ValÃria GerÃnimo Pedrosa 14 May 2010 (has links)
Let F be a free group and let w Є F. For a group G,let Gw denote the set of all w-values in G and w(G)=[Gw] the verbal subgroup of G corresponding to w. A word w is called boundedly concise if, for each group G such that | Gw | ≤ n, we have |w(G)| ≤ c,for some integer c depending only on n. We will show w is a word boundedly concise G is a group such that |xGw| ≤ m for all x Є G, then |xw(G)|≤ d such that x Є G and a some integer d = d(m,w) depending only on m and w.

A contribution to the theory of prime modules

Ssevviiri, David January 2013 (has links)
This thesis is aimed at generalizing notions of rings to modules. In par-ticular, notions of completely prime ideals, s-prime ideals, 2-primal rings and nilpotency of elements of rings are respectively generalized to completely prime submodules and classical completely prime submodules, s-prime submodules, 2-primal modules and nilpotency of elements of modules. Properties and rad-icals that arise from each of these notions are studied.

SQL front-end pro systém Bobox / A SQL front-end for the Bobox system

Klimperová, Lucie January 2015 (has links)
The goal of this thesis is to design and implement a SQL frontend for Bobox framework which is being developed by Department of software engineering MFF UK. The development of the Bobox framework is motivated by the effort to simplify writing parallel software. The Bobox framework is one of many system implementations for processing stream data and provides runtime environment for evaluating execution plans in the parallel environment. This thesis deals with implementation of a frontend for this framework. The input is a query in SQL language and information about database structure. Frontend will perform syn- tactic and semantic analysis and then translate the input query into intermediate code. The output of this frontend is the intermediate code in the form of relatio- nal algebra written as XML and is used as the input for the following optimizing backend.

Cellular dg-categories and their applications to homotopy theory of A-infinity categories

Kravets, Oleksandr January 2020 (has links)
We introduce the notion of cellular dg-categories mimicking the properties of topological CW-complexes. We study the properties of such categories and provide various examples corresponding to the well-known geometrical objects. We also show that these categories are suitable for encoding coherence conditions in homotopy theoretical constructs involving A-infinity categories. In particular, we formulate the notion of a homotopy coherent monoid action on an A-infinity category which can be used in constructions involved in Homological Mirror Symmetry.

The space of Cohen-Macaulay curves

Heinrich, Katharina January 2012 (has links)
In this thesis we discuss a moduli space of projective curves with a map to a given projective space. The functor CM parametrizes curves, that is, Cohen-Macaulay schemes of pure dimension 1, together with a finite map to the projective space that is an isomorphism onto its image away from a finite set of closed points. We proof that CM is an algebraic space by contructing a scheme W and a representable, surjective and smooth map from W to CM. / QC 20120229

Rees algebras of modules and Quot schemes of points

Sædén Ståhl, Gustav January 2014 (has links)
This thesis consists of three articles. The first two concern a generalization of Rees algebras of ideals to modules. Paper A shows that the definition of the Rees algebra due to Eisenbud, Huneke and Ulrich has an equivalent, intrinsic, definition in terms of divided powers. In Paper B, we use coherent functors to describe properties of the Rees algebra. In particular, we show that the Rees algebra is induced by a canonical map of coherent functors. In Paper C, we prove a generalization of Gotzmann's persistence theorem to finite modules. As a consequence, we show that the embedding of the Quot scheme of points into a Grassmannian is given by a single Fitting ideal. / <p>QC 20141218</p>
