Audit risks in a database environment with specific reference to Oracle7

Wiid, Liné Cornette 13 February 2014 (has links)
M.Com. (Computer Auditing) / The objective of an independent audit of financial statements is to express an opinion on the fair presentation of the financial statements. The auditor should obtain sufficient audit evidence to enable him to draw conclusions to support the content of his report. The auditor should obtain an understanding of the entity's accounting system and related internal controls to assess their adequacy as a basis for the preparation of financial information and to assist in the designing of his audit procedures. If the auditor intends to rely on any internal controls, he should study and evaluate those controls. If a database system is used, it is logical that all the financial data reside in the database. In order for an auditor to express an opinion on the financial statements, he has to determine to what extent he can rely on the integrity of the financial data that resides in the database. The objective of this research was to identify the risks and controls present in a general database environment as well as those present in the Oracle? database management system environment, to develop a comparison table between these environments and to develop an Oracle? internal control questionnaire.

VLIV MODELU / The impact of

Závodný, Michal January 2008 (has links)
Nowadays the new delivery model „software as a service“ is becoming an important IT application delivery model. Graduation theses has the objective to give an overview of available information about this new service, reasons for its origination and at the same time it reflects the effect of IT application delivery model on business processes and relation supplier – customer. Forceful changes in human society within recent thirty years have changed and influenced entrepreneurial environment and have caused changes in IS/ICT environment. Precipitance of changes makes it more complicated to define software as a service quite exactly. That is why the theses describes basic properties of the model and gives the definition of its characteristics. Important objective is the comparison of traditional and new delivery model, too. Practical part of graduation theses carries out research of CRM system offer, supplied by traditional suppliers in model „software as a service“ and compares it with offer of companies supplying exclusively in software as a service model, concretely Salesforce.com. This part of research was carried out with help of interviews with Microsoft, Oracle, SAP and Salesforce employees. Next part of research gives a view and understanding of software as a service model by important IT service suppliers in Czech Republic – companies Ness and Hewlett Packard. The only one Czech supplier of software as a service model in research is the company Elanor Global, s.r.o. In customer part of research the TietoEnator reasons for switching to this model are described. A summary of reasons for model adoption based on world research works is given, too.

Migrace databáze do prostředí Oracle Exadata / Database migration to environment Oracle Exadata

Starý, Jan January 2013 (has links)
This thesis concerns the question of data migration and specifically data migration into the Oracle Exadata database environment. A characteristic project of data migration has been designed which is then specified in a form of a data migration operating guideline creation. Suggested process is then tested on a real database migration. A part of this work is also a detailed description of the Oracle Exadata technological solution including an evaluation of its benefits and limitations in a practical usage. Information and feedbacks necessary to accomplish these goals were gained by interviewing specialists on different positions throughout the organisation that have a real experience with the system. This work can also serve as a valuable source of information for projects dealing with data migration, mainly data migration in the Oracle Exadata environment. As a matter of fact, potential future users can find this work very helpful when considering a purchase of the Oracle Exadata system package.

Regularized multivariate stochastic regression

Chen, Kun 01 July 2011 (has links)
In many high dimensional problems, the dependence structure among the variables can be quite complex. An appropriate use of the regularization techniques coupled with other classical statistical methods can often improve estimation and prediction accuracy and facilitate model interpretation, by seeking a parsimonious model representation that involves only the subset of revelent variables. We propose two regularized stochastic regression approaches, for efficiently estimating certain sparse dependence structure in the data. We first consider a multivariate regression setting, in which the large number of responses and predictors may be associated through only a few channels/pathways and each of these associations may only involve a few responses and predictors. We propose a regularized reduced-rank regression approach, in which the model estimation and rank determination are conducted simultaneously and the resulting regularized estimator of the coefficient matrix admits a sparse singular value decomposition (SVD). Secondly, we consider model selection of subset autoregressive moving-average (ARMA) modelling, for which automatic selection methods do not directly apply because the innovation process is latent. We propose to identify the optimal subset ARMA model by fitting a penalized regression, e.g. adaptive Lasso, of the time series on its lags and the lags of the residuals from a long autoregression fitted to the time-series data, where the residuals serve as proxies for the innovations. Computation algorithms and regularization parameter selection methods for both proposed approaches are developed, and their properties are explored both theoretically and by simulation. Under mild regularity conditions, the proposed methods are shown to be selection consistent, asymptotically normal and enjoy the oracle properties. We apply the proposed approaches to several applications across disciplines including cancer genetics, ecology and macroeconomics.

