Effects of Reduction in Force on Administrator Job Satisfaction

January 2011 (has links)
abstract: The purpose of this study is to determine job satisfaction among school administrators who were involved in the teacher RIF (reduction in force) process in the spring of 2009. The study attempts to ascertain the effects of RIF on administrator job satisfaction in one, large, urban school district in Arizona and what impact, if any, the RIF process may have on the district and its personnel in the future. This study will question to what extent administrators within sample district are satisfied with their jobs, to what extent demographic information such as years of experience, age, gender, district position, and school level correlate with job satisfaction of administrators, in what ways has administrative job satisfaction been affected by the RIF process, what aspects of the RIF processes correlate with administrative job satisfaction, and what suggestions, if any, do administrators have regarding future RIF notifications during that time. This study will also recommend methods of notification delivery, advocate for administrator job satisfaction, and report any correlations within our findings to the sample district for review and consideration for the future. This study found that most administrators are very satisfied with their jobs, but the RIF process was somewhat influential in affecting their job satisfaction. Additionally, it seems that the higher the job position, the higher the job satisfaction. Advanced age, higher educational accomplishment, and longevity in one`s current position also correlated with high job satisfaction. / Dissertation/Thesis / Ed.D. White Dreams, Another World: Exploring the Racial Beliefs of White Administrators in Multicultural Settings

January 2011 (has links)
abstract: Although racial minorities are heavily represented in student bodies throughout the United States, school administrators who work with minority children have been overwhelmingly White. Previous research by race scholars has demonstrated that systems of racial dominance in the larger society are often replicated in schools. However, the role of White school administrators in perpetuating or disrupting racism has not been documented. This study examined the racial attitudes and resulting professional practices of White school administrators who worked in a unique environment. These administrators lived and practiced their profession in towns that lay just outside the borders of the Navajo Nation, a large Indian reservation in the Four Corners region of Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. Termed border towns, these communities were populated by a large majority of Native Americans, with a heavy representation of Hispanics. This placed White school administrators in the uncommon position of living and working in a place where they were a numeric minority, while simultaneously representing the majority culture in the United States. Twelve White border town administrators in four different communities agreed to participate in the interview study, conducted over a two-month period in 2010 and 2011. Using a semi-structured interview format, the researcher gathered data on participants' racial attitudes and analyzed responses to find common themes. Common responses among the interviewees indicated that there were clear racial hierarchies within border town schools and that these hierarchies were sometimes atypical of those found in mainstream American society. These racial hierarchies were characterized by a dichotomy of Native American students based on residence in town or on the reservation, as well as deferential treatment of White administrators by Native American constituents. The intersectionality of race and socioeconomic class was a key finding of the study, with implications for school administrators' professional actions. Racial attitudes also impacted White border town administrators' actions and sometimes reinforced institutionally racist practices. Finally, results of the study supported several established models of race relations and White identity formation. / Dissertation/Thesis / Ed.D. Educational Administration and Supervision 2011

A qualitative exploration of the South African cricket development environment

English, Cedric Vaughan January 2017 (has links)
It may be argued that there are fewer sporting environments where politics and sport are so intertwined, however having undergone significant socio-political changes and development, South Africa (SA) remains a strong sporting nation with a rich and complex sporting history. After 28 years of sporting isolation, following SA's re-entry to international competition in 1992, the country has since competed at international level and immediately reasserted itself as one of the top cricketing nations in the world. With very little non-politicised literature on the subject, the question of what SA's talent development environment looks like in order to produce internationally competitive teams, after 28 years of isolation, remains relatively un-reviewed. In light of this, the SA cricket development environment offers a unique opportunity to explore one of SA's oldest and most established sports. The focus of this thesis will provide a pragmatic and holistic picture of the South African cricket development environment across four features, Organisational Culture, Structural Change, Coach Development and Coach-Administrator Relationships. Consequently, the aims of this thesis are fourfold: 1. To explore the use of an existing organisational framework, the Cultural Web, from the domain of organisational culture management to investigate organisational culture within SA cricket development environment. 2. To gather an understanding of the development pathway of SA cricketers and investigate if the changes made to the provincial structure in 2004 have impacted on the pre-2004 development trajectory of a SA cricketer. 3. To explore the learning and development environment of SA cricket coaches and their career progression. 4. To explore and illuminate the operational relationship between the coach and the administration within the context of SA cricket.

In general terms, society and the market have been demanding from the business community a socially responsible attitude in order to minimize not only existing social inequalities but also the negative impact caused by the development of activities in some sectors of the economy. The CSR also enters the organizations through the hands of the Professional Administrator, formed by the Universities, which give him concepts and practices aimed at the knowledge of the management field. Therefore, the present study analyzes the perception of management graduates, from the Universidade Federal Rural do Semi-Àrido, about four conceptual perspectives of CSR. The objective of this study is to identify the occurrence of changes in the conception of responsibility that the administrator experienced in his training and that which is practiced in the company in which he works. This is a qualitative and descriptive research, which selected 15 graduates of the last two pedagogical projects of the mentioned teaching institution, who work in administrative activities in the public and service sectors, in micro, small, medium and large companies. Interviews were used as a data collection tool, applied to graduates. The research showed that there are no changes in the conception of social responsibility that the administrator experienced in his / her formation, however, this one is not able to be effective in the company that acts, because while the egress has its training focused on the Perspective of Competitive Advantage and Systemic, The organization, experiences practices focused on the Social Action Perspective / A Responsabilidade Social Corporativa surgiu e se perpetua nas organizações como resposta à intervenção estatal, como meio de garantir o sistema econômico vigente.

The dissertation furthermore deals with proceedings before the decision on the bankruptcy. This procedure is followed by proceedings after decisions on bankruptcy where the method of resolving insolvency is chosen. Bankruptcy proceedings end by resolution on the cancellation of bankruptcy. This is followed by closing the accounting books by insolvency administrator and a court resolution acquitting the function of the insolvency administrator.

Role jednotlivých subjektů při reorganizaci dlužníkova podniku (komparativní studie) / The role of different subjects in reorganisation of the debtor's enterprise (comparative study)

Vodičková, Tereza January 2018 (has links)
The role of different subjects in reorganisation of the debtor's enterprise (comparative study) Abstract This thesis is an analyse of the role of different subjekts involved in reorganization. This thesis is composed of four chapters each of them dealing with one of the key subjects. Different legal systems were compared for this purpose. On one hand reorganisationis a sort of civil procedure, on theother hand it is a sort of contract. This thesis tries to describe this ambiguity in emphasising its contractual basis and judicial framework. Chapter One analyses how the insolvency modifies the position of the management, management is no more completely autonome in its action. In some cases there placement of the management is necessary, especially when the wrongful trading is proven. In most of cases the debt or files for insolvency, prepares a plan of reorganization and becomes a "Debtor in possetion". Different stades of reorganisation in respect with the position of the debtor are examined which shows that the reorganization is a way for thea management how to regain the right to act on behalf of the company. The role of shareholders symbolises the changes inside of the insolvent company- onone hand they represent as a shareholders'meeting an organ of the company and the other hand they are also...
