[pt] A presente dissertação busca aprimorar o aproveitamento da frota de cabotagem de petróleo e derivados da Petrobras a partir de um novo modelo de custos e de uma ferramenta operacional de decisão de abastecimento das embarcações. Dada a indisponibilidade de estrutura para abastecer em 59 dos 73 pontos operacionais do país, é usual a necessidade de desviar as embarcações da rota de transporte para abastecer. Até o momento, a decisão de onde abastecer os navios da frota não era apoiada por nenhuma ferramenta e havia pouca transparência a respeito dos custos incidentes para os tomadores de decisão. O trabalho consiste em uma pesquisa ação conduzida no contexto de prática das áreas de programação e operação de navios da empresa. A análise inclui uma modelagem de custos, desdobrada em um produto tecnológico englobando um simulador e uma ferramenta de apoio à decisão de quanto e onde abastecer. A dissertação também traz uma proposta de fluxo de decisão padronizado, que aplicado nas rotas realizadas de 2017 demonstra um potencial de economia de 14,8 milhões de reais no ano, sem necessidade de investimentos. Foram analisadas 6.318 escalas de 114 embarcações para a verificação de aderência do fluxo proposto. Apesar da proposta indicar um número maior de operações e maior volume total de abastecimento, a redução de custos é verificada pela eliminação de escalas exclusivas para abastecer. Caso se opte por habilitar o porto de Suape para abastecimentos de navios, é possível estender as economias a pelo menos 4 milhões de reais anuais adicionais. / [en] The main goal of this dissertation is to improve the usage of Petrobras crude oil and oil products short sea fleet through a new cost model and an operation decision tool regarding its refueling activities. Currently, it is common practice to deviate the ships from their transportation route to refuel, given the lack of refueling structure in 59 of the 73 ports and platforms in which the short sea fleet operates. Until this moment, the refueling decision wasn t supported by any tool and there was little transparency regarding the cost impact to the decision makers. This action research is conducted within the context of practice of the ship operations and ship scheduling areas. This works contributions include a refueling cost model, that is later unfolded in a technological product that includes a Decision Support Tool that helps to decide when and which Fuel Oil quantity to refuel. The dissertation also designs a standardized decision flow, that results in a 14,8 million Reais yearly saving potential when applied to the 2017 routes, no investment needed. To verify the adhesion of the proposed flow, 6.318 port calls made by 114 vessels were analysed. Despite the larger number of refueling operations and total fuel quantity proposed, the cost reduction is verified due to the elimination of the port calls made exclusively for refueling. If the option is made to enable refueling activity in the port of Suape, it is possible to further increase the yearly savings in at least 4 million Reais.

Orientador: Bárbara Stolte Bezerra / Banca: Luzenira Alves Brasileiro / Banca: Ilza Machado Kaiser / Resumo: O sistema de eclusas da hidrovia Tietê-Paraná possibilita que embarcações vençam os desníveis formados pelas barragens das usinas hidrelétricas, construídas com finalidade de uso múltiplo das águas, o que viabiliza o transporte de passageiros e mercadorias, integrando a hidrovia a um importante corredor de transporte do estado de São Paulo. Este trabalho tem como objetivo identificar as principais variáveis que impactam a eficiência do processo de eclusagem e analisar seus efeitos no desempenho da navegação. As variáveis selecionadas foram utilizadas no estudo de casa nas eclusas de Barra Bonita, Bariri, Ibitinga, Promissão e NOva Avanhandava, anexas às usinas hidrelétricas de mesmo nome, para verificar, por meio de aplicação de questionário, observação e análise documental, a influência dessas variáveis no desempenho da navegação. As eclusas funcionam 24 horas por dia durante o ano todo, tendo suas operações interrompidas a cada dois anos, por um período de até 30 dias, para manutenção preventiva nos equipamentos do sistema de transposição. Essa prática tem sido muito importante para que as eclusas tenham, historicamente, alcançado índices médios de disponibilidade anual de 99%, contribuindo significativamente para a atratividade do modal. A demanda pela hidrovia, fator que contibui para a busca do equilíbrio da matriz de transportes do país, tem gerado formação de filas de embarcações em eclusas em alguns períodos do dia, fato ocorrido com frequência até o mês de maio de 2014. Após essa data, houve diminuição do fluxo de embarcações nas eclusas avaliadas devido à interrupção da navegação entre os rios Paraná e Tietê, em decorrência do baixo nível de água no reservatório da usina hidrelétrica Três Irmãos, porém permanece, nesse trecho, o transporte de cana-de-açúcar, areia e passageiros. The aim of this study is to identify the key variables that influence the operations of locking process and analyze their effects on the performance of shipping. The selected variables were used in the case study at the Barra Bonita, Bariri, Ibitinga, Promissão and Nova Avanhandava's locks, attached to the hydroelectric power plants at same name, to verify through a questionnaire, observation and document analysis, the influence of these variables on the overall performance of navigation. The locks operate 24 hours a day throughout the year and have their operations interrupted every two years, for a period of 30 days to perform preventive maintenance on the equipments. This practice has been very important for locks, historically, reaching average levels of availability of 99% per year, contributing to modal attractiveness. This paper explores the historical and contemporary situation of waterways in Los Angeles. It examines the birth and growth of metropolitan LA and contrasts this narrative with the current and pressing issues of drought and gentrification. This contrast raises the question of the sustainability of human growth in resource-scarce regions. From this analysis it forwards a nuanced perspective of the hypothesis that the dynamics of environmental degradation in the LA region threaten human growth. It suggests that this degradation comes as a result of egocentric human development projects by the elite. This paper examines all of this through the lens of a creative body of work. The body of work consists of a series of four large paintings. It discusses the artist’s inspiration and process of creation, as well as the influence of neo-expressionism and various contemporary artists on the work. It concludes with a consideration of where to go next with the series of paintings in order to address the issue of environmental degradation further.

This study deals with runic carvings as a monument. Through map studies I try to locate runic carvings near water and other remains from the viking age. Previous research has put their focus on the inscription and not as much on the monument itself. The monument stands there in the landscape and communicates with its own appearance. During the Viking Age, communication by waterways was important as the roads on land were not the best. The starting point for this study was a waterway from the Baltic Sea to Mälaren through Södermanland county in Sweden. This waterway consists of several lakes and smaller streams. This study is an attempt to investigate and discuss the possible role of runic carvings along Viking Age water communication routes.

Creation of the Data Analysis Tool for Ship Simulation (DATSS)

A virtual harbor containing validated numerical currents, bathymetric data, and realistic vessel response allows pilots with local knowledge to test channel modifications in a no-risk environment. Current analyzes rely heavily on subject matter experts (pilots) to inform recommendations and does not analyze data output from the ship simulator. The Data Analysis Tool for Ship Simulation (DATSS) allows the user to process raw data from the ship simulator, generate summary information, compare simulations directly, and produce figures by using a rapid, semi-standardized method. This study features a case study of Mobile Harbor which presents three different possible applications of the DATSS: grounding analysis, identifying simulator errors, and supporting sponsors requests. Through the DATSS, data becomes accessible, safety is improved, conclusions are fortified, and manpower is reduced.
