The third quest for the historical Jesus and its relevance for popular religion : Marcus J Borg as a test case

Oosthuizen, Susan 06 1900 (has links)
The most popular paradigm for Jesus is 'Jesus as the Divine Saviour'. This image is inadequate for understanding the historical Jesus, because it is also inaccurate as an image for the Christian life. Marcus J Borg claims that the Christian life is about a relationship with God that involves us in a journey of transformation. In advocating the 'Third Quest', Borg develops an alternative image of 'Jesus as Jewish mystic ', contrary to the idea of 'Jesus as Jewish/Christian Messiah '. The image of Borg involves five universal religious personality types. The paradigm shift from 'Jesus as the Divine Saviour' to that of 'Jesus as Jewish mystic' is investigated as well as the relevance and consequences of this, for everyday religion and the conventional church. A plea for a positive assessment of the issue of the historical Jesus is presented. This could have existential implications for South African society as a whole. / Biblical and Ancient Studies / M.Th. (New Testament)

Proměny domu (analýza domu v portugalském románu 20. století) / Transformations of the Concept of House (An Analysis of the House in the 20th Century Portuguese Novel)

Válová, Karolina January 2018 (has links)
The dissertation under the title Transformations of the Concept of House (An Analysis of the House in the 20th Century Portuguese Novel) endeavours to map the concept, portrayal and primarily the transformations of the space of a house, which is at the same time interpreted as an archetypical space universal in the 20th century Portuguese novel. Following the introduction and a summary of various literary theory approaches to the analysis of a house, Chapter 2 focuses in particular on a topological analysis and an analysis of the symbolic space. The topos of the house is fundamental for thematology and literary topology. A house, representing either a dwelling place, a temporary refuge or a home, is an essential space in the majority of literary stories; it is a certain static counterpart to a literary character, it forms their background or represents an aim to which they are heading. Its organization may reflect a character's nature or emphasize a significant contradiction between the space and the human being inhabiting it. As the role, function, form and significance of a literary character and of other constitutive elements of a narrative text were transformed in the course of the 20th century, the concept of the space of a house also underwent significant changes. Chapter 3 of the...

L'éditorialisation du film de famille : l'architexte Famille TM comme support d'un exercice de la mémoire / Home movies editorialization : exercice family's memory through the Famille TM architext

Leyoudec, Lénaïk 17 January 2017 (has links)
This research project was made at the R&D department at Perfect Memory and focus on how to support family memory via a technological artifact. We question the artifact through the prism of information and communication sciences. The project offers to build a new approach, that of the editorialization of digital documents, enabling each user to rediscover their cultural heritage. This can be done by means of Famille TM, a co-built Web app. Following a study of the cultural heritage market as applied to private individuals, to whom Perfect Memory belongs, we proceed to a cross analysis of two concepts : "Digital" and "Memory". Starting from these, we built a theoretical framework in which we consider digital documents as a base for memory training. The technological artifact allows such training through a mediation process. Editorialization, as a set of processes made on the digital document through a technological artifact, appears as central to our concern: to design ways to support memory habits through Famille TM. We divide the construction of an editorialization approach into two steps. First, we build a corpus of digital documents - home movies - from various cultural heritage organizations. Then we interrogate the corpus through a semiotic methodology in order to gather salient and invariant elements in each interpretation. We name them memory markers. In a second step, we transcribe the markers categorization into editorial and ergonomic recommendations for Famille TM. Until today, the technological artifact consisted in one single mode: the documentation of archives. We introduce two extra modes: the cinematographic experience and the private experience. Each mode provides the user with an original entry point into documents uploaded on the app. To summarize our editorialization approach, we implement three modes into Famille TM and for each of them we design several scenarios made up of specific features and user experiences.

Ďábel strážný: téma identity v mexickém románu na přelomu tisíciletí. / Devil Guardian: The Theme of Identity in Mexican Novel on the break of the Millenium.

