INTERPERSONELLA PROBLEM: KLIENTERS FÖRÄNDRING I TERAPI OCH SAMBANDET MED TERAPEUTERS PROBLEMATIKEriksson Östman, Arvid, Vejde, Frida January 2016 (has links)
The aim of this thesis was to investigate how clients change in their interpersonal problems during psychotherapy and if there is a correlation between this change and the therapist interpersonal problems. The aim was also to investigate if there were any difference in change of interpersonal problems between clients that were part of a complementarity and non-complementarity client- and therapist dyad. Interpersonal problems were measured with IIP-C. The sample consisted of 40 clients and 40 student-therapists from the psychology program. The therapy were either CBT or PDT and consisted in average of 21 sessions, interpersonal problems were measured prior and after therapy. The result indicated that clients significantly reduced their interpersonal problems in general and also on the scale Overly Accommodating. There were few and modest correlations between clients change and the therapist’s interpersonal problems. There were no difference in change of clients interpersonal problems between clients that were part of a complementarity and non-complementarity client- and therapist dyad. The results of the client's improvement of interpersonal problems support earlier findings. The reason why there were few and modest correlations between clients change of interpersonal problems and therapist interpersonal problems might be the low degree of therapist’s interpersonal problems and that the clients changes in interpersonal problems might be due to therapeutic technique rather than the therapists interpersonal problems. Future research and methodological shortcomings are discussed.
