Lygia Fagundes Telles : imaginário e a escritura do duploLamas, Berenice Sica January 2002 (has links)

Ensinando o futuro: visões da ficção científica sobre o ato de lecionar / Teaching the future: visions of science fiction about the act of schoolingFranco, Jefferson Luiz 30 March 2017 (has links)
This research presents a theoretical-analytical approach to the question of representation of teaching in science fiction texts of American authors of the 20th century: Isaac Asimov, author of The fun they had! (1951); Lloyd Biggle Jr, who wrote And madly teach at 1966 and Connie Willis, whose analyzed narrative is called Ado and dates back to 1990. Discuss the relationships potentially liable to be established between the imaginary depicted in these works and the contemporary neoliberal vision of the act of teaching as the object of automation and strict standardization can certify the fact that such idealized representations have become, to a large extent, paradigms from the practices of advanced capitalism (which have as their primary model the American nation) capable of influencing how relationships between teachers and technologies in our country are understood, represented and planned. Therefore, as a primary objective, we attempt to understand how the discursive construction of the representation of the education worker (and the imaginary technologies surrounding this representation) is carried out, inserting it into the cultural dimensions of the North American imaginary in order to discuss its contemporary reflections and its deterministic content. In order to do this, we methodologically used the review and bibliographical analysis of scientific articles and national and foreign literary texts (which included, but were not limited to, works designated as objects), and, among the conclusions drawn, we pointed out that the relationship of the corpus with the cultural industry does not allow a radical departure from traditionalist educational theories familiar to the readers who constitute the target audience of the authors, in addition to highlighting perspectives marked by determinism in the texts, although in some cases, it is just insinuated or emerged in contrast to subsequent productions of the writer. As a final point, however, it is possible to see the ultimate content of the texts of the corpus as having a humanistic priority: Asimov portrays the desire for a communal education in place of the isolation of the student in the name of efficiency; Biggle Jr. discusses, in a subtle way, the devaluation of the teacher's figure before a technique focused at the maximization of economic results and, finally, Willis points out the possibilities and dangers of trying to ban all the ideology of the school environment, following a supposedly democratic mold that ends up serving the annihilation of the possibilities of learning.

The notion of simplicity as a design concept in contemporary music in Germany : positioning between sources and legitimationWaschbüsch, Viviane 05 December 2016 (has links)
This thesis proposes a cross-disciplinary approach between: historical musicology, analytical musicology (analysis of pieces and the genetics of the piece) and art sociology (socio- economic analysis and sociological analysis of artistic practice). The "New Simplicity" composers were the source of a very wide compositional current reintegrating traditional musical forms in a new interpretation, reactivating the function of the polarity of consonance and dissonance. The notion of "simplicity" and ideas that emerged from this concept were a catalyst that contributed to the establishment of postmodernism in Germany. However, the generation of the "New Simplicity" and their shared ideas and concepts came to an abrupt end with the fall of the Berlin Wall and the cultural and political changes induced by this upheaval. Political developments and the creation of a new Akademie der Künste Berlin representing a fusion of Akademie der Künste Berlin East and West led to an opposing position between two first manifesto signatories of this generation of composers: W. Rihm with his abstention from the debate and H-J. von Bose with his withdrawal from the Akademie der Künste Berlin in common with many other artists such as G. Ligeti and G. Baselitz, marking the definitive end of the collaboration of this generation of composers.

