The textile sector presents a general problem, due to the increasing introduction of international products (Chinese, Hindu, etc.) due to the low cost of labor and the use of high-tech equipment, this forces companies in the field to improve their productive processes, produce more with less, and reduce costs from the most basic jobs. Therefore, it is proposed to implement the Lean methodology, focusing directly on the optimization of production processes using its various tools and a selection of indicators for monitoring the results. To validate, a case study was carried out in a real company that implemented the different Lean tools and the Kaizen matrix in the dyeing and finishing process, a process that presents a high percentage of defects. This allowed us to effectively reduce the number of reprocesses by a significant 8.14%, which allowed the company to save $ 184,320.42.

Sweden's annual recoverable amount of cooling equipment are estimated to 650 000 units, the distribution takes place in certified recycling centers depending on the allowed amount. The modern lifestyle has led to increased recycling which must be addressed through profitable logistics and careful planning. Studies show that due to problems in inventory control is the determination of quantities and delivery points for incoming supplies. This case study aims to improve the understanding of material handling and warehouse flow in a recycling plant for possibilities of an improved state. In order to achieve the purpose rigorous qualitative observations of the material flow separated from production and sales has been done. To structure the case study an analytical model has been presented, the model increases the reader's understanding of the approach in the study and its contents. After careful analysis of the current state and theoretical relevance the primary cause of the inadequate storage structure and factors that are causing a negative impact on the stock has been determined. The root cause of the inadequate storage structure is inbound variety of cooling equipment and incoming quantity, this entails a high degree of warehouse filling and low safety. The variation in the different article classification is huge, cooling equipment differ in size and type. The cooling equipment variance depends mostly on the generalized categorization, for this reason, a new recommended categorization has been established where volume and frequency requirements are taken into account. The new classification creates opportunities for a recommended storage layout. To facilitate the recommendation, we have designed a Kanban board which is reflecting the warehouse space degree of filling together with a stock layout suggestion.

Case Study: Production and OEE improvement for an 800 tons stamping pressNarses, Aurélien January 2013 (has links)
The actual industrial development linked to the financial situation over the world lead automotive and other companies to expand their production level to stay competitive. Changing an organization to raise its production or profit is not a one day journey, but requires some steps. Tools exist to develop the production level of manufacturing industry since more or less the fifties, and the continuous improvement is measured by some available and famous indicators around lean manufacturing mainly. Pressing equipment especially like a metal stamping press expressed through the following case study can be improved by respecting some fundamentals. Lean manufacturing aspects as 5 S’s and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) for example are tools that can be applied to improve the production rate of a stamping press. To even better improve the OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) of the same machine, a tool like SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Dies) reveals to be really powerful when improving the global output rate of the machine. The case study developed inside this present report aims to investigate all the possibilities to improve the OEE of pressing equipment facing theoretical aspects and reality issues. The tools involved are part of the content, but the way to support a company for the organizational change required to the success is another part of the content. Technical solutions are taking part of the outcome, and a strong link to change management is included. Correlation between both technical and managerial aspects is the main line followed to get the final results. An experimental and actual OEE is calculated, and improved following a rating according to the possible improvements. Those results are analyzed to provide a weighted feedback related to the whole research.

Kvalitetssäkring vid en monteringslina : ett projekt på Swepart i Liatorp / Securing quality at an assembly line : a project at Swepart in LiatorpKallenberg, Hampus, Lohman, André January 2015 (has links)

The company under study, dedicated to the integral logistics of mining concentrates has as one of its main processes the reception of trucks with concentration of Cu, Pb and Zn of the different miners in Peru whose daily demand is 170 trucks for which it has set out to serve it in a period of 10 hours whose indicator of the process is 17 trucks/hour, but currently an indicator of 15 trucks/hour has been handled, this results in overruns such as overtime and resource utilization which amount to an annual cost of S/. 638,655; for this reason, they intend to implement two tools of the Lean Six Sigma methodology. The diagnosis revealed that the problem of non-compliance with indicator lies in the inefficiency and effectiveness of the receiving process, in which the total time of trucks throughout the receiving process circuit is high on average 2.4 hours; the causal analysis found root causes such as disordered areas, congestion in sampling area and discharge zone, after which it is proposed the deployment of the methodology's own tools such as the implementation of 5S that seeks to generate culture of order and cleanliness with and the improvement of the flow of trucks between stages with the standardization of processes. When deploying, it is estimated to reduce average truck time from 2.4 hours to 1.7 hours and optimize resources and reduce over-costs.

This paper proposes an optimization model that seeks to increase the production capacity in a Mype of t-shirt manufacturing to reduce the failure of orders, which includes incomplete delivery and delay in delivery. Therefore, we do a diagnostic, and dead times are identified by: unnecessary transport, search for materials, and excess loss by cutting the fabric in the wrong way; for these causes, suitable tools seek to adapt and improve capacity. Then, we adopted tools such as the 5’s, plant distribution, and method study. However, to ensure to meet objectives are, it is proposed to identify and improve the organizational culture to serve as the basis of the optimization model. Through the validation process, it will be possible to verify whether the adaptability of operational tools with the improvement of culture helps with the growth of production. / Trabajo de Suficiencia Profesional
