[pt] AVALIAÇÃO DAS CONDIÇÕES DE ESTABILIDADE DE TENSÃO CONSIDERANDO A ATUAÇÃO DA REGULAÇÃO PRIMÁRIA E SECUNDÁRIA / [en] EVALUATION OF THE VOLTAGE STABILITY CONDITIONS CONSIDERING THE ACTING OF THE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY FREQUENCY CONTROLMAXWELL ABRAHAN VARGAS CARBAJAL 02 February 2016 (has links)
[en] Each day the operation of electric power system is more complex. Maintain a correct supply of energy empirically is difficult and unreliable task, this work was realized to comply with more reliably this power supply. This dissertation presents the modeling of power flow to get different steady state. The load response to frequency deviation, the primary and the secondary frequency control were models. The models are extended to the evaluation of voltage stability, even considering the frequency influence. The evaluation is done in the state before and after the response of load-frequency control. In each case, the generators units absorb the variation (infinitesimal) in the load or in the generation (bus in analysis) in different ways: according to the proportionality factor in the secondary control, the speed regulations in the primary control or the proportionality of the swing bus generation in the proportional dispatch. According to the presented in this dissertation was obtained a state in permanent regime, in this state was evaluated the voltage stability in all bus of the system. The tested system had 6 and 39 bus.

[en] CRITERIA FOR DETERMINATION OF THE VOLTAGE STABILITY MARGIN FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE OPERATION / [pt] CRITÉRIO PARA DETERMINAÇÃO DA MARGEM DE ESTABILIDADE DE TENSÃO SOB A PERSPECTIVA DA OPERAÇÃOAMANDA ALVARENGA DIAS 12 November 2020 (has links)
[en] Currently, the phenomenon of voltage instability represents one of the main barriers to the stable operation of electric power networks, which tend to grow and become increasingly interconnected. The difficulty of maintaining an acceptable voltage profile increases substantially and the voltage stability in the operation of the electrical systems must be preserved to the maximum extent in order to avoid the serious effects that its loss entails on the system. This dissertation works in the operation of the electrical system, more specific in the area of operation in real time, where it is important to know the proximity of the operational condition of the current system that corresponds to the critical point of stability. Such knowledge allows preventive actions to be taken in order to avoid instability. The determination of appropriate margins for the various activities carried out in the electric power systems is not a trivial task, motivating the development of this dissertation. The objective of the work is from the comparison between a systemic margin and the nodal margin, calculated respectively by the Continued Power Flow and by the Matrix D method, to determine a criterion for the load capacity margin from the voltage stability point of view, for safe operation. In the event of each contingency, the largest growth (margin) is calculated from the base case, where the nodal indices are still positive. The smallest margin is defined as the minimum margin. The proposed approach was evaluated through the results obtained with a modified version of the so-called Nordic32 test system.

[en] As electrical systems increasingly overloaded due to increased electricity consumption and environmental and economic constraints, the assessment of voltage stability conditions is increasingly needed for planning and operation studies. In this context, the methods for evaluating the load of the network help to understand the system operations under abnormal conditions. For different types of network, the evaluation indices of voltage stability for selected loads were deduced. These indices indicate the operating region in the curves constant in SV plane for each system bar. This study aims to compare and analyze the results obtained to determine the maximum load point between the Continuous Power Flow method and the Matrix D method for different types of test systems.

[en] USING ELECTRIC CIRCUIT EQUIVALENTS FOR VOLTAGE STABILITY ASSESSMENT / [pt] UTILIZAÇÃO DE CIRCUITOS ELÉTRICOS EQUIVALENTES NA AVALIAÇÃO DAS CONDIÇÕES DE ESTABILIDADE DE TENSÃOLAURA CRISTINA PANIAGUA PALACIO 08 June 2015 (has links)
[en] The emergence of voltage stability phenomenon in the operation of power systems has motivated hundreds of researchers to develop methods to detect the proximity to voltage instability, with computational efficiency and to take all necessary and appropriate measures to ensure reliable and safe operation. In this work, different methods that allow transforming large systems into simple circuits were analyzed, such as the equivalent circuit between generators and loads, based on the calculation of short-circuit currents; the network reduction technique for eliminating intermediate buses; and the Thévenin equivalent. The application of these equivalents on voltage stability assessment of 3 and 4 bus testing systems were extensively tested. At the end, it was verified that that the equivalent circuit between the generator and load, and the network reduction technique, cannot be used for calculating the voltage stability conditions evaluation indexes. However, using Thévenin equivalent circuit, it was found a proper method, which works correctly for terminal buses, transit buses and voltage-controlled buses.

