This work restricts on the analysis of these anaphoras achieved by composed nuclei from nominal group sometimes called rotulation. We adopted the theoretical perspective that the researched phenomenon is situated in the referencing discoursive activity, conceived as a (re)construction of the reality, came from, the interaction between the speakers, in an intersubjective way. We propose a classification of the possible functions took on by anaphoric encapsulation in different discoursive contexts. For such end, we approached, initially, the classifying proposal by Cavalcante (2003) about referential expressions, in which are inserted the anaphoric encapsulation. From this classification, we adopted the perspective by Francis (1986; 1994) about rotulation, denominated in this work as anaphoric encapsulation; we still discuss the works of Carvalho (2005) and Koch (2006) that are based on the studies of the author. It bears emphasis that based on the suggestion of Koch (2004) about the cognitive-discoursive functions from the lexical referential expressions, which were the parameter for our proposal of functions of anaphoric encapsulation and organization of criteria that involved these functions. Our corpus has 70 varied-genre texts: from these, 50 texts belong to the database of Study Group Protexto/UFC; the others were selected, considering just the occurrence of the cohesive resources studied. With the analysis of these samples, we checked functional traits of anaphoric encapsulation may be multifunctional, according to discoursive proposals of their interlocutors. / Esta dissertação tem como escopo a análise das funções discursivas das anáforas encapsuladoras e se restringe às que se realizam por meio de sintagmas nominais (também chamadas de rótulos). Adotamos a perspectiva teórica de que o fenômeno pesquisado situase na atividade discursiva de referenciação, concebida como uma (re)construção do real, advinda da interação entre os falantes, de forma intersubjetiva. Propomos uma classificação das possíveis funções assumidas pelas anáforas encapsuladoras em diferentes contextos discursivos. Para tal fim, abordamos, inicialmente, a proposta classificatória de Cavalcante (2003) dos processos referenciais, entre os quais estão inseridas as anáforas encapsuladoras. Partindo dessa classificação, retomamos os pressupostos de Francis (1986;1994) acerca da rotulação e discutimos os trabalhos de Carvalho (2005) e Koch (2006), que também se baseiam nos estudos da autora. Tomamos como base classificatória a sugestão de Koch (2004) sobre as funções cognitivo-discursivas das expressões nominais referenciais, e propusemos uma reorganização dos critérios que envolvem tais funções. Nosso corpus consta de 70 textos de gêneros variados: destes, 50 textos pertencem ao banco de dados do grupo de estudos Protexto/UFC, e os demais foram selecionados considerando apenas a ocorrência do recurso coesivo estudado. Com a análise dos dados, verificamos traços funcionais das anáforas encapsuladoras que vieram a compor nossa classificação e nos levaram a constatar que estas anáforas podem ser multifuncionais, atendendo aos propósitos discursivos de seus interlocutores.

In this dissertation we evaluate Seno (2005) s Veins Theory-based proposal and prototype, and present a reimplementation with distinct features based on the analysis of a corpus annotated with rhetoric (RST) and referential information. In addition, we report on the first validation effort for Portuguese for Veins Theory s Conjecture 1 (C1), which constrains anaphora resolution given the rhetoric structure of texts and whose applicability to Automatic Summarization interests us. As a methodological novelty, we put forth the Non-Trivial Precision, a more realistic estimator of C1 s predictive power. / O trabalho apresentado nesta dissertação tem como foco o estudo e validação de teorias lingüísticas com vistas à melhoria dos sistemas de Sumarização Automática, ramo da Lingüística Computacional que, com o advento da internet, tem recebido grande atenção nos últimos tempos, pois a quantidade de informação on-line é enorme e os leitores têm cada vez menos tempo para apreender o máximo desta informação. Nesta dissertação, avaliamos o protótipo de AS baseado na Teoria das Veias proposto por Seno (2005) e apresentamos uma reimplementação com características distintas, baseada em análise de córpus um córpus anotado com informação retórica (RST) e referencial. Como inovação metodológica, formulamos a Precisão Não-Trivial, um estimador mais realista para o poder preditivo da C1.

This research was delimited to the analysis of the occurred lexical recategorizations through direct co-referential anaphoras. We adopt the theoretical perspective of that the searched phenomenon is placed in the activity discourse of referencing, conceived as a (re) construction of the reality, happened of the interaction between the speakers, in a intersubjective way. We proposed one classification of the possible functions assumed for the recategorizations in different discourse contexts. For such end, we approached, initially, the classifying proposal by Cavalcante (2003) about referential expressions, that has been used as a base of our functional proposal about recategorizations. From this, we retook the pioneer analysis by Apothéloz and Reichler-Béguelin (1995) about recategorizations, and we discussed the works by Tavares (2003) and Lima (2003), based on the two authors. We contemplated, basically, the suggestion by Koch (2004) about cognitive and discourse functions of the lexical referential expressions; in our proposal about recategorizations. Our corpus consisted of 80 texts was taken from different genres: 62 of them were chosen casually. Another part belongs to the bank of data of Protexto/UFC group studies. With the analysis of the data, we inquired functional traces of the recategorizations, that had come to compose our classification and it had taken us to evidence that recategorizations can be multi-functional in the speeches. Este trabalho restringe-se à análise das recategorizações lexicais ocorridas por meio de anáforas diretas, correferenciais. Adotamos a perspectiva teórica de que o fenômeno pesquisado situa-se na atividade discursiva de referenciação, concebida como uma (re)construção do real, advinda da interação entre os falantes, de forma intersubjetiva. Propomos uma classificação das possíveis funções assumidas pelas recategorizações nos diferentes contextos discursivos. Para tal fim, abordamos, inicialmente, a proposta classificatória de Cavalcante (2003) dos processos referenciais, entre os quais estão inseridas as recategorizações. A partir disso, retomamos a análise pioneira de Apothéloz e Reichler-Béguelin (1995) sobre as recategorizações, bem como discutimos os trabalhos de Tavares (2003) e de Lima (2003), que se baseiam nos dois autores. Contemplamos, fundamentalmente, a sugestão de Koch (2004) sobre as funções cognitivo-discursivas das expressões nominais referenciais, que serviram de parâmetro para nossa proposta de funções das recategorizações. Nosso corpus consta de 80 textos de diversos gêneros: destes, 62 textos foram por nós escolhidos aleatoriamente; a outra parte da amostra é pertencente ao banco de dados do grupo de estudos Protexto/UFC. Com a análise dos dados, averiguamos traços funcionais das recategorizações, que vieram a compor nossa classificação e nos levaram a constatar que as recategorizações podem ser multifuncionais nos discursos.
