A-temporalidade do instantâneo : o tempo e o comportamento na arquitetura contemporânea / The timelessness of the instant : the time and the behavior in contemporary architecture

Rocha, Ana Paula Silva, 1980- 27 August 2018 (has links)
Orientador: Daniel de Carvalho Moreira / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Faculdade de Engenharia Civil, Arquitetura e Urbanismo / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-27T02:01:06Z (GMT). This work investigates the impact of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Architecture itself as well as in its dialogues with others areas of knowledge. The basic question which orients this dissertation is the analysis of how the technological transformations and the transdisciplinarity have affected the paradigm changes in the architectural discipline. This is a case study that seeks to identify which are the transformations imposed by the insertion of digital means in human beings¿ daily lives, also its implications in contemporary architectural thought, genesis and production. Finally, it intends to study projects that address such reflections. The research¿s main goal is to investigate how the conception of architectural projects may be amplified in order to correspond to the intrinsic complexity of the new modes of being that are inherent to the post-industrial society of the 21st century. In this context ¿ in an atmosphere in which more and more the digital supports are linked to the human existence ¿ the intention is to understand the interrelationships between concrete and virtual in the configuration of a new spatiality. Thus, the work presents a reflection that stems from a few selected contemporary projects ¿ prototypes and experiments which retrieve questions that derive from the conceptual universe of virtuality ¿ whose drawing and/or concept are inseparable from virtual environments, considering these projects as spatialities which are possible or not to materialize. As a methodology of analysis, the selected projects will be studied according to six criteria: program, implementation site, architectural concept, formal response, interaction with the external environment and interaction with the user. The intention is analyzing how the spatial possibilities of the virtual and concrete environments have been mutually feeding each other, also studying the forms of dialogue between immateriality and materiality / Mestrado / Arquitetura, Tecnologia e Cidade / Mestra em Arquitetura, Tecnologia e Cidade

Podstata hliněné architektury v podmínkách Česka / The Essence of earthen Architecture in the Czech Republic

Bažík, Lenka January 2021 (has links)
For ten thousand years people have used earthen building material in their homes and in just the last hundred years advanced society has gradually turned away from it due to the development of modern technology. Earth is currently of little use as a building material, but it is gradually increasing with the importance of sustainability. Earth has its place in contemporary modern architecture and this is what this work tries to point out. The research is based on the assumption that each building material gravitates with its properties, composition and also the knowledge of the builder to create a certain space. Different building materials define different spaces, different construction uses and different details. This research defined the network of knowledge with the central themes of the essence of earthen architecture by the method of grounded theory and subsequently applied the theory in the design of a model case. The proposed small structure represents an ideal rendering of the space from a single material on the basis of acquired and known information about this material. It has massive earthen walls, which man created himself and it provides him the shelter. The shelter rises smoothly from the ground, its main source, it has soft round features, which were created by the touch of human hands, and when it expires, it naturally merges with the ground again.

Rodrigo Brotero Lefèvre: a construção da utopia

Guimarães, Humberto Pio 19 October 2006 (has links)
This dissertation aims at giving a panorama of Rodrigo Brotero Lefèvre´s production from 1960 to 1984 both as an architect and a university lecturer, considering the political and cultural scenario in Brazil over that period. It shows the interweaving of theory and practice typical of this author, through a concern about and control of planning, which pervades his writings and works. It also raises the discussion of perennial issues related to his professional work as a wage earner and a self-employed man: collectivity, technique, national issues and the future. It focuses on the connection of his production with the modern architecture stream in the state of São Paulo as regards ideology and language, based upon a radical criticism associated with the interpretative tendency developed by brazilian marxist intellectuals, in the sense of the duality between archaism and modernity. It eventually stresses the commitment of his ideas to architecture users and producers, seeking a synthesis of utopia and reality.

Structuring Fashion : Department Stores as Situating Spatial Practice

Koch, Daniel January 2007 (has links)
This dissertation investigates department stores as complex spatial and cultural buildings, in which values and ideas are expressed, negotiated, and produced. Situated in a cultural context commonly referred to as a society of consumption, where identity and social structures are worked out through consumption rather than production, the query turns to a specific act of consumption: that of shopping. More precisely, it investigates the role of space and spatial distribution in shopping. How space is distributed, arranged, or ordered allows for different possibilities in constructing categories from which the shoppers are to make a selection, and for how these categories can be related to one another, which informs the shoppers what belongs together, what is to be held apart, what is important, what is private, what is public, and what is of higher or lower status. It further supports, prevents, and promotes different routes and choices, giving different patterns of presence, publicity, privacy, purpose, etc. that not only affects the atmosphere of the spaces, but makes suggestions of what is found in them. These questions are investigated through a series of conceptual laboratories, each addressing the problem from different standpoints and focusing on different parts of the question: from how categories are constructed and given character, to how they form systems of values, how shoppers are trained in aesthetics of fashion, how relative degrees of presences are made use of, and how they appear influenced by spatial distribution. In this, the work shifts between qualitative and quantitative methods, each completing and evolving the other. It shows that to a remarkable degree, much of the emergent values and ideas can be understood through the filter of spatial configurations, and especially when treated as two systems: one of exposure and one of availability. As similar operations also affect patterns of movement and being, which enables them to also be related to publicity, privacy, and other social characters, the department stores can be understood as not only commercial spaces but as sites of negotiation of public culture. As such, both the analytic model and the more specific findings have important implications for architectural theory in general. / QC 20100803

A arquitetura e as ferramentas digitais : uma visão do projeto arquitetônico

Jung, Ronald Luis da Cruz January 2014 (has links)
This research investigates the design process in architecture and how it came to be influenced in the past few years by digital tools which emerged since then. It seeks to establish a vision about the architecture design methods by questioning the existence of a new paradigm. Thereunto it analyzes the Brazilian academic production of the past few years which explored or developed theories about the use of digital tools in order to establish a starting point. Through literature, it exposes a vision and a defense of a way of designing and how digital tools can assist this process without creating distortions of its use. Finally, the text contrasts two types of architecture: the silent, sober architecture, which seeks to adapt to the city and as well support the passage of time and changes of its uses, and the "digitalist" architecture, focused on the "unusual", which turns to the possibility of the media exploitation of the building and the many problems it brings to users and society.

Ahrens, Åsa January 2010 (has links)
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the project Knitting House using art and architectural theories to question the forms of the project as well as the town planning in the area of Husby, a suburb to Stockholm. In order to stress the architectural issues in the area of Husby, the thesis examines the aim and intention of the project Knitting House. The project explores the standardized architectural form that was used and built under the Miljonprogrammet, through the years of 1960-1970 in the neighborhoods of Järvafältet. The thesis will also investigate some of the problems that arise when attempting to discuss knitting as a method used to perform Knitting House.  This paper explores the relationships between public and private spaces, the areas in between them and how they interact. The claim made throughout the thesis is that Knitting House can function as a political catalyst by presenting a combined perspective of art, architecture and politics to address the social and ethnic segregation in suburbs like Husby.
