[en] COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS BETWEEN THE MAXIMIZATION OF VOLTAGE STABILITY MARGIN AND LOSS REDUCTION IN DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS / [pt] ANÁLISE COMPARATIVA ENTRE A MAXIMIZAÇÃO DA MARGEM DE POTÊNCIA E MINIMIZAÇÃO DAS PERDAS TÉCNICAS EM SISTEMAS DE DISTRIBUIÇÃO DE ENERGIA ELÉTRICAGIAN PAULO RAMALHO DE DEUS 29 November 2007 (has links)
sistema, reduzir as perdas técnicas e tornar a distribuição
O uso do algoritmo
minimizando as perdas técnicas.
[en] The increase of the consumption of electric energy takes
the distribution systems to operate next to its limits,
which might cause situation of maximum active and reactive
power flow in the branches, that is, problems of voltage
stability. The change of the topology of the network allows
to find a configuration where de voltage stability indexes
are far from de maximum loading point, improve voltage
profile, reduce power losses and load balancing. However,
the number of possible switching grows with the dimension of
network and searching for optimal solution requires high
computational effort. Using Tabu Search heuristics allows
guiding the search for new configuration of high quality,
being storing its characteristics and forbidding the
addition and/or removal of attributes for a period,
avoiding that the search finishes in a local minimum
(maximum) value. The results in different loading levels,
that represent the operation of radial distribution system
with normal, weighed and critical load, show that the Tabu
Search algorithm maximizes the voltage stability margin,
leading the original operation point to a new one that is
far from the maximum loading point, in the normal region of
operation. With this, it is prevented that the system
operates next to the maximum loading point or, in the worse
case, in the abnormal region of operation, where the
actions of control have opposing effect to the waited one.

[en] CONTINGENCY SCREENING AND RANKING FOR VOLTAGE SECURITY ASSESSMENT / [pt] SELEÇÃO E ORDENAÇÃO DE CONTINGÊNCIAS PARA AVALIAÇÃO DAS CONDIÇÕES DE SEGURANÇA DE TENSÃORICARDO DRUMOND DE MOURA 20 May 2003 (has links)
Portanto,
[en] Although the use of compensation of reactive power allows a
higher loading in the electric system, it leads it to work
closer to voltage collapse situations. Therefore it`s
necessary to assess the behavior of the system regarding to
this phenomena in the occurrence of the contingencies. In
this work some existing methods are studied to check the
capacity of ranking the contingencies that might affect the
system, and how these methods rank them by severity and
select those which are more damaging. The methods are
studied having as the main focus the real-time operation.
This work proposes a method which is able to rank and
select a list of probable contingencies, having as a basis,
nodal indexes of voltage security conditions assessment.
These indexes are based on MVA margin to the maximum
loading, indicate the region of operation on V x P,Q curve,
and the relative importance among buses. The sensitivity
index which indicates the reduction of the power margin
before a contingency, is studied in detail. Besides the
nodal analysis, it is proposed a form of a systemic
analysis which is able to rank and select the contingencies
according to their influence upon all electrical system.
Numerical results corresponding to the North-Northeast
Brazilian Interconected power system, with maximum load of
June 1992 are presented. The analysis of computational
efficiency of the proposed method showed that it`s
possible to be used in real-time operation connected to the
voltage assessment security tool, through a common
structure of data to both procedures.

[en] STATIC AND DYNAMIC SIMULATION OF VOLTAGE CONTROL BY GENERATOR AND SYNCHRONOUS COMPENSATOR / [pt] SIMULAÇÃO ESTÁTICA E DINÂMICA DO CONTROLE DE TENSÃO POR GERADOR E COMPENSADOR SÍNCRONOARMANDO GONCALVES LEITE 17 October 2008 (has links)
e a tensão controlada. Nessas situações, a
controle automático continuaria agindo, abaixando ainda
mais a tensão. Este mecanismo pode levar o sistema ao
colapso.
no domínio do tempo.
[en] The aim of this work is to investigate, in steady state and
dynamic performance, the phenomenon of the opposite
relationship, already observed at real operation conditions
of the Brazilian Electric System, between generators and
synchronous compensators excitation voltage and the
controlled one. In these situations, the generator /
synchronous compensator nominal capacity, for example,
would not be useful to keep the voltage controlled. Due the
opposite relationship, an increase in the excitation
voltage would reduce the controlled voltage. The automatic
control would keep acting and reducing more the voltage.
This mechanism can lead the system to the collapse. The
study of this problem was based in the generator /
compensator behavior as a control voltage device, in steady-
state and dynamic performance, front of several operation
situations of electric power system, like reference voltage
(controlled voltage) variation and load changing. The
steady state analysis used a load flow algorithm, while the
time domain simulation was utilized for the dynamic
performance analysis. The real existence of the phenomenon
was verified through these analyses, emphasizing the
operation region changing in some of them. In other cases,
the analyses results in the steady-state were different of
the dynamic performance results.

