Kemplin, Carolyn Ann 08 1900 (has links)
This study of the history of the Granbury Opera House in Granbury, Texas, includes three divisions. The first division is the compilation of the early history of the Opera House, 1886 to 1911. The second division is the renovation of the Granbury Opera House, 1970 to 1975. The final division treats the production methods of the Granbury Opera House Stock Company, including choice of seasons and personnel involved. This study was drawn from newspaper clippings, histories, memoirs of the period, a traveling Shakespearean actor's diary of the period, Granbury's application for a Texas historical marker, interviews, releases, and theatre annual reports. A projection into the future is offered as a conclusion of the study,

Wagner's Das Liebesverbot

Behne, Danna 05 1900 (has links)
Wagner's second opera Das Liebesverbot, composed in 1835 and first performed in Magdeburg in 1836, could be termed Wagner's "Italian" opera. It represents Wagner's attitudes and feelings at the time of its composition. During this period in Wagner's life the composer had become particularly enchanted with Italian music and also with the Italian way of sensuous and carefree living. At the same time his disillusionment with German conservatism and pedantry also had an influence on the composition of this opera.

Elisabeth Olin : The First Swedish Opera Star

Hellström, Elisabeth January 2023 (has links)
The Swedish singer Elisabeth Olin was the first star of Swedish opera, but very little is known about her today. The theoretical part of this study gives a historical background to her life and the music that she performed, music that is rarely performed today. Further, this study discusses the subject of Historically Informed Performance Practice (HIP) and the most common arguments for and against it, with examples connected to the repertoire in focus. The results of the study show that although HIP does not give clear answers or solutions, it offers tools for interpretation and performance, which help the musician to make artistic choices. The artistic part of this study is a performance about Olin based on music that she performed. The object of the artistic part is to present Olin and the music of her time, particularly the music of Gustavian opera, to a modern audience. / <p>G. B. En klingande Vinyasa : En studie om yogans direkta effekt på sångrösten

Fribyter, Saga January 2024 (has links)
This work examines the direct effect of yoga on the singing voice. Is it possible to notice a difference in the voice right after a yoga session? I put together a method to test this by singing right before and right after practicing yoga and thoroughly documenting this in writing and by recording. I was amazed by the difference that could be noticed in my voice after yoga. Not only did it help to release tension but I also consistently experienced more freedom and better high notes after my workouts. During this study I became more certain of how important my yoga practice is going to be for my career.

Nära inpå och långtifrån : En undersökning om sceniskt uttryck från olika perspektiv

Granado Persson, Clarice January 2024 (has links)
This work examines the laboration of an opera scene performed from three different perspectives and distances. With my own experience of learning acting from two different schools I have in this project developed a method through observing the different feelings and experiences when acting for three different viewpoints. One being as close as a movie camera would be, the second resembling a smaller hall and the third resembling a bigger theater. The purpose and hope for this project would be to connect the similarities and differences in each take and work toward creating honest acting in every form and size one might be asked to perform. Not only did I observe the different impulses and instincts created in me within each take but I also discovered that this could become a method I will use in the future as it brought me closer to my character by going from ”small” to big” in a methodical way.