Israel's narrative of origins in Genesis one and two from the perspective of René Girard's mimetic theoryRuckhaus, Keith Raymond 12 1900 (has links)
This thesis explores the implications of René Girard’s mimetic theory on Genesis 1 and 2 in the Old Testament. It tests the extent to which Genesis 1 and 2 are structured sacrificially or mythically as outlined by Girard. René Girard’s theory is summarized and clarified as to how the theory can be applied to biblical texts. In addition, Girard’s theory is explained in the context of theory-making in late modernity, and critiques of Girard from biblical, anthropological, sociological, and theological perspectives are addressed. A sacrificial structure is explored in Genesis and Exodus that informs the exegesis of Genesis 1 and 2. The critical elements in Girard’s scapegoat mechanism—acquisitive desire leading to rivalry, crisis, and ultimately to an expulsion—are examined in the expulsion of the Hebrews from Egypt (Exodus 1) and the expulsions of Abraham and Isaac in Genesis (Gen 12-21). A particular pattern takes shape that structures the narratives in the Pentateuch. An exegesis of Israel’s narrative of origins in Genesis 1 and 2 follows, incorporating Girard’s theoretical insights with higher critical methods conventionally employed to the Old Testament. The thesis discovers striking parallels with Israel’s narrative of origins. They are indeed sacrificially structured, but they also interrogate that structure and describe an alternative sacrificial response. The sacrifice that Yahweh instigates dismantles the mythical structure even as it moves through the sequence. The thesis concludes with a validation of Girard’s theory and explains how Girard’s theory can be useful to the current exegetical tasks. / Biblical and Ancient studies / D. Th. (Old Testament)

Thesis (MA)--Stellenbosch University, 2012. / ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The stereotypical figure of the femme fatale as irresistible seductress, who inevitably brings about death, is well
known. This figure is nevertheless strangely absent from Afrikaans literature. This is what makes the appearance
of the character of Nicolette in André Brink’s novel, The Ambassador (1963), so remarkable. Not only is she a
complex femme fatale, she also adds a new dimension to the cliché. The striking similarities between Nicolette
and Kathe, the female protagonist in Henri-Pierre Roché’s novel Jules et Jim (1953), justify a comparative study
between these two novels. Although both of them bring about death, it seems that the presence of these femme
fatale characters has positive rather than negative consequences. Contrary to the stereotypical evil temptress,
Nicolette and Kathe are more natural, spontaneous and unpredictable – apparently free from the constricting
qualities of the bloodthirsty femme fatale. In this comparative study, the image of the femme fatale is
investigated through the close examination of its role and function in Jules et Jim and The Ambassador. By
examining the philosopher René Girard’s theories on mimetic desire, violence and sacrifice as well as Georges
Bataille’s ideas on eroticism and death, the nature of the femme fatale in these two novels is analysed in order to
determine to what extent the image of the femme fatale as negative archetype could be reconsidered.
teweegbring, is alombekend.
se roman, Die Ambassadeur (1963), so merkwaardig is.
Anders as

The Northern IRA and the early years of partition 1920-22Lynch, Robert John January 2003 (has links)
The years i 920-22 constituted a period of unprecedented conflct and political change in Ireland. It began with the onset of the most brutal phase of the War ofIndependence and culminated in the effective miltary defeat of the Republican IRA in the Civil War. Occurring alongside these dramatic changes in the south and west of Ireland was a far more fundamental conflict in the north-east; a period of brutal sectarian violence which marked the early years of partition and the establishment of Northern Ireland. Almost uniquely the IRA in the six counties were involved in every one of these conflcts and yet it can be argued was on the fringes of all of them. The period i 920-22 saw the evolution of the organisation from a peripheral curiosity during the War of independence to an idealistic symbol for those wishing to resolve the fundamental divisions within the Sinn Fein movement which developed in the first six months of i 922. The story of the Northern IRA's collapse in the autumn of that year demonstrated dramatically the true nature of the organisation and how it was their relationship to the various protagonists in these conflcts, rather than their unceasing but fruitless war against partition, that defined its contribution to the Irish revolution.

The Twilight of the Texas Democrats: The 1978 Governor's RaceBridges, Kenneth William 12 1900 (has links)
This dissertation examines the results and strategies used in the 1978 Texas gubernatorial election to determine what issues, demographics, and campaign strategies led the Republican Party nominee, Dallas businessman Bill Clements, to defeat the Democratic nominee, Attorney General John Hill, to break the 105-year old Democratic lock on the governorship and how this victory affected the evolution of Texas into a two-party state. Research materials include manuscripts and published speeches, letters, oral interviews, elections results, and secondary materials.
