A formação em administração e o éthos da modernidade / Business Administration Education and the ethos of Modernity

Tordino, Cláudio Antônio 08 November 2004 (has links)
Education in Business Administration has been subject to criticism by most professionals involved in the field. This has been nurturing debates that point out different reasons and multiple alternatives for remodeling the process at the undergraduate, graduate and extension levels. This text aims at setting bases for building a pedagogical project for undergraduate Business Administration courses that aims at the development of competencies and consciousness by exploiting, from a critical historic perspective, the ethos of modernity whose current and previous powerful legacy is like a harness, restricting the steps towards more daring and novel views. By means of an interdisciplinary approach, the present discussion has as its focal point the roles of Administration and the administrator. It looks for engendering reference tables and the building of epistemic roots. At the same time, it looks for identifying a universalistic profile of the administrator as a possible national identity, taking into account the contributions emanated from Philosophy, History, Economy, Sociology, Political Science, Education, and Business Administration. This thesis is partially concluded with a discussion about the job of an administrator contemplating the idiosyncrasies and seeking to indicate, within perspectives that are plausible to Administration, the range of possible roles available to the administrator, which can guide specific pedagogical projects to offer education in the area.

Bankrutuojančios įmonės administravimas: teisiniai aspektai / Administration of a bankrupt company: legal aspects

Leščinskaitė, Ineta 03 July 2012 (has links)
[toliau žr. visą tekstą] / The main purpose of bankruptcy is to satisfy the interests of creditors. The special legal regulation is created in order to achieve this goal as the administration of a company passes to an independent subject – the bankruptcy administrator. He takes over an insolvent debtor's assets, documents, and is responsible not only for the preservation of the property and the administration, but also for the highest possible degree of accumulation of assets of the debtor and its placing between creditors. The assignation of such a broad empowerment leads to the administration being one of the company’s key elements that affects the success of creditors' claims. The goal of this master thesis is to analyze and evaluate the administration impact to the rights of creditors trying to ensure their interests. For this reason, author analyzes the importance of the bankruptcy administrator, the problems posed by his ambivalent status, the administrative activity concept and its influence for the successful achievement of bankruptcy goals. In addition, a detailed analysis was made of the administrative activity aspects which are connected with the takeover of leading, asset mass formation, creditors’ protection and additional elements such as administrative costs, their refund, conditions for a civil liability and how the civil liability insurance ensures creditors’ rights. This master thesis is useful because a systematic analysis of laws, science and periodic publications of Lithuanian and... [to full text]

A study of the technology leadership of Texas high school principals.

Seay, D. Alan 05 1900 (has links)
Effectively integrating technology into school requires the presence of informed and visionary leadership. Past research on change in schools demonstrates the importance of the principal to that process. In that research it is obvious that the principal must possess more than skills and knowledge about the change, he or she must also possess leadership skills to lead the campus through the change. Despite this finding, very little research has been attempted to determine the leadership knowledge and skills of principals for technology integration. This study attempts to investigate the technology leadership of high school principals in Texas using the National Educational Technology Standards for Administrators (NETS*A). In addition, this study compares technology leadership among principals who have attended the Technology Leadership Academy with those who have not attended this training. The two questions that guided this study are: (1) What are the technology leadership actions of Texas' high school principals in each of the six technology leadership standards identified by the NETS*A standard document? (2) How are the technology leadership practices of high school principals who participated in the Technology Leadership Academy sponsored by TASA and TBEC different from those who have not participated in the training? Because no existing survey measured technology leadership using the NETS*A, a 46-part survey document was created by the researcher. The survey contained multiple questions covering each of the six standards of the NETS*A and was administered online. Descriptive statistics were used to answer the first research question. A MANVOA, using the combined mean scores for questions covering each NETS*A standard as the dependent variable and the principal's participation in the Technology Leadership Academy as the independent variable, was run to provide answers to the second research question. The principals in this study scored highly in each of the six NETS*A standards. The lowest combined mean score dealt with a principal's leadership and vision for technology. Descriptive statistics showed principals exhibited the highest combined mean score in the area of support, maintenance, and operations. Furthermore, the MANOVA indicated little difference between principals who attended the Technology Leadership Academy and those who did not attend.

The Relationships Between Leadership Styles and Personality Types of Texas Elementary Administrators