[pt] ANÁLISES ESTÁTICA E DINÂMICA DA ATUAÇÃO DE EQUIPAMENTOS DE CONTROLE NA ESTABILIDADE DE TENSÃO / [en] STATIC AND DYNAMIC ANALYSES OF CONTROL DEVICE EFFECTS ON VOLTAGE STABILITYMARCOS VINICIUS PIMENTEL TEIXEIRA 19 October 2016 (has links)
[en] The voltage stability problem is associated with the maximum power injection in the network and the possibility of the voltage control having the opposite effect. Some real cases of blackouts characterized by voltage decays suggest that normal procedures for automatic voltage control can adversely affect the voltage level in the system. This may have been because in special situations, characterized by an inverse relationship between the controls variables in the devices used to control the system voltage, the automatic voltage control can have the opposite effect to that expected based on the design logic. This statement is based on the criterion for small-disturbance voltage stability: At a given operating condition for every bus in the system, a system is voltage-stable if the bus voltage magnitude increases as the reactive power injection at the same bus is increased. A system is voltage-unstable if, for at least one bus in the system, the bus voltage magnitude decreases as the reactive power injection at the same bus is increased. In addition, it is based on the 𝑉𝑄 curve criterion: Since all reactive power control devices are designed to operate satisfactorily when an increase in 𝑄 is accompanied by an increase in 𝑉, operation on the right side of the 𝑉𝑄 is stable and on the left side is unstable. Besides, the bottom of the 𝑉𝑄 curve represents the stability limit and defines the minimum reactive power requirement for stable operation. The unexpected control effect could produce excessively low (or high) voltages for normal system operation and cause undesirable consequences. In light of this, the present work seeks to analyze in the time domain the effects of device control actions starting from points where the control variables are inversely related and validated (or not) the results estimated by methods based on static analysis, for example, the criterion for small-disturbance voltage stability and 𝑉𝑄 curve. Dynamic simulations show that static analysis cannot be applied to
all types of devices used to control the voltage. Another possible cause of the voltage stability problem is the action of overexcitation limiters. For this reason, it is proposed a way for identifying the machines that have a chance to hit the overexcitation limit in static analysis studies. However, in most cases, the action of these limiters has no detrimental effect on system stability and, therefore, it is also proposed a criterion that identifies the imminent loss of stability due to these limiters. This criterion may be useful in design of load shedding schemes, in order to prevent loss of stability, and can be used for online security assessment, warning for instability and indicating preventive actions.

[en] LOSS OF CONTROL AND INADEQUATE VOLTAGE CONTROL ACTION IN THE EVALUATION OF VOLTAGE STABILITY CONDITIONS / [pt] PERDA E INADEQUAÇÃO DO CONTROLE DE TENSÃO NA AVALIAÇÃO DAS CONDIÇÕES DE ESTABILIDADE DE TENSÃOOSCAR CUARESMA ZEVALLOS 03 February 2015 (has links)
do controle.
e as tensões controladas.
[en] This research is related to the evaluation of voltage stability conditions of
operating points of the power system. It has been studied the modelling of
synchronous generators/synchronous compensators and static var compensators.
The best models were established with active voltage control and with loss of
control. The issue of voltage control was treated through analysis of the matrix
sensitivity elements between the controlling variables and voltages at controlled
buses. The voltage stability indexes were evaluated. In all cases, control loss
proved to have a negative impact on voltage stability conditions. In cases with
inadequate control action, results are non-dependent of the opposed relation
between the controlling variable and voltage at controlling bus, an increase on
voltage at controlled busbar proved to have a positive impact on voltage stability
conditions, and a decrease on voltage at controlled busbar proved to have a
negative impact on voltage stability conditions. This is also expected when the
control action is appropriate.

[en] STATIC AND DYNAMIC SIMULATION FOR GENERATOR VOLTAGE CONTROL / [pt] SIMULAÇÃO ESTÁTICA E DINÂMICA DO CONTROLE DE TENSÃO POR GERADORESLUIS FERNANDO FERREIRA 09 January 2007 (has links)
[pt] O problema tratado nesta dissertação é a relação oposta
entre a tensão de
excitação de geradores e compensadores síncronos e a tensão
controlada,
manter a tensão controlada. Devido à relação oposta, uma
maior excitação da
máquina iria abaixar a tensão controlada. O controle
automático iria continuar
agindo, abaixando ainda mais a tensão. Este mecanismo pode
levar o sistema
O objetivo do
trabalho é então entender melhor as situações operativas
abordagem do problema
curva SV. A real existência do fenômeno foi comprovada
através de algumas
destas análises. Porém, conclui-se que nem todas as formas
de análise no
domínio do tempo fazem uma avaliação completa do fenômeno.
Dentre essas,
estão a análise dinâmica agregada e a análise dinâmica
[en] The problem addressed in this research is the opposite
relationship
between the , synchronous generator / compensator
excitation voltage and the
controlled voltage when nearby network is heavily loaded.
In this situation, the
nominal capacity of a generator / compensator would not
keep the voltage
controlled. Due to the opposite relationship, the higher
the excitation voltage the
lower is the controlled voltage. So, the automatic control
would continue acting
lowering the voltage. This mechanism, verified in a real
operational point of the
Brazilian Electric System, can lead the system to collapse.
This phenomenon
occurs when the power injection into the network is high.
It is prone to occur in
the new scenario of distributed generation connected to
already existing low
voltage networks. The objective of this work is to
understand the actual operative
situations that lead to the occurrence of the phenomenon,
mainly when there are
several voltage control devices nearby the generator. The
analysis of the problem
was based on the verification of the generator behaviour as
a voltage control
device, in time domain simulation and in steady state. The
control actions were
evaluated from seven different ways for operating points in
the normal and the
abnormal region of the SV curve. The actual existence of
the phenomenon was
proven through some of these analyses. However, some of the
time domain
simulations did not evaluated the phenomenon completely.
Among them, the
aggregated dynamic analysis and the aggregated dynamic
analysis under
influence of other voltage control devices have not got the
expected
responses for the abnormal region of the SV curve, in
comparison with other
analysis.

