Design av Mobila Gränssnitt : Mobila TuristapplikationerJohansson, Mattias, Andersson, Linus January 2005 (has links)
The implementation of the third generation of mobile networks (3G) has led to a creation of new areas of use within mobile services. Increased capacity of the bandwidth has made it possible to send a considerable amount more data than in the predecessors of 3G. It has also led to new services within 3G. One area which is under development is mobile tourism information. Mobila Guiden is a mobile tourismapplication which TelecomCity, Karlskrona, has developed. It is a guide over the world heritage in the city which is presented on a 3G mobile phone. The user is presented with a map over Karlskrona City on a mobile phone with different points of interest. These points include information in the form of text, pictures and sound about the object. Certain negative aspects regarding mobile phones surface under the discussion. The screens on mobile phones are relatively small which makes information presentation complicated. It is hard to design the user interface for applications so that the users becomes satisfied. Within the computer industry, Human Computer Interaction and other areas concerning user interface has been studied, but when it comes to the small screens of mobile phones the research is not that widespread. The aim of this report is that from a user perspective, analyze and identify how a mobile application for the 3G-network that presents tourism information should be designed to satisfy user needs. We focus on that applications of this kind in the future should appeal to a broad customer base. The result of this report will give normative knowledge and be regarded as an academic contribution in the future development of information presentation in mobile networks. Our investigation began with a study regarding existing literature. Thereafter a case study with qualitative interviews relating to Mobila Guiden in Karlskrona took place along with a focus group meeting later on. We finally used a survey to get quantitative data regarding opinions of the user interface of the application. The results of the empirical study were then analyzed in relation to appropriate theories. A mobile tourism application must present a broad range of information to satisfy the users, for example: a map with sights worth seeing, restaurants, hotels and happenings. The usability should consist of the creation of a dialogue between the application and the user. The user must receive feedback and information on how to use the application. The choice of colour should be taken under consideration since the screen size makes it imperative that the user interface is clear and easy to understand. It should also be possible to make individual adjustments regarding the speed of a picture slideshow, font size and sound.

Emulating 3G Network Characteristics on WiFi NetworksAlesand, Alexander January 2015 (has links)
Mobile applications should work regardless of which type of wireless interface is used, and should be able to conceal unstable connections from the user to improve user experience. Therefore, network testing is important when developing mobile applications, but it is a challenge to reproduce network conditions when using real cellular networks since the test engineer has no control over the quality of the cellular network. Existing software tools can restrict bandwidth and add latency to the connection, but these tools do not accurately emulate cellular networks. This thesis proposes a system where it is possible to shape the network traffic for connected devices to mimic the network patterns of a real cellular connection when running on a WiFi connection. The design presented in this thesis is intended for testing mobile applications under diverse 3G connection parameters, such as latency, bandwidth and other characteristics. This thesis was conducted at Spotify, a company that provides a music streaming service which is a frequent user of network data traffic. The 3G emulator was evaluated using the Spotify Android application by measuring the correlation between packet traces from a real 3G connection and the 3G emulator. This correlation was compared to the correlation between packet traces from a real 3G connection and the current network emulator at Spotify. The evaluation shows that the proposed 3G emulator outperforms the current network emulator when performing tests on the Spotify application for Android. By using this emulator, we expect the network testing to become more effective as any 3G condition can be tested with repeatable results.

