There is until today a misinterpretation by ordained ministers and some theologians about the place and role of the laity and participation in the Church´s life, not being aware of their importance to the ecclesial action. Liturgical Theology has much to offer through a scathing reflection on the amounts deposited by Vatican II to all sectors of the Church. The Universal Church Documents and CELAM indicate theology task that the Church has today to the conscience of its clear members about discipleship and missionary in an active, conscious and fruitful participation in the Church and in the world. It´s possible to overcome the understanding that many people have about the liturgical reflection. The study demonstrates the role of liturgical science is not merely ritualistic, but causes implications to the diocesan and parochial Church´s life, and in the very essence of the Christian person contributing to a better reality for themselves and others. This task must be done and the liturgical theology has the assignment to elucidate it to everyone, so there is a correct understanding of it / A presente dissertação de mestrado em teologia sistemática, cujo tema é o sacerdócio real: fundamento para uma participação litúrgica ativa e frutuosa dos fiéis leigos (as), pretende por meio de uma reflexão teológica, demonstrar o valor da participação dos fiéis na ação litúrgica da Igreja e na vida cristã, efetivada pelo sacerdócio real.

The specific objective is to check the current reality of musical activities in these churches, identifying the conceptions and practices that underpin their cultic musical activities. This is an emerging theme that needs of more systematic studies that allow understand the musical activities in the referred churches, from the action of pastors, and "praise ministries" and where are founded their cultic musical practices. It is relevant cast a critical eye on the reality of musical activities of these churches, and that allows knowing the reality of other historic churches in the field of cultic music. It is understood that this proposed of study suits the prospects of scientific production at present and covers problems and specific situations of socio-cultural and political contexts of the studied churches. The working hypothesis was: the process of musical Pentecostalization disliturgied the sacred music used in cults of the historical Protestant churches by influence of gospel musical market. The research universe consists of two historic Baptist churches and two Presbyterian churches, and the research was divided into two phases: on the first, it was held an initial survey of how many Baptist and Presbyterian historic churches exist in Montes Claros, and made up the choose of four of them to carry out the fieldwork research. In the second phase, priority was given to the particular reality of each church selected, with respect to their musical activities. The work was developed from bibliographical research, documentary research, semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, participant observation, photographic records and in audio and video of the cultic musical activities in each one of the four selected churches. The obtained results point to a supremacy of using of the called gospel music in relation to official hymnody of each denomination, the print media being replaced by electronic media and significant changes in cultic liturgy of each church / O presente trabalho se propõe a investigar aspectos relacionados à utilização da música sacra na liturgia dos cultos das igrejas batistas e presbiterianas históricas na cidade de Montes Claros – MG.

Liturgie et organisation de l'espace dans un groupe cathédral : le cérémonial de la cathédrale de Metz (XIIè-XIIIè siècles) / Liturgy and organization of space in a cathedral group : the ceremonial of the cathedral of Metz (XIIth-XIIIth centuries)