[en] DETERMINATION OF THE LOADED OF TRANSMISSION BRANCHES FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF VOLTAGE STABILITY / [pt] DETERMINAÇÃO DO RAMO DE TRANSMISSÃO CARREGADO SOB O PONTO DE VISTA DE ESTABILIDADE DE TENSÃOJHON HANSEL NOYA VERGARA 11 July 2016 (has links)
[en] The voltage stability phenomenon is a problem related with the flow of active and reactive power in transmission lines. The main characteristic of this phenomenon is the existence of a maximum load that can be supplied by the network. Therefore, did the importance of knowing the proximity to the point of maximum loading of the transmission network. In this dissertation, the existing methods in the literature for determining the most heavily loaded transmission branch were studied, was assessed the accuracy of the results obtained when the transmission branches are studying individually, and finally was displayed an alternative to identify the most heavily loaded transmission branch observing variations in voltage stability indices in each branch. It has been shown that it is inappropriate to evaluate each line individually in a multi-node system.

[en] IDENTIFICATION OF THE LOADED TRANSMISSION BRANCH CONSIDERING THE VOLTAGE STABILITY POINT OF VIEW / [pt] IDENTIFICAÇÃO DO RAMO DE TRANSMISSÃO CARREGADO SOB O PONTO DE VISTA DE ESTABILIDADE DE TENSÃO10 June 2015 (has links)
[en] The voltage stability phenomenon is a problem related with the flow of active and reactive power in transmission lines. The main characteristic of this phenomenon is the existence of a maximum load that can be supplied by the network, but actually it is also known the existence of a maximum active and reactive power injection at the network supplied by generators and compensators. In this dissertation, a method is presented to evaluate the conditions of the network loadability and the critical buses identification. The network used to transmit the active power from or to a critical bus and its transmissions lines are identified, and identify the critical branch of the most loaded transmission path. This critical branch will have its power flow reduced. In this dissertation, is proposed the determination of the sub-transmission network when the bus under analysis has its voltage controlled by compensator. Furthermore, were proposed modifications to the current method: power injection rather than equivalent admittance in isolation of the sub-transmission network and the transmission paths and also, using voltage stability indexes rather than using analytical formulas to determine the most loaded path and critical branch.

[pt] REFORÇO DAS CONDIÇÕES DE ESTABILIDADE DE TENSÃO NA OPERAÇÃO DO SISTEMA ELÉTRICO / [en] VOLTAGE STABILITY REINFORCEMENT ON ELETRIC POWER SYSTEMS18 June 2002 (has links)
linhas e transformadores passaram a restringir menos a
Hoje as
interpretação física do fenômeno.Índices abrangentes e
conceito introduzido neste trabalho.
[en] As the electric power transmission networks became more
interconnected, the thermal limits of lines and
transformers restrict less the power transmission.
Similarly, the use of static systems of reactive power
compensation increases the power transmission capacity in
systems whereas before they were limited by problems of
angular stability. Actually, transmission lines are more
loaded and create the voltage stability problem.
In this work, voltage stability conditions are assessment
by nodal conditions associated to the maximum active and
reactive power flow that can be transmitted from generators
to loads. These nodal conditions are assessment using an
analytical tool, based on a simple but sound mathematical
background, modelling a straightforward physical
haracterisation of the phenomena. Comprehensive and
meaningful indices are obtained from system Jacobean matrix.
They indices indicate the operating region in V x P,Q
curve, the MVA margin to the maximum load, the relative
importance among buses, the buses loading ranking, a
measure of difficult for power transmission, and the
influence indices that relates power margins between two
operating points, which characterises efficiency or not,
for example, of a control action. In order to reinforce
voltage stability condition, the thesis proposes a method
consisting of three sequential stages. Firstly, voltage
stability is analysed, deciding network critical bus using
the power margin calculation. Next, the critical
transmission path is decided, which is a new concept used
in this work, in between several existing used to transport
generators power for that critical bus. Then, critical
branch is obtained through this path, concept introduced in
this work. An optimal power flow program is used to
alleviate load flow in the critical branch. The sequence
starts again with the stability condition assessment in the
new operating point. All stages are repeated until
resultant margins are judged suitable. Load, generation and
voltage-controlled bus by shunt reactive power compensators
could be considered critical bus. The nodal method used is
the only one capable of handling any bus type.Several cases
are shown, illustrative as well as real systems using real
operating points,including imminent voltage collapse
situations. It is verified that the proposed method really
produces the desired results.