[en] STATIC AND DYNAMIC SIMULATION FOR THE VOLTAGE CONTROL BY LTC AND STATIC VOLTAGE COMPENSATOR / [pt] SIMULAÇÃO ESTÁTICA E DINÂMICA DO CONTROLE DE TENSÃO POR LTC E COMPENSADOR ESTÁTICOBRUNO DO CARMO PONTES 12 February 2009 (has links)
domínio do tempo.
[en] This work presents the observation and analysis, in steady
state and dynamic performance, of the phenomenon already
observed in real operation conditions of the
Brazilian Electric System, which is the opposite
relationship between the controlled value
and the target value. In this case, even if the resources
have margin to keep the voltage controlled, this is not
useful. For example, the reduction in the turn ratio on
load tap changer transformer, with the aim of increase in
the controlled voltage, result in its reduction, until the
tap changer limit is reached or the system is led to the
collapse. To demonstrate the existence of this problem,
steady state and dynamic performance simulations were done,
and the voltage control effect by on load tap changer
transformer and static var compensator , current situations
in a power system. Several situations where is possible
verify the operation region changing was demonstrated. For
steady state analysis was used a load flow algorithm and,
for the dynamic analysis, a time domain simulation. In the
simulations with on load tap changer transformer, it was
possible to verify the existence of the reverse effect of
the voltage control action in the static and dynamic
analysis. In the simulations using static var compensator, a
divergence was found between the results in the two
analyses.

[en] VOLTAGE STABILITY ASSESSMENT CONSIDERING PRIMARY FREQUENCY CONTROL AND FREQUENCY-DEPENDENT LINE PARAMETERS / [pt] AVALIAÇÃO DAS CONDIÇÕES DE ESTABILIDADE DE TENSÃO CONSIDERANDO A REGULAÇÃO PRIMÁRIA E PARÂMETROS DA REDE VARIÁVEIS COM A FREQUÊNCIADIANA MARGARITA GARCIA MARTINEZ 05 January 2016 (has links)
[en] The growing demand for electricity increases the complexity of electric
power systems which, when combined with limitations in the expansion of
transmission systems, results in the operation of electrical systems closer to their
limits, making them vulnerable to voltage stability problems. In this context, there
is a gap in the market for the development of computational tools that can
represent the electrical systems more appropriately, thereby improving the
conditions of analysis. The present study formulates three non-classical load flow
representations: multiple swing buses, primary frequency control, and frequency
dependent transmission network parameters. Once used in the load flow problem
solving, these models are also extended to allow the calculation of voltage
stability indices of load buses, controlled voltage buses and swing buses.
Numerical tests with a 6-bus test system are presented to verify the applicability
and adequacy of the proposed models.

[en] AN IMPROVED STEADY-STATE MODEL FOR TAP-CHANGING TRANSFORMER / [pt] NOVO MODELO DE TRANSFORMADOR COM TAP VARIÁVEL EM REGIME PERMANENTECARLOS APARECIDO FERREIRA 25 June 2013 (has links)
modelo leva a resultados qualitativamente errados.
[en] The voltage stability phenomenon is of interest since it began to be
observed in real systems in the late seventies. It happens due to excessive loading
of transmission lines. The modeling of tap-changing transformers is fundamental
in voltage stability analysis, in terms of the information provided to the operator
about voltage stability margins and the effects of voltage control actions. The
model for tap-changing transformers currently in widespread use consists of an
impedance, measured in a short-circuit test with a nominal tap, in series with an
ideal transformer. The use of this model in voltage stability studies leads to
qualitatively incorrect results, as shown in this thesis. For demonstration purpose
a small circuit and the concepts of maximum load, equivalent load impedance and
voltage control effects are used. An improved model that takes into account
laboratory results, circuit laws and voltage stability theory is proposed. This
model can be used in any steady-state study. It gives results that are not only more
accurate than those obtained with the conventional model, but also, as shown in
this thesis, qualitatively different.