Trimbur, Virginie 14 December 2018 (has links)
The Liber de ordinatione et officio totius anni in ecclesia Metensi, usually designed under the name Cérémonial, is a lost medieval liturgy manuscript which was last kept at Metz municipal library (ms. 82). Nowadays, the full text is fortunately known thanks to the scientific edition led by Bishop Pelt. This text was likely dated from the XIIth century but the manuscript was quickly perceived as a copy from the XIIIth century. It has always intrigued researchers and gave rise to numerous debates due to its typological classification. As a canonical ordinary, this text describes with precision the liturgical particularisms of Metz cathedral, and details the ordinance of each celebrations, thus linking the various players with the various spaces. It has never been studied for itself and was only used to describe the Ottonian cathedral in which it was written, in parallel to some archaeological discoveries at the end of the XIXth century and beginning of the XXth century. The main interesting feature of this work is its analysis of a fundamental medieval text about the liturgy at Metz. The document also details the architecture of the cathedral built by Thierry Ist, and consecrated by Thierry IInd on June 27th, 1040, flanked by the Saint-Jean baptistry on its forecourt, and by a cloister on its southern flank, with the latter becoming the current Place d’Armes in 1754. It also names the five adjacent churches: Saint-Pierre-le-Majeur, Sainte-Marie, Saint-Paul, Saint-Pierre-le-vieux and Saint-Gall. This cathedral group is a legacy of the claustrum devised by Bishop Chrodegang in the VIIIth century, during the great liturgical reform. Hence, the study of the Ceremonial enables the understanding of the canonical group’s organisation by the deployment of the liturgy in that architectural environment. Spaces are organised, hierarchised, and unified by what makes the particularity of Metz’ liturgy: its stational feature, similar to the Roman liturgy brought from Rome by Chrodegang during the VIIIth century. This specialisation of sanctuaries plays a part in the spatial ‘marking’ of liturgy and allows a better understanding of it. The functionalist approach of space thus becomes a highly symbolic approach, in which the canonical district is considered both as a whole, and as an organised space where each ecclesial is necessary for the group’s unity. The information also includes the city’s topography, and other manuscripts from Metz complete the data contained in our text. The worship’s practices of Metz cathedral group during the XIIth century are not as singular as one might believe. We know of numerous of the XIIIth century ordinairies that were attached to canon cathedral communities.

Aux sources de la pensée de dom Guéranger (1805-1875) : liturgiste, restaurateur du monachisme bénédictin / To the sources of the thinking of Dom Guéranger (1805-1875) : a liturgist, restorer of Benedictine monasticism

Blanchard, Claudine 15 December 2016 (has links)
The thesis investigates the sources of the thinking of the famous abbot of Solesmes, analyzing his initial training and motivation when he restores Benedictine monasticism in France in the early nineteenth century. His liturgical work that made him famous is part of a whole: the young Prosper Guéranger belongs to that generation of clerics called "ultramontane" who resists the French State attempt to annex the Gallican Church. As an active member of the Mennaisian circle with his friends Montalembert and Lacordaire, Guéranger presents Benedictine monasticism as a means of spiritual renewal for the Church: the foundation of Solesmes abbey is a political project which should enable the regeneration of the Church and even of society as a whole. This current has branches in Europe and especially in England with the Oxford Movement: Newman and Guéranger draw on the same sources in the same years for similar challenges. Guéranger’s monastic project is similar in some respects to some utopias of romantic inspiration that bloom at the same time but it’s especially the Roman centralism and claimed eschatological dimension of monastic life, manifested in the liturgy, which makes Solesmes a means of spiritual resistance. Guéranger belongs to a general movement that explores the sources of Christian antiquity in order to allow the Church to regain its fundamental identity and the means of its mission.

Les évolutions de la liturgie en Angleterre sous le règne d’Henri VIII (1534-1547) / Liturgical developments in England under Henri VIII (1534-1547)

De Mezerac-Zanetti, Aude 18 November 2011 (has links)
By passing the Act of Supremacy in 1534, Parliament enshrined the break with Rome and theroyal supremacy into the law of the land. The religious reforms which ensued and their impact on the English have already been examined, but the liturgical consequences of the schism and the king’s headship of the Church have not. Yet, the regime immediately required that the liturgy be rid of all mention of the pope and his authority while harnessing public prayer to promote the royal supremacy. Studying the liturgical books in use in the period affords the historian unprecedented access to the religious practices and beliefs in English parishes. Many priests had adapted the liturgy to the royal supremacy which this thesis argues had become a functional dogma of the Henrician church. The European Reformation movement of the mid-16th century is itself deeply concerned with the place of liturgical rituals in Christian life. Under Henry, the meaning and efficacy of the sacramentals was challenged. The liturgy of these ceremonies was no longer considered as a trustworthy deposit of the faith, and sacramental practice, which was no longer thought of as an essential means of s! alvation, became a battle ground between evangelicals and conservatives. The numerous liturgical experiments, both statebacked and initiated locally, in conjunction with the challenge to the traditionnal understanding of the liturgy, contribute to our understanding of how England gradually became a Protestant nation.

