Spherical harmonic inductive detection coils and their use in dynamic pre-emphasis for magnetic resonance imaging

Edler, Karl 13 September 2010 (has links)
The issue of eddy currents induced by the rapid switching of magnetic field gradients is a long-standing problem in magnetic resonance imaging. A new method for dealing with this problem is presented whereby spatial harmonic components of the magnetic field are continuously sensed, through their temporal rates of change, and corrected. In this way, the effects of the eddy currents on multiple spatial harmonic components of the magnetic field can be detected and corrections applied during the rise time of the gradients. Sensing the temporal changes in each spatial harmonic is made possible with specially designed detection coils. However to make the design of these coils possible, general relationships between the spatial harmonics of the field, scalar potential, and vector potential are found within the quasi-static approximation. These relationships allow the vector potential to be found from the field – an inverse curl operation – and may be of use beyond the specific problem of detection coil design. Using the detection coils as sensors, methods are developed for designing a negative feedback system to control the eddy current effects and optimizing that system with respect to image noise and distortion. The design methods are successfully tested in a series of proof-of-principle experiments which lead to a discussion of how to incorporate similar designs into an operational MRI.

In the search for new communication systems many works have been performed in order to get constellation geometrically uniform signs and codes in Euclidean space. In this context, our proposal is to identify an algebraic and geometric structure for algebraic lattices from the canonical homomorphism possessing great center density. In this sense, this project focuses on the galoisian extensions of p odd prime degree and find Z-module structures via these extensions that create algebraic lattices with great center density. / 2015/20595-4

ALGÈBRES DE HECKE, SÉRIES GÉNÉRATRICES ET APPLICATIONS

Vankov, Kirill 27 November 2008 (has links) (PDF)

In this work we study constrained differential systems, also known as systems of equations with impasse. In Chapter 1, several results and basic definitions of Riemannian geometry are listed; we present the concept of the monotone vector field in Hadamard manifolds and many of their properties, besides, we introduce the concept of enlargement of a monotone vector field, and we display its properties in a Riemannian context. In Chapter 2, an inexact proximal point method for variational inequalities in Hadamard manifolds is introduced, and its convergence properties are studied; see [7]. To present our method, we generalize the concept of enlargement of monotone operators, from a linear setting to the Riemannian context. As an application, an inexact proximal point method for constrained optimization problems is obtained. In Chapter 3, we present an extragradient algorithm for variational inequality associated with the point-to-set vector field in Hadamard manifolds and study its convergence properties; see [8]. In order to present our method, the concept of enlargement of maximal monotone vector fields is used and its lower-semicontinuity is established to obtain the convergence of the method in this new context. In Chapter 4, we present a sufficient condition for the existence of a solution to the generalized vector equilibrium problem on Hadamard manifolds using a version of the KnasterKuratowski-Mazurkiewicz Lemma; see [6]. In particular, the existence of solutions to optimization, vector optimization, Nash equilibria, complementarity, and variational inequality is a special case of the existence result for the generalized vector equilibrium problem.