Penny, Andra Jones 05 1900 (has links)
The purposes of this study were to explore the leadership styles and personality types of Texas elementary administrators. The Leader Effectiveness and Adaptability Description-Self (LEAD-Self) assessed the leadership style and adaptability of the administrators. The four identified styles were Telling/Directing, Selling/Coaching, Participating/Supporting, and Delegating. The MBTI measured 16 combinations of 4 personality types which included Extrovert or Introvert, Sensing or Intuition, Thinking or Feeling, and Judging or Perceiving. The sample was 200 Texas elementary administrators: 100 with early childhood certification and 100 without early childhood certification. A chi-square test of independence was utilized. Findings included: (a) A majority of Texas elementary administrators in both groups had a Selling/Coaching or Participating/Supporting leadership style; (b) Leadership adaptability scores of both groups were equivalent; (c) Most Texas elementary administrators had Introvert/Sensing/Thinking/Judging and Extrovert/Sensing/Thinking/Judging personality types; (d) Administrators with early childhood certification had a higher percentage of Intuitive personality types, while administrators without early childhood certification had a predominance of Sensing types; (e) A large percentage of administrators which had Participating/Supporting leadership styles had Feeling personality types; (f) No significant relationship between leadership styles and personality types was found in either group; and (g) No significant relationship between leadership adaptability and personality types was found in either group. Recommendations included: (a) further study to investigate the role of gender in leadership style and personality type; (b) further study to determine if elementary administrators have higher adaptability scores than secondary administrators; (c) further study to determine if elementary administrators have different leadership styles than secondary administrators; (d) further study to determine if elementary administrators have different personality types than secondary administrators; (e) further study to determine if leadership adaptability scores accurately portray an administrator's effectiveness; and (f) provide opportunities for future and practicing administrators to assess their leadership style, leadership adaptability, and personality type.

Majetková podstata / Assets

Beránková, Jana January 2012 (has links)
Thesis, theme: Assets Author: Jana Beránková English Summary Assets in the insolvency proceedings is the subject of the submitted thesis. Assets is one of the fundamental legal institutions in insolvency proceeding, which forms the basis of the solution of the bankruptcy. Thanks to the precise definition of assets, accurately defined inventory of assets, and its breakdown (in relation to the debtor, creditors, and other persons), there is a fundamental and qualitative change as opposed to the legislation of the law on bankruptcy and settlement. This significant change occurred on the day of January the first 2008, when the Czech law of insolvency entered a new phase. The new insolvency act was passed, and at the same time the law on bankruptcy and settlement was invalidated. The new legislation does not solve bankruptcy only of the bankruptcy and composition, it uses the general concept of defaults that suggests this is a completely different solution concept. The insolvency area is understood much more comprehensively. The bankruptcy act use not the term "bankruptcy", but the assets. It's completely new term and new defininition of contents, not just the change of the name. In the original treatment the term bankruptcy applies onl y to the bankruptcy proceedings. On the contrary, the bankruptcy act defines...

Ďurovičová, Petra January 2013 (has links)
English summary The aim of my thesis is to analyze the Institute of assets in insolvency proceedings, which will try to break down with regard to the structure of the provisions governing it in the Insolvency Act and also to make a comparison with the bankruptcy in the Act on Bankruptcy. With regard to the re-codification of private law and consequently the planned amendment to the Insolvency Act, it is necessary to further outline the changes of assets which that amendment would bring. I chose the topic of my thesis because of interest in the legal industry and also because of the knowledge of insolvency law with regard to the increasing importance of this area of law as a result of the increasing number of bankruptcies. The thesis is divided into six chapters dealing with various aspects of the assets. The first chapter provides a basic definition of assets and defines its scope, which is different according to the person lodging the bankruptcy petition. This chapter also sets out specific things, rights and other assets belonging to the assets or y those that do not belong. The second chapter discusses the process of identifying the contents of the assets. This chapter describes the different procedures and privileges of insolvency administrator. Examination of Faculty Expectations of Technical College Administrators as an Important Factor in High Performing Environments

Dupuis, Phyllis A. 20 December 2009 (has links)
Popular thought supports the notion that faculty expectations of technical college administrators appear to be linked to the success or failure of an institution at accomplishing its mission. These expectations provide the basis for the development of relationships that foster the growth of technical training and thus the growth of a skilled workforce. Faculty members in technical colleges are responsible for training individuals to meet business and industry needs. Administrators are responsible for efficiently achieving the institution's mission of workforce development. Unknown faculty expectations may inhibit the ability of administrators to achieve the institution's mission in an efficient manner. This project is an exploratory qualitative study of faculty expectations of technical college administrators in a high performing environment. The result of this study increases the administrators' understanding of expectations associated with their role and facilitates the development of an effective workforce training agenda. Five major themes related to expectations of administrator roles emerged from participant interviews: student-, community-, faculty-, administrative-, and attributes-oriented roles as necessary for achieving outcomes in a high performing technical college environment. Study findings reveal major differences in faculty expectations and institutional expectations of the role of technical college administrators. The necessity for reconciliation of these differences in expectations is examined as it relates to the success of high performing institutions. Potential contributions of this study to post-secondary technical and community colleges are numerous. Through the use of Mintzberg's Taxonomy of Managerial Roles (Mintzberg, 1973) as a conceptual framework and actual accounts of eleven technical viii college faculty members, this study seeks to contribute to the training/development of technical and community college administrators, provide a summary of faculty expectations of technical college administrators, identify professional development opportunities to assist faculty in clarification of administrator roles, provide insight into the behaviors deemed necessary for campus administrators to be considered successful, increase faculty job satisfaction and improve morale by providing an opportunity for communication and feedback, and provide insight to current and future leadership development programs and processes.