Návrh frameworku pro automatické testování webových stránek / Framework design for automated testing of web sites

Sieber, Lukáš January 2014 (has links)
This master's thesis is based on automated web applications testing with freeware instrument utilization developed under Google code project. It is called Selenium webdriver and become very popular during last years. Selenium webdriver is frequently used for web pages automation. Indisputable advantages of this solution are low entry cost, selenium is broadly used and also live community around that instrument with many useful informations. Main goal of this thesis is creation of automation framework created by Java programming language. This final framework will integrate Selenium webdriver and guarantee easy creation of testing scenarios. Because of this goal is placed mainly on separation of web page programmatic description and description of testing scenario.

Magical Texts in Trismegistos: Ammianus Marcellinus on Oracles in Roman Egypt – or: what Impact had Christianity on Pagan Egyptian Divination?

Naether, Franziska 15 May 2019 (has links)
Darunter fällt u.a. die seit 11. n. Chr. verbotene Frage nach dem Todeszeitpunkt des Kaisers. Diese Aussage soll anhand der vorhandenen Orakelfragen aus Ägypten überprüft und das in der Datenbank vorhandene Quellenmaterial zu Religion, Ritualtexten, Magie und Divination / Mantik vorgestellt werden. Besondere Berücksichtigung erfährt hierbei die Frage, ob genuin pagane Rituale in frühchristlicher Zeit statistisch gesehen eine Wandlung erfahren.

Constraint Programming for Random Testing of a Trading System

Castañeda Lozano, Roberto January 2010 (has links)
Financial markets use complex computer trading systems whose failures can cause serious economic damage, making reliability a major concern. Automated random testing has been shown to be useful in finding defects in these systems, but its inherent test oracle problem (automatic generation of the expected system output) is a drawback that has typically prevented its application on a larger scale. Two main tasks have been carried out in this thesis as a solution to the test oracle problem. First, an independent model of a real trading system based on constraint programming, a method for solving combinatorial problems, has been created. Then, the model has been integrated as a true test oracle in automated random tests. The test oracle maintains the expected state of an order book throughout a sequence of random trade order actions, and provides the expected output of every auction triggered in the order book by generating a corresponding constraint program that is solved with the aid of a constraint programming system. Constraint programming has allowed the development of an inexpensive, yet reliable test oracle. In 500 random test cases, the test oracle has detected two system failures. These failures correspond to defects that had been present for several years without being discovered neither by less complete oracles nor by the application of more systematic testing approaches. The main contributions of this thesis are: (1) empirical evidence of both the suitability of applying constraint programming to solve the test oracle problem and the effectiveness of true test oracles in random testing, and (2) a first attempt, as far as the author is aware, to model a non-theoretical continuous double auction using constraint programming. / Winner of the Swedish AI Society's prize for the best AI Master's Thesis 2010.

Simulation and emulation of massively parallel processor for solving constraint satisfaction problems based on oracles

Chaudhari, Gunavant Dinkar 01 January 2011 (has links)
Most part of my thesis is devoted to efficient automated logic synthesis of oracle processors. These Oracle Processors are of interest to several modern technologies, including Scheduling and Allocation, Image Processing and Robot Vision, Computer Aided Design, Games and Puzzles, and Cellular Automata, but so far the most important practical application is to build logic circuits to solve various practical Constraint Satisfaction Problems in Intelligent Robotics. For instance, robot path planning can be reduced to Satisfiability. In short, an oracle is a circuit that has some proposition of solution on the inputs and answers yes/no to this proposition. In other language, it is a predicate or a concept-checking machine. Oracles have many applications in AI and theoretical computer science but so far they were not used much in hardware architectures. Systematic logic synthesis methodologies for oracle circuits were so far not a subject of a special research. It is not known how big advantages these processors will bring when compared to parallel processing with CUDA/GPU processors, or standard PC processing. My interest in this thesis is only in architectural and logic synthesis aspects and not in physical (technological) design aspects of these circuits. In future, these circuits will be realized using reversible, nano and some new technologies, but the interest in this thesis is not in the future realization technologies. We want just to answer the following question: Is there any speed advantage of the new oracle-based architectures, when compared with standard serial or parallel processors?

Grafická nadstavba pro systém získávání znalostí / Graphical Layer for a Data Mining System

Gálet, Michal Unknown Date (has links)
The issue of this MSc. project is a design and implementation of a graphical user interface for a data mining system. The application is a front-end for an existing data mining library and allows the user to visually define the data mining process using a graphical editor and a component palette. The solution is built on a NetBeans Rich Client Platform and takes many benefits from using rich components available in this platform. The user may define his work in the projects, edit and persist DMSL documents, run the mining tasks and view the mining results.  The system is designed to emphasize the modularity and extensibility of the solution.