[en] VOLTAGE STABILITY PROBABILISTIC ASSESSMENT IN COMPOSITE GENERATION AND TRANSMISSION SYSTEMS / [pt] ANÁLISE PROBABILÍSTICA DA ESTABILIDADE DE TENSÃO EM SISTEMAS COMPOSTOS DE GERAÇÃO E TRANSMISSÃOANSELMO BARBOSA RODRIGUES 08 January 2010 (has links)
Desta forma, a análise
Geralmente, a
O principal
A identificação
[en] In some countries, the electric power systems are operating near to their limits due to
the absence of investments in the transmission network expansion and natural growth of the
electricity demand. This operation condition can also occur in electric power systems in
which the transmission expansion is carried out in appropriate way. In this case, the excessive
loading of the transmission network is usually originated by the loss of interconnections that
transport large energy blocks. The two operation scenarios described above have caused
Voltage Stability problems in the electric power systems. The voltage instability states are
mainly characterized by the presence of two mechanisms: the unsolvability of the power flow
equations and the controllability loss. The disturbances that originate these two mechanisms
are of stochastic nature. Consequently, the voltage instability indices, used to analyze the
unsolvability and controllability loss, are random variables. In this way, the voltage stability
assessment would recognize the uncertainties associated with the parameters of the electric
network, for example: load fluctuations and equipment availability. Generally, the
uncertainties modeling in the voltage stability is carried out using the following probabilistic
methods: the Monte Carlo Simulation and the State Enumeration. The main index estimated
by these methods is the voltage instability risk. However, the voltage instability risk
evaluation is usually carried out considering only one of the mechanisms that cause voltage
instability scenarios. Furthermore, the severity of the unstable states has not been properly
investigated. The aim of this thesis is to develop a method to carry out a probabilistic
assessment of the voltage stability that take into account the two mechanisms that cause the
voltage instability in the evaluation of its risk. Probabilistic indices, based on Well-Being
Analysis, are also proposed to express the severity of the voltage instability states. The
proposed method is based on the combination of the following techniques: State Enumeration
Method, Monte Carlo Simulation, D’ Matrix Method and Nonlinear Optimal Power Flow.
The State Enumeration and Monte Carlo Simulation Methods are used to select the system
states resulting of equipment failures and load forecast errors. The identification of the
controllability loss and the solvability restoration of the power flow equations for the selected
states are carried out by the D’ Matrix Method and by the Nonlinear Optimal Power Flow,
respectively. The combination of the methods cited above was used to obtain the following
probabilistic indices: voltage instability risk, expected value of the voltage instability margin
for the buses, and Well-Being states probabilities. The results of the tests with the proposed
method revealed that the probabilities of unstable states, associated with the two voltage
instability mechanism, are very significant. Additionally, the Well-Being Analysis was able
to identify the root cause and the severity of the voltage instability problems.

anos.
matemáticos do sistema e
computacionais. Estuda-se neste trabalho a modelagem em
regime permanente, e a
[en] After the incidence of innumerable collapses occurred in
the energy transmission
systems due to the extreme use of the transmission lines,
the voltage stability, or more
adequately, the voltage security became an important issue
in the last years. The correct
representation of loads and voltage control devices is
important in the analysis of voltage
security of the electrical system, due to its increasing
complexity and to the necessity of
more accurate and secure operative actions. The voltage
security assessment is based
on a linear model of the load flow equations, including all
and any control equation, and
the resulting indexes are calculated for a specified
operating point. In off-line studies the
operating point is usually obtained from a load flow
algorithm. It is important that the
system and its components mathematical models, control
devices and limits are
compatible in both computational programs. This work is
concerned with the steady state
modelling and its incorporation into the voltage security
assessment function, of induction
motor type loads and band voltage control by switchable
capacitors. Fundamental
aspects of induction motors and switchable capacitors in
the assessment of voltage
security are presented and discussed. Numerical examples of
voltage stability
assessment indexes are presented to illustrate the
necessity of realistic modelling.

A lista
de contingências inclui a perda de qualquer ramo de transmissão, a perda
de alguns pares de ramos e, de menor importância, a perda de geração. As
[en] In all power systems, including the Brazilian one, it is common to
check the voltage levels in busbars and current in the transmission branches
in presence of contingencies during the real-time operation. The list of
contingencies includes loss of any transmission lines, loss of some pairs of
branches and, less importantly, loss of power generation. Voltage stability
conditions are also checked at that time. This work simulates events in which
there is loss of voltage control due to the exhaustion of the control source
in all voltage-controlled busbars and verifies its effects on voltage stability.
Simulations also include the event which shows loss of capacity to increase
the active power generation in all generators. A ranking method is employed
to order events by their degree of severity over voltage stability. In addition,
the obtained results are used to determine the most influential voltages and
generators over the voltage stability of a specific busbar. In order to increase
the margin of power of this certain busbar, preventive control actions are
calculated by keeping track of variations in voltage and, when necessary, in
active power generations.

[en] RELATION VQ IN THE EVALUATION OF VOLTAGE STABILITY / [pt] RELAÇÃO VQ NA AVALIAÇÃO DA ESTABILIDADE DE TENSÃO15 September 2020 (has links)
E assim,
avaliar e identificar possíveis resultados não coerentes. / [en] The phenomenon of voltage stability is a problem associated with active
and reactive power flow in transmission lines. The best-known manifestation of
the event is the existence of a maximum load that can be supplied by the
grid. Another possibility is the existence of a maximum injection of active and
reactive power provided by generators and compensators. The QV curve
enables the calculation of the Q margin, which corresponds to the distance
between the base case and the curve s inflection point. The Q margin,
supposedly, is an index for evaluating the system stability, consisting of normal
operation when the slope of the curve is positive. The matrix method D also
provides the relation Q and V of each bar evaluating, supposedly, conditions of
system stability. In this dissertation, an analysis of these two indices was
proposed to clarify the assumptions, similarities, and differences between the
two ways of calculating the VQ relation. And so, evaluate and identify possible
non-coherent results.
