The study covers the relationship of certain subjects with clothing, trying to understand how the use of certain pieces can create interesting n arratives against hegemonic. Thus, we aim to think about how, through clothing, certain groups are able to trigger singularities front of investees of capitalistic machine, creating new ways of existence. Among the subjects and their clothes that provoked discussions raised in this paper, we highlight the men and women who perform as drag queens and fat women using clothing hat are generally prohibited for them, as too tight or short pieces. The narratives about these subjects will be stitched by the readings we did, as well as images taken from books, movies, the streets of the city.

The purpose of this thesis is to present several results on the restoration of uniqueness and selection of equilibria when uniqueness fails in mean field games. The theory of mean field games was initiated in the 2000s by two groups of researchers, Lasry and Lions in France, and Huang, Caines, and Malhamé in Canada. The aim of this theory is to describe the Nash equilibria in stochastic differential games involving a large number of players interacting with each other through their common empirical measure, under sufficient symmetry hypothesis. If the existence of equilibria in mean field games is now well understood, uniqueness remains known in a very limited number of cases. In this respect, the most well-known condition is the monotony hypothesis, due to Lasry and Lions. In this thesis, we demonstrate that for a certain class of mean field games, uniqueness can be restored by means of a random and common forcing, acting on all the players. Such a forcing is called “common noise”. We also show that in some cases it is possible to select equilibria in the absence of common noise by letting the common noise tend towards zero. Finally, we show how these results apply to “principal-agent” .problems, with a large number of interacting agents.

The Logic Behind Business Incubation for Creative and Technology-Based Startups : A Study of the Support Provided By Business Incubators to Startups With Different Business LogicsCassel, Josefine, Anna, Fredriksson January 2021 (has links)
Small businesses are an important part of innovation, competitiveness and economic development. Support systems such as business incubators have emerged with the purpose of helping these startups develop. The startups which are in focus in this thesis operate in different industries, in technology-based industries where commercialization and growth is in focus, to creative industries which focus on developing individual talent and creativity. The characteristics and core of the businesses differ, giving them different business logics by which the startups operate. The business logic leads the startups to face different challenges, which the thesis considers to regard liabilities of smallness, liabilities of newness and liabilities of uniqueness as well as organizing. These variations give the startups differences in how they operate and hence, also a need for different types of support given by business incubators. Business incubator support is in the thesis categorized into three components of Networks, Infrastructure and Business Services, as suggested in a triad model of Carvalho & Galina (2015). As varying business logics makes a difference on what type of value startups produce, it is important to study the relationship between these logics and the support provided by an incubator. It is important in order to understand how incubators can adapt their support more effectively to help entrepreneurs overcome their challenges. The thesis purpose is to broaden the understanding of how business logics and challenges of startups adhere to the industry they are in, and how the support given by business incubators can help the businesses to overcome challenges associated with these business logics. The research design was qualitative, and data was collected by performing six semi-structured interviews with entrepreneurs within creative and technology-based industries, enrolled at business incubators with these specializations. The study results in a proposed model, giving extension to the original triad model by Carvalho & Galina (2015). In the proposed model, new dimensions of the support system as well as the nature of the startups’ business logics, and challenges are addressed. The proposed model and the study’s results may act as a guiding framework for future research in the field, aiming to gain a better understanding of the reality of startups with different business logics.

A qualitative study on professionals’ perception of unaccompanied minors’ uniqueness and its impact on drug preventionHoffren, Amelie January 2023 (has links)
This thesis explores how professionals working with unaccompanied minors (UM) perceive the uniqueness of this group in relation to substance use and prevention. Findings from the study suggest that professionals’ perceptions of UM’s uniqueness could be divided into five themes: financial situation; age; contact persons and authorities; prolonged waits at the migration agency; and access to health care. Drug use among UM was either perceived to be a result of the difficult experiences they have lived through or something that only certain (deviant) youth engage in. How professionals perceived the vulnerability and oppression of UM correlated with the attempts and efforts they made in providing preventative work against drugs. In terms of treatment, it was perceived as UM either got into treatment more easily compared to others, or that they faced various barriers. It is suggested that the additional barriers may be increasingly more evident after the UM’s 18th birthday.

SOCIAL INFLUENCE IN COLLECTIVE GOALS AND BRAND PREFERENCESKim, Yaeeun, 0000-0003-1827-9620 January 2020 (has links)
This three-essay dissertation extends previous research on social influence and examines social influence’s impact on consumption, particularly in the contexts of collective goals and brand preferences. Essay 1 focuses on collective marketing campaigns, which are not shared equally by all customers. Two studies demonstrate that the framing of collective progress in such campaigns can broaden participation by highlighting the large area of progress toward the goal, emphasizing progress achieved for campaigns in their late stages and progress remaining in their early stages. Essay 2 examines the effects of brand age on consumer preferences and choices. Six studies demonstrate that consumers’ preferences for younger brands increase with perceptions of product category innovativeness or the extent to which the product category is perceived to have evolved and is likely to evolve in the future. Findings reveal that younger (vs. established) brands are likely to be preferred when perceptions of product category innovativeness are high (vs. low). Essay 3 examines the effects of perceptions of product category innovativeness and consumer traits, such as novelty seeking and need for uniqueness, on consumers’ preference for young versus established brands. This dissertation provides theoretical and managerial contributions. / Business Administration/Marketing

Theory and Application of a Class of Abstract Differential-Algebraic EquationsPierson, Mark A. 29 April 2005 (has links)
We first provide a detailed background of a geometric projection methodology developed by Professor Roswitha Marz at Humboldt University in Berlin for showing uniqueness and existence of solutions for ordinary differential-algebraic equations (DAEs). Because of the geometric and operator-theoretic aspects of this particular method, it can be extended to the case of infinite-dimensional abstract DAEs. For example, partial differential equations (PDEs) are often formulated as abstract Cauchy or evolution problems which we label abstract ordinary differential equations or AODE. Using this abstract formulation, existence and uniqueness of the Cauchy problem has been studied. Similarly, we look at an AODE system with operator constraint equations to formulate an abstract differential-algebraic equation or ADAE problem. Existence and uniqueness of solutions is shown under certain conditions on the operators for both index-1 and index-2 abstract DAEs. These existence and uniqueness results are then applied to some index-1 DAEs in the area of thermodynamic modeling of a chemical vapor deposition reactor and to a structural dynamics problem. The application for the structural dynamics problem, in particular, provides a detailed construction of the model and development of the DAE framework. Existence and uniqueness are primarily demonstrated using a semigroup approach. Finally, an exploration of some issues which arise from discretizing the abstract DAE are discussed. / Ph. D.
