOTECHNICAL NETWORKS: AN ESSAY ON THE CARTOGRAPHIES OF CONTEMPORARY FINANCE

06 July 2020 (has links)
[en] Running across the intersecting lines that bind and separate the domains of international political economy, international political sociology and human geography, this research sets out to investigate derivatives as both money-form and monetary institutions and practices. To this end, the study draws inspiration, in general, from what has been termed in the social sciences as the practical turn and, in particular, from theoretical and methodological approaches associated with the Actor-Network Theory. By unpacking the notion of financialization and decentering finance, this investigation seeks to grasp actions, practices, objects, strategies that bring together, sustain, authorize and give form to systematic, albeit contingent and unstable, financial and monetary orderings. In the light of the subprime mortgage market of the United States of America, the study will, on the one hand, shed light to mechanisms of assembly of sociotechnical monetary and financial networks, and, on the other hand, unveil the topological workings that dislocate and amplify racial and gendered lines of exclusion. This work of mapping, so I argue, shall open up spaces for critical engagement and shall indicate the limits and possibilities deriving from multiple modes of dissent.

Efficacy of two different types of throat packs

Parker, Ebrahim January 2009 (has links)
Magister Chirurgiae Dentium - MChD / Post-operative sore throat is a common minor complication following general anaesthesia via endotracheal intubation. Pharyngeal packing has often been implicated in this minor anaesthetic complication. In maxillo-facial and oral surgery, two types of throat packs are commonly used namely ribbon gauze and tampons. In order to establish the efficacy of these two types of throat packs a prospective, randomised, clinical study was conducted. The objectives of the study were threefold: to investigate the effect of the two different types of throat packs on the incidence of post-operative sore throat, to determine the quality of seal provided by the two different types of throat packs and finally, to formulate a faculty protocol. The study consisted of 70 patients undergoing third molar surgery. All the patients were intubated via endotracheal intubation and had a throat pack placed. Patients were also randomly selected and allocated to two groups. One group had ribbon gauze while the other group had a tampon as a throat pack. The study reflected no statistically significant difference in the incidence of postoperative sore throat between the two groups. It was interesting to note that the symptoms of sore throat resolved quicker with the use of tampons. On the other hand, the ribbon gauze provided a better pharyngeal seal. / South Africa