"Hodinky církevní." České překlady z Římského breviáře 1800-1971 / Partial Czech translations of the Roman Breviary 1800-1974

PAVLÍK, Jakub January 2019 (has links)
The thesis examines Czech translations from the Roman Breviary created in the period between 1800 and the liturgical reform of the Second Vatican Council. Catalogue of such translations has been prepared. Based on the catalogue, the most important text families are identified and described in detail. It turns out that most of the translations were created for purposes of publicly celebrated Vespers, chanted in the vernacular. Based on historical experience with this pre-conciliar paraliturgical form, a few final suggestions are made for public celebration of the Liturgy of the Hours today.

'Confessing their faith' : an enquiry into the meaning which Anglicans confirmed as adults give to their confirmation and the place which confirmation has in their faith journey

Savage, Ian David, iandsavage@yahoo.com January 2004 (has links)
The purpose of this research was to discover what meaning adult candidates for Anglican confirmation gave to their confirmation, how they experienced the ritual and what place confirmation had in their continuing faith journey. The research report retells the stories of eight adults. The stories of four are presented as case studies. The baptism/ confirmation stories of all research participants are presented as metaphors, a form of 'systematic thematic analysis' (Plummer 1983). For the study I adopted a life history, case study approach (Jones 1983; Plummer 1983; Minichiello et al. 1995) drawing on the insights of ritual theory (Turner 1969, 1972, 1976) and the concept of transitional phenomena proposed by Winnicott (1965, 1971). Two sets of contextual factors formed the background to the study: the Church's tradition and its debates about confirmation and the attitudes of lay people about their faith and about the Church. The research method involved a grounded theory approach. The principal data creation techniques were in-depth interview and the Faith Autobiography pro forma. Following the initial interviews, each research participant was sent a summary of the research findings (Summary of themes). The Summary gave the metaphors which emerged from the interviews, together with brief notes on the concepts used to interpret the data. Responses from the research participants were incorporated into the final form of the metaphors: Belonging to myself, Returning/ Starting over, Growing up, Joining the family and Making a commitment. Most research participants did not regard baptism/confirmation as joining the Church: rather they saw themselves as belonging to the Church already; neither were they concerned with becoming Anglicans. For the majority, the transition they made in baptism/confirmation paralleled another life transition which was taking place or was expected to take place. Taking part in the research helped form the participants ideas about baptism/confirmation. While the catechumenal process is able to provide a holding environment in which candidates for baptism/confirmation can explore the transitions in which they are involved, the initiation liturgy should reflect the return motif which emphasises incorporation as well as the traditional Exodus motif which emphasises separation.

Die rol van musiek as heelbrein-strategie by innerlike verandering : 'n prakties-teologiese studie / Johny Robert Elyon

Elyon, Johny Robert January 2008 (has links)
In the past, pastoral-therapeutic support was mainly approached only from the functioning of the left hemisphere of the brain. This implies that pastoral therapists mainly interacted with people in therapy at an intellectual-analytical level under modernistic influence. Since man's destitution and need changes along with time, it is essential for pastoral therapists/counsellors to supplement and adapt their modus operandi and strategies if they wish to remain relevant regarding their pastoral dealings with people. In this study the researcher attempted to formulate from the Scriptures a basis theory regarding the role of music as a whole-brain strategy in inner change. For the sake of a more holistic approach, a meta-theoretical investigation was also undertaken. To confirm the basis and meta-theoretical information, researcher entered the living reality of seven individuals during which a qualitative research was done. The results of the study, according to which the basis and meta-theoretical perspectives were placed in hermeneutical relation to one another, led to practice-theoretical guidelines within the subject domain of Practical Theology regarding the role of music as a whole-brain strategy in inner change. / Thesis (Ph.D. (Pastoral))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2008.