第三代行動通訊系統中利用位置預測以改進交遞管理之研究 / Location Prediction for Handoff Management in 3rd Generation Mobile Communication System徐榮志, Roger Hsu Unknown Date (has links)
而IP(Internet Protocol)的應用與行動通訊的結合,將會徹底改變大眾未來的生活。 / The development of mobile communication will base on the 3rd generation communication system (3G), which can provide boardband wireless data communication and voice service. The integration of Internet protocol and mobile communication will totally change our future life. In comparisons with previous mobile communication systems, the coverage of 3G base station is much smaller, which will cause Mobile Host (MH) execute handoff procedure more frequently.
Our goal is to reduce handoff dropping rate, new call blocking rate and at the same time satisfy all QoS requests, increase resource utilization supporting seamless handoff. In the past, handoff procedure is executed by assessing signal strength of base stations. Here we consider user location and base station geographical pattern to support a location-aware handoff procedure. We invent a resource reservation scheme according to the traffic characteristics and environment of the base station and predict user location to optimize system performance.
To compare the system performance between different schemes, we developed a handoff simulation tool (3GHOSim) suitable for 3G mobile communication system. The system could import electronic map, create different user behavior (direction, speed, etc.), generate different user requirements and traffic loads trying to get more realistic simulation results.

Wireless Communication Options for a Mobile Ultrasound SystemDickson, Brett William 02 September 2008 (has links)
"A mobile ultrasound system has been developed, which makes ultrasound examinations possible in harsh environments without reliable power sources, such as ambulances, helicopters, war zones, and disaster sites. The goal of this project was to analyze three different wireless communication technologies that could be integrated into the ultrasound system for possible utilization in remote data applications where medical information may be transmitted from the mobile unit to some centralized base station, such as an emergency room or field hospital. By incorporating wireless telecommunication technology into the design, on site medical personnel can be assisted in diagnostic decisions by remote medical experts. The wireless options that have been tested include the IEEE 802.11g standard, mobile broadband cards on a 3G cellular network, and a mobile satellite terminal. Each technology was tested in two phases. In the first phase, a client/server application was developed to measure and record general information about the quality of each link. Four different types of tests were developed to measure channel properties such as data rate, latency, inter-arrival jitter, and packet loss using various signal strengths, packet sizes, network protocols, and traffic loads. In the second phase of testing, the H.264 Scalable Video Codec (SVC) was used to transmit real-time ultrasound video streams over each of the wireless links to observe the image quality as well as the diagnostic value of the received video stream. The information gathered during both testing phases revealed the abilities and limitations of the different wireless technologies. The results from the performance testing will be valuable in the future for those trying to develop network applications for telemedicine procedures over these wireless telecommunication options. Additionally, the testing demonstrated that the system is currently capable of using H.264 SVC compression to transmit VGA quality ultrasound video at 30 frames per second (fps) over 802.11g while QVGA resolution at frame rates between 10 and 15 fps is possible over 3G and satellite networks."

Customer Relationship Management for Broadband Mobile Communication and Commerce陳瑞龍, Chen, Jui-Lon Unknown Date (has links)
Broadband mobile communication based on both broadband Internet and the third generation mobile communication system (3G) is going to play the role as a major channel for customers to obtain various services. It takes advantages of acquiring services with time saving, and any-time and any-place access in the near future. It is very obvious that eventually all companies offer real-customized broadband mobile services at the right time in the right place with the right price, so-called mobile commerce, due to customers' requirements and technology advancements e.g., data mining, global roaming, GPS, mobile location services, mobile IP and IPV6, etc.
Syndication and alliance will be shaped and concreted within and between companies for mobile commerce under the information infrastructure of both 3G and broadband Internet. New business opportunities are emerging considerably. However, companies are facing many more difficult challenges of losing customers easily due to quick and cheap switch from one company to another. Therefore, it is one of the most important topics now for companies to attract customers, satisfy customers, and win their loyalty through appropriate customer relationship management (CRM).
In this research, we survey the development ofCRM, its conceptual architecture, function, and advantage to both customers and companies. We study and compare four popular CRM systems - 12, Siebel, NCR, and BroadVision, which are currently available in the global market. And, we examine the current advancements of related information and communication technologies for CRM and figure out new trends of CRM for broadband mobile commerce based on the 3G and broadband Internet. Furthermore, we address the management and marketing strategies ofCRM for the coming challenges in the broadband mobile commerce era.