Alon, Andrea January 2013 (has links)
The theme of the dissertation submitted is the novel Devil Guardian, whose author is a Mexican writer Xavier Velasco. This dissertation is the very first theoretical work in the Czech environment, devoted to the above-mentioned piece of literature published in 2004. In a sense, Devil Guardian represents a characteristic Mexican novel of the early 21st century, combining tradition and novelty in a surprising and original manner. A significant feature of the contemporary Mexican literature is a departure from the theme of Mexicanity, generally from a programmatic indulging in so-called national literature. Velasco's novel is an exemplary, however, not only piece of literature proving that the literary break-up with Mexico is neither an exclusive nor a dominant attribute of the contemporary Mexican fiction. In Devil Guardian Velasco focuses his mind on the theme of personal and national identity, which he treats in a considerably nontraditional manner, giving an ironical turn to speak to a hypermodern girl moving in the globalized world. The dissertation is divided into six parts. The first part "Originality Rooted in Tradition" refers to Devil Guardian ensuing the tradition of Mexican novel and innovating it. The second part "Xavier Velasco" briefly introduces the author's life and work. The issues...

Sanmartín Cava, Josep Francesc 26 April 2022 (has links)
[EN] Throughout history, each era configures its own imaginary regarding the hero, so that the resulting mythology is shaped according to the cosmogony of the moment. However, this imaginary also has a cultural ancestry and is constantly influenced by the different cosmogonic currents of the past. This allows us to understand that the apprehension of the archetype happens in a noological environment in constant transformation that extends to ancient times. In this research, we present a study on the archetype of the hero in each age, in order to understand the mythical function of this mythical reference throughout history, and its repercussions in contemporaneity. Similarly, this allows us to reflect on the sociopolitical function of heroism, and how mythology is subject to the discourse control of social hierarchies. In any case, we study how, in the face of this, the themes and heroes subsist in the popular collective imagination regardless of who holds the cultural hegemony. We also analyze the imaginary of contemporary society, to determine which hero is the most representative of our time, based on the order of discourse and social interests. In the same way, we also pay attention to the heroes who, without being protagonists, better represent the democratic ideals that underpin Western societies. Likewise, we identify those heroes who have survived to this day due to their cultural roots. Finally, the development of research around the noology of the hero and the evolution of the collective imagination allows us to better understand the essential character of the hero. At the end of the thesis it is possible to consider the degree to which the archetypes are monolithic and whether, in some of the cases, the transformation of their apprehension can give rise to singular referents, despite preserving common features. / Sanmartín Cava, JF. [en] CULTIVATION OF VISION: FOLKLORE, LANDSCAPE AND ROMANTICISM IN JORGE PRELORÁN S WORK (1965-1975). / [pt] O CULTIVO DO OLHAR: FOLCLORE, PAISAGEM E ROMANTISMO NA OBRA DE JORGE PRELORÁN (1965-1975)

ANA CAROLINE MATIAS ALENCAR 08 August 2023 (has links)
[en] In 1965, the filmmaker Jorge Prelorán began to develop a vast documentary series, entitled Relevamiento Cinematográfico de Expresiones Folklóricas Argentinas, dedicated to the study and filming of inlands regions of the country. The project, which was sponsored by Universidad Nacional de Tucumán and Fondo Nacional de las Artes, took place in the midst of an intellectual and artistic context marked both by the emergence of diverse proposals for the renewal of cinematographic language, and by the cultural phenomenon known as boom of the folk movement, which occurred in the 1960s in Argentina. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis was to investigate how Jorge Prelorán reformulated, in the films he made for the project between 1965 and 1975, a set of themes, topics, methodologies, narrative resources and discursive procedures originated from three broad domains, with which the director maintained close contacts: the long tradition of Argentine essays, dedicated to the interpretation of the nation; the fields of folklore and anthropology prevailing in the country, in its multiple phases; and the modalities of ethnographic cinema with which the director related in those years. The dialogues that were established between Prelorán s work and the intellectual and artistic traditions mentioned previously – dialogues that were almost always based on the strategies of describing nature, on the different modes of representing time and space and on the models of depicting art and culture used by the filmaker – were conceived throughout this research as variations around four major themes: cartography, travel, compendium and empathic filming methodology.

All Of Chinese Literature Condensed: A Sourcebook From The Playwright, Director, And Biggest Fan

Emerson, Whitney 01 January 2013 (has links)
Aristotle stated in his Poetics that theatre’s dual purpose was to educate and entertain. Centuries later the Roman Horace and Indian Bharata echoed his same sentiments. I intend to realize all three theorist’s ideas on the theatre by creating an original educational and entertaining work and bringing it to performance. The audience will retain information without being aware of learning if it is presented in a pleasurable way. The most important geopolitical relationship of this century will be between China and America. In order to educate the American public about the culture of The Middle Kingdom, I propose to write and direct my own play, condensing all three thousand years of Chinese literature into a one hundred and ten minute performance. I will benefit from the personal nature of this thesis by experiencing every stage of a play’s production: from idea to page to performance. My thesis will be made of three major parts: conceiving and writing the play, a journal of directing the debut production, and a third section made of choices, influences, and reflection on the entire experience. In this manner, the ideas swirling in my head may be made clear to others reading this thesis. The play itself will be a comical distillation of ten selected works of Chinese literature. Four non-gender specific American actors will seem to make up the show as it performs in a tongue-in-cheek way. Taking my stated goal of entertaining and educating the audience to heart, the overarching plot of the play will center on the four actors teaching the audience about the literature and culture of China by acting out scenes and telling stories. The information in the scenes will be targeted to a normal American citizen’s educational level with liberal doses of humor added. The four actors will be playing fictionalized versions of themselves and at times iv breaking character by explaining and setting up the theatricality of the piece to the audience. Part of the fun of the show will be seeing how these actors explain a subject as obtuse as Chinese literature to Americans. Perhaps a cooking metaphor is the best way to think of the play: I will chop up raw Chinese literature, the actors will boil it onstage, the theatregoer will consume the mix, and exit the theatre full of entertaining intellectual nourishment. My experiences directing and producing the finished play will be recorded in a journal as a resource for future directors. I imagine directing the play will be the most challenging aspect of this thesis. How is the play changed when other people interact with it? How will the audience receive it? In addition, Committee Chair Mark Routhier and my thesis Committee Members, Mark Brotherton and Tan Huaixiang, will also give written responses to the play’s performances. The play will be performed October 10-13, 2013 in the University of Central Florida’s Performing Arts Complex Studio 2 classroom. In the final section I will write a reflection on the entire process. This will serve the dual purpose of giving me a place to collect my thoughts and giving others a special insight to the growth they might experience when producing this play. Foremost among my influences in writing a play with this subject matter are the style and tone of The Reduced Shakespeare Company

以服務設計發展社區社交平台App 促進鄰里人際互動與溝通之研究 / Service design for a social platform of community strengthens the interaction and communication between people and neighborhoods

Lee, An Ting Unknown Date (has links)

Prostory vlastní a cizí v pohádkách Karla Jaromíra Erbena, Boženy Němcové, bratří Grimmů a Ludwiga Bechsteina / .The "own" and "foreign" spaces in the fairy tales of Karel Jaromír Erben, Božena Němcová, the Grimm brothers and Ludwig Bechstein

Ledinská, Šárka January 2020 (has links)
This dissertation has two main aims. The first is to describe or specify the poetics of "own" and "foreign" space in literary work in general and in the fairy tales of K. J. Erben, the Grimm brothers, B. Němcová or L. Bechstein; the second is to analyse and compare the poetics in three spatial pairs the "own" and "foreign" spaces in relation to the main character of the above-mentioned fairy tales representing, namely in the spaces of home and journey, the living and the dead or welfare and poverty. The first part of the thesis is mostly theoretical and is primarily focused on the first set goal, i. e. the description and specification of the poetics of "own" and "foreign" spaces as well as on related phenomena, such as the definition of concepts "space", "own", "foreign", "own and foreign space", "place", "character", "subject of own and foreign space", analysis of the character's relationships to space, evolution of humans relationship to space and their perspective on it in history and literature with a special focus on spatial turn etc. The second, predominantly analytical-comparative part of the thesis, connected mainly with the second set goal of the dissertation, focuses with the help of secondary literature in the field of humanities and specifically selected fairy-tale aspects on the...
